Signia introduces the Pure 3 X 312T, a model from the upper mid-range segment. It can address nearly every hearing need. It is a small hearing aid that delivers good sound through the innovative placement of the speaker directly in the ear canal. It is worn behind the ear.

Hearing comfort

The listening comfort determines whether someone enjoys wearing their hearing aids or not. That’s why we first looked at how the hearing aid handles background noise. With this model that Signia presents, a solid comfort programming is possible through the audiologist. Of course, noise suppression is integrated to mitigate exhausting background sounds. The Pure 3 X 312T features a fairly well-functioning noise reduction. A quite solid wind management is available in the Pure 3 X 312T and should be sufficient for everyday use.

A pulse sound suppressor for short, explosive noises is sensibly integrated here and is completely adequate for daily life. The device recognizes whether the microphones should transmit everything or orient themselves forward. This can help in conversation situations, but it doesn’t replace true spatial hearing. Although the Pure 3 X 312T doesn't have many adjustable equalizer bands, the 12 available should be enough for a good listening experience.

Sometimes the audiologist is not nearby when a hearing problem arises. The Pure 3 X 312T helps you with its app, as there is a special assistant that makes precise adjustments to your hearing moment based on artificial intelligence.

Operation & connectivity

Almost every one of us owns a smartphone, so the question arises whether it can also be connected to the new hearing aid. Let’s take a look at how connectivity and usability stand with the Pure 3 X 312T. There is usually a button on the hearing aid, and we found one on the Pure 3 X as well. It can be configured as a volume control or program selection button and can also be deactivated if desired. We do like the small remote controls, and we found one for this model. This allows for discreet adjustments to the volume or sound.

Some hearing aids can already be controlled by voice, but unfortunately, this one from Signia cannot yet. It would be practical when fingers are not as nimble or when one simply likes smart gadgets. Some hearing aids can also be activated with a quick tap, without the need to press a button. However, this feature has not been implemented here yet.

As is common today, we also find a smartphone app for the Pure 3 X 312T. This app contains solid basic functions and adds a few goodies on top. The Pure 3 X comes with a 2.4 GHz antenna and allows us to enjoy binaural phone calls. This even gives us an advantage over normal hearers. We appreciate this and are happy to give points.

Usability is the next aspect we want to focus on. This is about everyday practicality and the question of how easy and safe it is to navigate life with the hearing aid. The Pure 3 X 312T automatically accesses the most important hearing settings, making daily use easier. However, those who frequently experience changing acoustic environments should consider getting the manual additional programs configured. We are very pleased with the integrated acclimatization manager. It gradually increases the volume of the hearing aid in tiny steps until our target amplification is eventually reached. We can relax and gradually get used to the new hearing impressions.

Unfortunately, the Pure 3 X 312T is not equipped with a rechargeable battery, so regular size 312 batteries are required for operation.

With an IP 68 certification, the hearing aid can withstand a variety of adverse influences. Dust cannot penetrate, it can endure immersion in water for extended periods, and it is also protected against contact.

Finally, let's briefly see if there are any extras: Signia has integrated a noise generator that plays some soothing sounds for those suffering from tinnitus. This can help distract from the tinnitus and provide a bit more relaxation.

There is a very good added benefit from the remote maintenance offering. Through the app, you can contact your audiologist and describe your hearing problem. They can adjust the settings accordingly and load them into the hearing aids via the app. For people with little time or a long journey, this is a great service.

Many hearing aids today still come with a few health functions. However, since the Pure 3 X 312T does not have any special sensors for this, we cannot present any unique features here. It would have been nice to have a few lifestyle functions, but those are not available in the Pure 3 X 312T. Other hearing aids may excel with speech translation or fall alerts, but here it remains within the usual range of functions.
