The ReSound Nexia 4 62-DRW in review
Diese Technik wurde im Februar 2025 von den ReSound Vivia abgelöst ist daher nicht mehr ganz aktuell . Aus diesem Grund nehmen eine Abwertung in der Gesamtnote vor.
This test report introduces you to the Nexia 4 62-DRW from the manufacturer ReSound. Brief model classification: The Nexia 4 62-DRW is a small hearing aid that is worn behind the ear. It can compensate for almost any hearing need and is a hearing aid from a still moderate price category. A good sound is achieved through the speaker position in the ear canal, near the eardrum.
Hearing comfort
In the first chapter, we evaluate the quality of noise management. We refer to this as hearing comfort, as these features determine how pleasant the hearing aid wearer perceives the sound of their hearing aids. However, noises can be of various natures and require very different tools for suppression. In the Nexia 4 62-DRW, solid comfort programming is possible through the hearing care professional. First, we examine noise suppression. This is intended to tame everyday sounds such as the hum of ventilation or a refrigerator. In this ReSound model, we would rate noise reduction as mediocre. It is sufficient if you do not live in a very noisy environment.
Here, quick, sharp sounds are detected, but only moderately reduced. This device can recognize wind and slightly attenuate the noise. With 12 frequency bands, you can achieve a pretty good sound setting. A passionate musician might not be entirely satisfied with this, but for normal hearing and sound needs, this number is more than sufficient. Spatial hearing needs to be trained a bit with these hearing aids. Although the movable microphones help, their position at the top of the ear cup means that the spatial sound is not like that of a person with normal hearing. However, after a short adjustment period, spatial hearing works quite well.
Other hearing aids already utilize artificial intelligence in their signal processing, but this strategy is not yet present in the Nexia 4 62-DRW.
Rating Hearing comfort: 2,9
Operation & connectivity
Since you probably don't have your audiologist by your side all the time, it is quite helpful to be able to make changes to the hearing aid yourself. There are various operating options, and we will look at which ones the Nexia 4 62-DRW has. The simplest operating option is always a button directly on the hearing aid. This one has that as well. It can be programmed according to your wishes. Do you want a manual volume control? No problem, the button allows for a stepwise adjustment of the volume. Or do you need different special programs for your professional life or hobbies? These can also be activated via the button. Anyone who prefers to keep everything in automatic mode can simply ignore the button or even have it deactivated. Those who are not keen on touching their ear to adjust the volume will appreciate the optional remote control. This allows you to make changes to the hearing aid comfortably and discreetly.
Some hearing aids can already be controlled by voice, but this one from ReSound unfortunately cannot yet. It would be practical for those whose fingers are not as agile or for those who simply like smart gadgets. Some hearing aids can also be controlled with a quick tap of the finger, without having to press a button. However, this feature is not yet implemented here.
Operating the Nexia 4 62-DRW is relatively straightforward through the associated app. It comes with a ton of additional functions and has impressed us quite a bit. We particularly enjoyed using the equalizer during the test. As a person with normal hearing, one can almost feel envious, as such features are not yet found in wireless headphones. A streaming option would not be bad for our digital everyday life. The device at hand fulfills our wish and comes with a 2.4 GHz radio module. This allows phone calls and sounds to be sent directly from the smartphone to the hearing aids.
Rating Operation & connectivity: 1,3

Simplicity & security
Continuing with the test: How is the user-friendliness? Is it easy or complicated to deal with the hearing aid? An automatic environmental adjustment would certainly be helpful in everyday life, but unfortunately, it is not provided in the Nexia 4 62-DRW. Therefore, we have to rely on the manual adjustment options. A great feature of this hearing aid is the automatic acclimatization. Especially if you have been hearing poorly for a long time and then wear a hearing aid for the first time, this is a tremendous relief. The volume does not have to be turned up immediately to the maximum. You can start at a lower level and gradually and almost imperceptibly, the amplification approaches the target.
The 62-DRW from Nexia 4 operates with 13 disposable batteries; it is not rechargeable. This has its advantages and disadvantages. For the decision "Rechargeable or Battery," we have provided a guide here: Rechargeable hearing aids or batteries: 6 criteria for your decision.
With an IP 68 certification, the hearing aid can withstand various adverse conditions. Dust cannot penetrate, it can withstand prolonged immersion in water, and it is also protected against contact.
Rating Simplicity & security: 3,0
Extras
Before we come to the end, let's take a look at the extras: Worth mentioning is the tinnitus program. Those who are plagued by annoying ear noises will benefit from it. Pleasant, soft sounds are set up to gently surround the tinnitus. In the end, the tinnitus is submerged in the soundscape and no longer stands out as disturbing.
ReSound is keeping up with the times and provides a future-oriented feature with the remote adjustment service. Working people with little time can contact their audiologist online and have their hearing aids reprogrammed. Hearing aid users who have a longer commute to the specialist shop also benefit from this special service.
If ReSound had integrated motion sensors into this hearing aid, individual health tracking could even be possible. However, this is not the case here. These points are lost for the Nexia 4 62-DRW in the evaluation. The hearing aid does without additional functions such as special assistance systems, a fall alert, or language translators. This is not a major issue, as it does not impact the important hearing functions.
Rating Extras: 2,5
