In our testing, we found out what options we have here. The simplest way to operate is always a button directly on the hearing aid. This one has that too. It can be programmed to your liking. Do you want manual volume control? No problem, the button allows for a stepwise adjustment of the volume. Or do you need different special programs for your professional daily life or your hobbies? These can also be activated via the button. If you prefer to keep everything in automatic mode, you can simply ignore the button or even have it deactivated. We do like the small remote controls, and we found one for this model. This way, you can discreetly make small changes to the volume or sound.
For some time now, there has been a trend to adjust hearing aids louder or quieter using voice commands. The idea is really good, but Beltone has not yet implemented this feature in this device. Don’t worry, this feature would be nice, but it is not essential. Tap Control would also have been an interesting function. With it, you could change the function with a quick tap on the ear. But that feature is not available here in the Serene 17 63-DRW yet.
The operation of the Serene 17 63-DRW is relatively easy via the associated app. It brings a lot of additional functions and has impressed us significantly. We particularly enjoyed using the equalizer during testing. As a person with normal hearing, you can almost get a bit envious; you don't find this in wireless headphones yet. A streaming option would not be bad for our digital everyday life. The current device meets our wish and includes a 2.4 GHz wireless module. This allows you to send calls and sounds directly from the smartphone to the hearing aids.
