We are once again looking at a conventional hearing aid for moderate, severe, and changing hearing losses: This model is called Alpha 3 MNB T R and comes from the company Bernafon. It is worn behind the ear, and it is a discreet hearing aid. The Alpha 3 MNB T R is a model at a reasonable price from the upper mid-range. Let's see if the price classification is justified.

Hearing comfort

First, we assess the hearing comfort features. What types of noise does the hearing aid recognize? How does it handle them? Is the hearing aid suitable for a varied everyday life? Here with this test device, a solid comfort programming by the audiologist is possible. As in all hearing aids, we also find the typical noise reduction here. It aims to reduce monotonous, noisy background sounds to the point where they no longer dominate. The Alpha 3 MNB T R has a fairly effective noise reduction.

We are pleased that the Alpha 3 MNB T R includes wind reduction. The impulse sound management is relatively simple; it dampens short loud noises a little, which is okay. It is best to try it out in demo mode beforehand. A streaming option would not be bad for our digital everyday life. The present device fulfills our wish and comes with a 2.4 GHz wireless module. This allows phone calls and sounds to be transmitted directly from the smartphone to the hearing aids.

The Alpha 3 MNB T R automatically accesses the most important hearing settings and thus facilitates daily use. However, those who frequently experience changing acoustic environments should have the manual additional programs configured. We give a big plus point for the automatic acclimatization assistant. It gradually increases the starting volume in very small steps until my hearing goal is reached. This significantly eases the adjustment to the new sound.

The simple handling in everyday life definitely also includes the power supply. The Alpha 3 MNB T R has a built-in battery and is rechargeable. Since one full charge is definitely enough for the entire day, we do not have to worry that the battery will run out in the middle of a conversation.

With IP 68 certification, the hearing aid can withstand various adverse influences. Dust cannot penetrate, it can endure prolonged submersion in water, and it is also protected against contact.
