The amplification performance is suitable for mild to profound hearing losses, and even just through the standard hearing aid with a thick or thin plastic tube, it has quite a decent sound. The Nexia 7 77 DWC is a slightly visible hearing aid from the highest segment. It is worn behind the ear.
Hearing comfort
Good speech understanding is a given in modern hearing aids. Equally important is hearing comfort. Only when the relationship between speech transmission and the level of background noise is right will hearing be perceived as pleasant. That’s why we take a look at the comfort features: The Nexia 7 77 DWC provides the customer with comprehensive noise management. Normal ambient sounds such as street noise, the sound of a vacuum cleaner, or that from a fan should be dampened by classic noise suppression. This ReSound hearing aid includes impressive, well-functioning noise reduction.
The suppression of short, loud sound events has convinced us here; it is quite effective. For windy outdoor situations, ReSound has provided wind noise reduction. This is quite useful and is simply part of modern comfort features. Spatial hearing works very reliably. Directional hearing is supported, and the spatial impression is good. With 14 frequency bands, you can set up a pretty good sound. A passionate musician may not be completely satisfied with this, but this number is more than sufficient for normal hearing and sound needs.
Strategies based on artificial intelligence are not yet implemented in this hearing aid from ReSound.

Sometimes it's not so bad if you can adjust the volume of the hearing aid a little, for example, when the neighbor is loudly mowing the lawn or someone is speaking very softly to you. Many models have special control functions for this reason. You can use them, but you don't have to. We looked into this with the Nexia 7 77 DWC: First, we discovered a button directly on the hearing aid. This is very practical because it's the easiest and fastest way to make a change. The volume can be adjusted through it, and different hearing programs can be activated. If you prefer not to adjust anything directly at the ear, you can of course deactivate the button. A remote control is available for the Nexia 7 77 DWC. It's quite handy, fits in your pocket, and offers a volume up and down option as well as various hearing programs.
Some hearing aids can already be controlled by voice, but this one from ReSound unfortunately cannot yet. That would be practical if your fingers are not so nimble anymore or if you simply like smart gadgets. This ReSound model does not have touch control for the hearing aids, as it would have required specific sensors in the casing.
Hearing aid apps are becoming increasingly popular. We are lucky with the Nexia 7 77 DWC: there is a suitable app. This app completely fascinated us. Not only are there numerous options to customize the hearing aids to your individual hearing preference, but the app also offers plenty of lifestyle features. You don't need headphones anymore because it has a wireless option and can stream sounds directly from the smartphone to your ears – if the smartphone is equipped with 2.4 GHz LE technology.

Its task is to gradually increase the volume of the hearing aid in tiny steps until the target volume is reached. This way, you can relax and gradually adapt to the new hearing impressions. The Nexia 7 77 DWC is rechargeable and no longer requires hearing aid batteries. This is environmentally friendly, as there are no used batteries to dispose of. At the same time, it is also extremely convenient, as no replacement batteries need to be carried. The hearing aids simply go into the charging station at night and are ready for use the next morning.
With IP 68 certification, the hearing aid can withstand various adverse influences. Dust cannot penetrate, it can withstand prolonged immersion in water, and it is also protected against contact.

Now we have looked at the main features of the hearing aid. But before we conclude, we want to know if there are any additional features: We really liked the optional tinnitus program. There are relatively many people who are occasionally or frequently plagued by a buzzing or ringing in their ears. The tinnitus program in the Nexia 7 77 DWC is basically just a sound generator. Its purpose is to produce broadband sounds or noises that gently and pleasantly stimulate all areas of hearing. The tinnitus is masked and no longer perceived as disturbing.
A clever tool is the integrated remote maintenance service. Almost everyone has a smartphone, and time is a precious commodity. Therefore, such a remote maintenance service is absolutely appropriate. Those who require a new programming for their hearing aids can simply contact the audiologist via the app and describe their hearing preferences. Through a cloud service, the professional can then send an individual adjustment as a data package to the app. From there, it is uploaded to the hearing aid and can be tested immediately. That definitely deserves extra points in our test.
Some hearing aids can track certain health data. However, this requires special sensors in the hearing aid, which we unfortunately do not have in the Nexia 7 77 DWC. This ReSound hearing aid does not have any additional lifestyle options on board. Elsewhere, there are voice assistants or reminder functions, but for good hearing, those are not necessary. It would have just made the product a bit cooler.

Wer auf Spitzentechnik verzichten möchte, aber trotzdem einen bequemen Höralltag wünscht, der ist hier an der richtigen Stelle.
