This time we tested a small hearing aid from a still moderate price category. It is the Bernafon Alpha XT 5 MNR T. It is worn behind the ear and is intended for light, moderate, and also strong hearing needs. The placement of the speaker directly in the ear canal is thanks to its design, which also provides a nice, clear sound.

In the test, we did not find any voice control options. This feature is not necessarily needed, but it would have pleased us nonetheless. Another option for controlling the hearing aids is a tap control. For this, you simply tap your fingers on your ear, which triggers a specific function. However, this possibility is not available in this Bernafon device.
The best way to adjust the Alpha XT 5 MNR T is with the associated app. The first apps in the past had barely a screen, but this one offers far more than just the usual volume up and down function. We clearly have points here. Problems during phone calls with the smartphone are a thing of the past with this device. Phone calls, music, and other sounds are completely wirelessly transmitted to the hearing aids. Headphones become unnecessary. We tested the wireless transmission during longer phone calls as well as for listening to music while exercising. Everything worked simply and smoothly. Only a compatible smartphone with 2.4 GHz wireless technology is needed.

We had a carefree everyday experience in our test due to the IP-68 certification. This indicates that the hearing aid is particularly well protected against dust and water. We walked through the rain and subsequently removed the hearing aids with wet hands – everything was no problem. However, the water resistance really only applies to fresh, natural water and not to foamy bathwater or seawater.

Then there are a few lifestyle features that turn your hearing aid into a smart assistant.
