The Quattro NEO 9 77-DWT by ReSound is a traditional behind-the-ear hearing aid. The customer receives a small hearing aid from the upper mid-range that can compensate for mild, moderate, and severe hearing needs.

What is bothersome for most hearing aid users: Exactly, background noise. That's why we first look at what comfort features the test device includes. The Quattro NEO 9 77-DWT provides customers with comprehensive noise management. Normal noise cancellation is certainly present. It is designed to dampen constant sounds like road noise or the hum of the air conditioning. Our test device from ReSound incorporates a highly effective and additionally adjustable noise reduction. This ensures that hearing remains very comfortable even in challenging environments.
Short and sharp sounds are usually annoying, but this model features adjustable impulse sound control. As a result, sounds like cutlery clattering, slamming drawers, or rustling newspapers are no longer perceived as unpleasant. The Quattro NEO 9 77-DWT is equipped with incredibly good wind detection. Nothing stands in the way of a walk by the sea. With 17 frequency channels, the Quattro NEO 9 77-DWT clearly belongs to the better devices and allows for individual, well-sounding programming. The hearing aid receives high marks for its excellent 3D hearing. Flexible, highly adaptive directional microphones allow for various directional characteristics and automatically adjust to the demands of the respective situation.

The control options for hearing aids today are as simple or as complex as anyone would like. The basic functions operate fully automatically, of course. We wanted to know how users can access the Quattro NEO 9 77-DWT beyond that. The simplest control option is always a button directly on the hearing aid. This one has that too. It can be programmed according to your wishes. Do you want manual volume control? No problem, the button allows for stepwise adjustment of the volume. Or do you need different special programs for your professional daily life or hobbies? These can also be activated via the button. Anyone who wants to keep everything in automatic mode can simply ignore the button or even have it disabled. If you prefer not to touch your ear to adjust the volume, you will appreciate the optional remote control. This allows you to make changes to the hearing aid comfortably and discreetly.
Voice commands are a relatively new way to operate hearing aids. However, this model does not include this feature yet. That's not a big deal - the main thing is that one can hear well. Some hearing aids can also be controlled with a simple fingertip touch, without needing to press a button. However, this feature has not been implemented here yet.
Smartphone apps are now often offered for better operability of hearing aids. In our assessment, the ReSound app is one of the better ones because it offers a good set of adjustment options. You no longer need headphones, as it has a wireless option and can transmit sounds directly from the smartphone to the ears – provided the smartphone is equipped with 2.4 GHz LE technology.

An important factor for the acceptance of a hearing aid is its practicality in everyday life. This includes automated functions as well as robustness and user-friendliness. The Quattro NEO 9 77-DWT features an extensive set of stored hearing situations. When a typical pattern is recognized, the hearing aid automatically activates the correct setting. Support during the acclimatization phase is very important in terms of simplicity for us. After having heard poorly for years, it can sometimes be difficult to perceive everything at a natural volume. Our test device includes an acclimatization manager that assists us with very small volume adjustments throughout the adaptation period. After a few weeks or months, we then reach the calculated amplification level.
The Quattro NEO 9 77-DWT gets its energy from small disposable batteries that need to be changed every few days. While this is not a daunting task, it should be considered, especially in cases of motor difficulties. A rechargeable battery would be significantly easier to handle.
The datasheet certifies the ReSound device with an IP rating of 68. This makes it one of the most resilient hearing aids on the market. Dust has no chance, and water cannot penetrate the housing unless submerged deeper than 1.5 meters. However, be cautious. Shampoo, for example, alters the surface tension of water. You should also avoid saltwater. In everyday life, though, you can behave completely carefree.

Sometimes, hearing aids have additional features that can be quite useful. Let's see how it is with this ReSound device: A special tinnitus program can be programmed on request in the Quattro NEO 9 77-DWT. It generates stimulating, pleasant sounds that distract from the tinnitus when it is particularly strong. We find this very useful and gladly give extra points.
The option for remote adjustment is something we really like. It is especially helpful when you only want to make a small change to the hearing aid settings, but don't want to drive to the hearing care professional. Instead, you contact them via the app, and the hearing expert sends back an adjusted data package in the same way.
Some hearing aids can track certain health data. However, this requires special sensors in the hearing aid, which we unfortunately do not have in the Quattro NEO 9 77-DWT. The ReSound device focuses on essential hearing functions and does not offer extras like voice assistants or translation features. While that could have been fun, it is not necessary for a good listening experience.
