We are once again looking at an early widely used hearing aid for both mild and stronger hearing needs: This model is called Real 1 mini BTE T and comes from the company Oticon. It is worn behind the ear, and it is a discreet hearing aid. The Real 1 mini BTE T is a model from the premium segment. Let's see if the pricing classification is justified.
Hearing comfort
First, we examined the comfort features. The better these are, the easier and more pleasant the listening experience becomes. With this hearing aid, we were impressed by the excellent sound management. The traditional noise suppression ensures that uniform, unimportant sounds are slightly reduced. The Real 1 mini BTE T features one of the most powerful noise suppressions on the market. Here, the wind noise reduction is very solid and meets our needs in daily life.
Once you’ve experienced impulse sound suppression in a hearing aid, you don’t want to give it up. The Real 1 mini BTE T has this feature and can effortlessly handle all short and intense sound events. This includes, for example, the clattering of dishes in the kitchen or footstep noise on a hard floor. The hearing aid earns a big plus point for its excellent 3D hearing. Flexible, highly adaptive directional microphones allow for various directional characteristics and automatically adjust to the requirements of the situation. For a precise, lifelike listening experience, the number of adjustable frequency bands is of great importance. With 24, this Oticon device is a true top model, allowing for detailed fine-tuning over several years.
By the way, you might find that this Oticon device delivers sound that is clearer and more natural, especially in noisy environments. This is likely due to the implemented artificial intelligence. The hearing aid has already been fed with millions of real sounds, leading to significantly improved differentiation between speech and noise.

Operation & connectivity
How can one fully utilize the potential of hearing aids in everyday life? We found out what access options are available with the Real 1 mini BTE T. First, we discovered a button directly on the hearing aid. This is very practical, as it is the simplest and quickest way to make adjustments. The volume can be adjusted through it, and different hearing programs can also be activated. If one prefers not to make any adjustments directly at the ear, the button can of course be deactivated. We do like the small remote controls, and we found one for this model. This allows for discreet small changes in volume or sound.
Voice commands are a relatively new way of operating hearing aids. However, we do not have this option in this model yet. That's not really a problem - the main thing is that one can hear well. Another option for controlling the hearing aids is tapping control. You simply tap your ear with your fingers, which triggers a specific function. But this option is not available in this Oticon device.
The best way to adjust the Real 1 mini BTE T is with the associated app. The first apps in the past only had a single screen, but this one offers much more than just the usual volume control. We are clearly giving points for this. The Real 1 comes with a 2.4 GHz antenna and allows us to enjoy phone calls in both ears. This even gives us an advantage over normally hearing individuals. We appreciate that and are happy to award points.

Usability is the next aspect we want to focus on. This is about everyday practicality and the question of how easy and safe it is to live with the hearing aid. The Real 1 mini BTE T performs exceptionally well in situation recognition. Anyone who wishes for a comprehensive and powerful full automatic in their hearing aid and wants to adjust it as little as possible will be well served here. The adaptive algorithms untangle the individual sound events in the environment and present the soundscape clearly and precisely. We give a big plus point for the automatic acclimatization assistant. It gradually increases the starting volume in very small steps until my hearing goal is achieved. This greatly facilitates getting used to the new sound.
The Real 1 mini BTE T is not rechargeable. It operates with hearing aid batteries size 312. Disadvantage: The batteries are disposed of after use. Advantage: Daily recharging of batteries is eliminated; the hearing aid can run continuously for several days on a single battery.
The Real 1 is almost dust-proof and waterproof and, with its IP 68 classification, is certainly well protected against external influences.

Am Ende unseres Testberichtes gibt es noch ein bisschen Platz für die Extra-Features: Richtig gut gefallen hat uns das optionale Tinnitusprogramm. Es gibt doch relativ viele Menschen, die gelegentlich oder häufig von einem Pfeifen oder Rauschen im Ohr geplagt sind. Das Tinnitusprogramm im Real 1 mini BTE T ist eigentlich nichts weiter als ein Klanggenerator. Es geht darum, breitbandige Geräusche oder Klänge zu erzeugen, die sanft und angenehm alle Hörbereiche stimulieren. Der Tinnitus geht darin unter und wird nicht mehr als störend wahrgenommen.
Einen echten Mehrwert bietet der Fernwartungsdienst. Für eine Veränderung der Hörgeräteeinstellung muss man nicht mehr zwingend ins Fachgeschäft gehen, sondern kann direkt über die App Kontakt zum Akustiker aufnehmen. Über einen Cloud-Dienst kann man dann das neue Datenpaket in die Hörgeräte laden. Genau so etwas erwarten wir von einem zeitgemäßen Hörgerät.
Viele Hörgeräte haben heute noch ein paar Gesundheits-Funktionen dabei. Da das Real 1 mini BTE T aber keine speziellen Sensoren dafür hat, können wir hier keine Besonderheiten vorstellen. Mit Geräten wie diesem aus dem Hause Oticon werden unsere Testberichte immer länger, denn nun gibt es auch noch intelligente Zusatzfunktionen. Verschiedene Assistenten erleichtern Ihnen das Leben und werden in der App personalisiert. Zwingend nötig ist das nicht, macht aber riesig Spaß. Dafür gibt es eine gute Bewertung von uns.

Wer auf Spitzentechnik verzichten möchte, aber trotzdem einen bequemen Höralltag wünscht, der ist hier an der richtigen Stelle.
