The Signia Pure 3 AX 312 in review
Dieses Hörgerät ist nun schon etwas älter und wurde von Signia IX abgelöst. Für die fehlende Aktualität haben wir eine Abwertung der Gesamtnote vorgenommen.
Here we take a look at a hearing aid from the upper mid-range that is worn behind the ear. It is called Pure 3 AX 312 and comes from the manufacturer Signia. It can be used by all people who have both mild and more significant hearing needs and desire a discreet hearing aid. Due to the discreet and simultaneously intelligent placement of the speaker in the ear canal, it has very good sound characteristics.
Hearing comfort
We all agree that speech understanding is the most important task of hearing aids. However, from our experience in the hearing acoustics retail industry, we also know that hearing comfort is at least equally important. It is about processing background noise so that it does not hinder speech understanding while still creating a natural sound picture. A solid comfort programming by the hearing care professional is possible when testing the Pure 3 AX 312. Let’s take a look at the individual features:
Of course, this Signia device has noise suppression, as it has become standard. Noise suppression means that uniform and rather monotonous sounds (e.g., air conditioning, vacuum cleaner...) are dampened. We would rate the noise reduction as average. It is sufficient unless you live in a very noisy environment.
There is also a so-called bang filter here. It mitigates short and loud noises a bit. This is a useful function; however, we would have liked a bit more depth in controlling it. We rate the wind management as average, but it works. The 12 equalizer bands provide a solid basis for programming the Pure 3 AX 312. As sound junkies, we would wish for a few more, but one can create a fairly reasonable sound picture for the typical situations we encounter in our daily lives. Adaptive microphone systems make spatial hearing easier. However, you need to get used to the new sound a bit; especially at the beginning, it may not always be clear where a sound is coming from.
The app also features a special assistance function based on artificial intelligence. With this, you can find a very personal setting for your hearing aids that significantly improves hearing comfort in a specific moment or typical situation.

Signia Pure 3 AX 312:
Operation & connectivity
The majority of functions are activated automatically by this Signia model. However, it can be very useful to expand the range of functions a bit. In our test, we found out what options we have here. For those who want to quickly and easily adjust the volume, there is a button on the device. Additional programs for special listening situations can also be selected through it. The small remote control, which is optionally available, is very practical. For us, it's one of the most convenient ways to turn the hearing aid louder or quieter or switch to another hearing program. No one notices it; there’s no need to touch the ear.
There has been a trend for some time now to adjust hearing aids louder or quieter using voice commands. The idea is really good, but Signia is not quite there yet with this device. Don’t worry, this feature would be nice, but it is not essential. Another option for controlling the hearing aids is a tap control. You simply tap your ear with your fingers, which in turn triggers a specific function. However, this option is not available in this Signia device.
The app is definitely very useful. Anyone with a smartphone should download it. Even though the app is not one of our favorites, it is still a useful addition to the Pure 3 AX 312. One of the best features of the hearing aid is the direct streaming function. This turns the hearing aid into a TrueWireless earbuds, receiving calls and other sounds directly in the ear. The prerequisite is a suitable smartphone that supports 2.4 GHz technology. The biggest advantage is that you can hear calls not just in one ear, but in both. Additionally, the sound can be adjusted to personal preferences.
Rating Operation & connectivity: 2,0

Simplicity & security
Continuing with the test: How is the user-friendliness? Is it easy or complicated to handle the hearing aid? Typical hearing situations that everyone experiences in their environment are reliably recognized and adjusted through automatic settings. However, for more specific, recurring needs, one cannot avoid using the manual hearing programs. The integrated acclimatization manager can be of great help when starting out in the world of hearing aids. Its task is to gradually increase the volume of the hearing aid in tiny steps until the target volume is reached. This way, you can relax and gradually adapt to the new hearing impressions. More information on acclimatization and other hearing aids with this feature can be found here: Acclimatization to Hearing Aids.
The Pure 3 AX 312 relies on battery power instead of rechargeable batteries. Advantage: Very long life with one battery. Unlike battery solutions, you rarely have to worry about the power supply. Disadvantage: Waste is generated in the form of used batteries. This hearing aid uses a hearing aid battery of size 312.
We enjoyed an carefree everyday life in our test due to the IP-68 certification. This indicates that the hearing aid is particularly well protected against dust and water. We marched through the rain and then took the hearing aids out with wet hands - it was no problem at all. However, the water resistance only applies to fresh, natural water and not to foamy bath water or saltwater.
Rating Simplicity & security: 2,3
Extras
Sometimes hearing aids come with additional features that can be quite useful. Let's see how it is with this Signia device: We really enjoyed the optional tinnitus program. There are quite a few people who are occasionally or frequently plagued by a whistling or buzzing in their ears. The tinnitus program in the Pure 3 AX 312 is actually just a sound generator. It aims to produce broadband noises or sounds that gently and pleasantly stimulate all hearing areas. The tinnitus is masked and no longer perceived as disturbing.
We find the remote maintenance service quite exciting, which can be utilized. If one has no opportunity to go to the audiologist, they can instead contact them via the app, briefly describe their hearing problem, and then receive a data package with a new hearing aid configuration. If it sounds good, they can upload it to their hearing aids.
Personal health is an important topic, which is why Signia provides its customers with a great feature: health tracking. For example, physical activity is logged over a period of time. Sensors capture this data and then present it graphically in the associated app. The Signia device focuses on essential hearing functions and does not offer extras like voice assistants or translation features. While that would have been fun, it is not necessary for a good hearing experience.
