Are you curious about this hearing aid from ReSound? Let's see what we have found out. The Nexia 7 61-DRW has been designed for mild, moderate, and severe hearing needs, and it is worn behind the ear. It is quite a small hearing aid at the highest quality level.
Thanks to the comfortable position of the speaker in the ear canal, we have a good, clear sound.
Hearing comfort
Right from the start, we deal with the topic of hearing comfort. By this, we mean all the features that ensure an overall pleasant, rich, and disturbance-free sound. In the Nexia 7 61-DRW, the manufacturer provides customers with comprehensive noise management.
Classic noise suppression is, of course, also present here. Its task is to detect and slightly soften simple sounds from the environment. In this ReSound model, the noise suppression can be adjusted to the customer's preference. Short, loud noises are quickly recognized and effectively reduced in the Nexia 7 61-DRW, thanks to an adjustable impulse silencer.
There is also wind management. We find this very good, as many people enjoy being outdoors. The reduction of wind noise occurs here at a moderate level. The spatial hearing has convinced us in everyday life. Although it is not true 3D hearing, one quickly forgets this when wearing the hearing aids. While the Nexia 7 61-DRW does not have many adjustable equalizer bands, the 14 should be sufficient for a good hearing experience. Other hearing aids are already using artificial intelligence in their signal processing, but this strategy is not yet in the Nexia 7 61-DRW.

Operation & connectivity
Buttons, switches, controls ... or would you prefer an app? Controls can significantly expand the functionality of hearing aids. Is there something like this in the Nexia 7 61-DRW? We checked. For those who want to quickly and easily adjust the volume, there is a button on the device. You can also select additional programs for special hearing situations. We do like the small remote controls, and we found one for this model. This allows you to discreetly make minor adjustments to the volume or sound.
We are always pleased when a hearing aid surprises us with a great additional feature. For example, we would have liked to see voice control here. However, there is currently no such feature in the Nexia 7 61-DRW. This ReSound model does not have the capability to control the hearing aids with a simple tap, as it would have needed specific sensors in the housing for that.
The operation of the Nexia 7 61-DRW is relatively simple via the associated app. It comes with a lot of additional features and impressed us quite a bit. We particularly enjoyed using the equalizer during our tests. As someone with normal hearing, one might even feel a bit envious since you won't find something like this with wireless headphones yet. You don't need headphones here anymore, as it has a wireless option and can transmit sounds directly from the smartphone to your ears – as long as the smartphone is equipped with 2.4 GHz LE technology.

Simplicity & security
Now let's briefly discuss the everyday practicality. Is the Nexia 7 61-DRW user-friendly and easy to handle? Does it have water protection? Here are our findings: Listening in daily life is made easier by the good program automation in the Nexia 7 61-DRW. It is rarely necessary to use the manual hearing programs because the automation already covers many situations. We are very pleased with the integrated acclimatization manager. It gradually raises the volume of the hearing aid in tiny steps until our target amplification is eventually reached. We can relax and gradually get used to the new hearing impressions.
The Nexia 7 61-DRW is not rechargeable. It continues to get its power from disposable batteries of size 312, which need to be replaced every few days.
With an IP 68 certification, the hearing aid can withstand a variety of adverse influences. Dust cannot penetrate, it can endure longer immersion in water, and it is also protected against contact.

Extras
Sometimes it's the little things that make a hearing aid perfect. That's why we briefly look for the extras that might be included: Worth mentioning is the tinnitus program. Those plagued by annoying ear noises will benefit from it. Pleasant, quiet sounds are set up to gently surround the tinnitus. In the end, the tinnitus blends into the background noise and becomes hardly noticeable.
The option for remote adjustment is something we really like. This is very helpful whenever you want to change just a small detail of the hearing aid settings but don’t want to make a trip to the hearing care professional. Instead, you can make contact via the app, and the hearing expert sends back an adjusted data package in the same way.
Many hearing aids still come with a few health functions today. However, since the Nexia 7 61-DRW doesn't have any special sensors for this, we can't present any particular features here. Other hearing aids do offer a few extended options such as a fall alarm or reminder functions. We don’t find that here, and that's not too dramatic, as the regular hearing functions are still the most important.
