It can be programmed according to your wishes. Do you want a manual volume control? No problem, the button allows for a stepwise adjustment of the volume. Or do you need various special programs for your professional everyday life or hobbies? These can also be activated via the button. If you want to keep everything in automatic mode, you can simply ignore the button or even have it deactivated. A remote control is available for the AQ Beat FS 9 R. It’s very handy, fits in your pocket, and offers a volume up-down option as well as various hearing programs.

The voice control is an increasingly popular option for operation. Hansaton has recognized this too and provides this function in its AQ Beat FS 9 R. We believe this is the fastest way to adjust the volume or switch the hearing program. We were quite impressed with the tap control during the test. Just tap your ear lightly, and your Hansaton hearing aid knows to do something. We were already familiar with this sensor-controlled technology from wireless headphones, and it's great that such a feature is now available in hearing aids.

Manual operation includes an app. This allows for unobtrusive access to the hearing aid. In addition to volume control, you can also adjust hearing programs and a few other functions. We really enjoyed the direct, wireless streaming. This means that calls from the smartphone are transmitted to the hearing aids without any additional accessories. This turns the hearing aid into a perfect hands-free device or wireless headphones. Listening to music or watching and hearing videos is also incredibly comfortable.

Another point on our checklist is handling. Does everything work simply and reliably? What does the hearing aid offer to ensure safe use in everyday life? The AQ Beat FS 9 R performs exceptionally well in situational recognition. Those who desire comprehensive and powerful full automation in their hearing aid and want to adjust as little as possible will be well served here. The adaptive algorithms untangle the individual sound events in the environment and present the soundscape clearly and precisely. A great bonus in this hearing aid is the automatic acclimatization. Especially for those who have been hearing poorly for a long time and then wear a hearing aid for the first time, this is an enormous relief. The volume does not have to be immediately turned up to its maximum. You can start at a lower level and gradually, almost imperceptibly, the amplification approaches the target.

A significant relief in everyday life is the integrated battery. This means that my AQ Beat FS 9 R always has enough energy for the entire day, and I no longer have to worry about the batteries suddenly running out in the middle of an event. Even with limited dexterity, a battery system is very helpful because it eliminates the need to insert small button cells.

The AQ Beat FS 9 is almost dustproof and waterproof and, with its IP 68 classification, is certainly well protected against external influences.

As there is more and more storage space available in apps or the hearing aids themselves, it's worth taking a look at potential extra features. Here's how it looks: Are you one of the tinnitus sufferers? Then you could use the optional tinnitus program in the AQ Beat FS 9 R. Soft, gentle sounds are tailored to your hearing and engage all areas of the inner ear. This is nothing more than a distraction maneuver, and it works surprisingly well. The tinnitus fades into the general noise and is no longer bothersome. This is a simple yet effective tool and receives extra points from us.

A very good added benefit comes from the remote maintenance service. Through the app, you can get in touch with your audiologist and describe your hearing problem. They can adjust the settings accordingly and upload them to the hearing aids via the app. For people with little time or a long commute, this is a great service.

If Hansaton had integrated motion sensors into this hearing aid, individual health tracking could even occur. However, this is not the case here. These points detract from the AQ Beat FS 9 R's score. This Hansaton hearing aid has no additional lifestyle options on board. Elsewhere, there are voice assistants or reminder functions, but you don't need those for good hearing. They would have just made the product a bit cooler.
