In the test, we discovered the following access options: Usually, there is a button on the hearing aid, and we found one on the Evolv AI 1200 as well. It can be configured as a volume control or program selection button, and can also be deactivated if desired. The small remote control, which is available as an option, is very practical. For us, it’s one of the most comfortable ways to adjust the hearing aid louder or quieter or to switch to another hearing program. No one notices, and reaching for the ear is not necessary.
We are always pleased when a hearing aid surprises us with a great additional feature. For example, we would have liked to see voice control at this point. However, it is currently not available in the Evolv AI 1200 HdO R. We were quite impressed with the tap control during testing. Simply tap your ear briefly, and your Starkey hearing aid knows it needs to do something. We were already familiar with this sensor-controlled technology from wireless headphones, and it’s great that it is now available in hearing aids as well.
Smartphone apps are now often offered for better usability of hearing aids. In our assessment, Starkey's app is among the better ones because it provides a good set of adjustment options. A streaming option would not be bad for our digital everyday lives. The present device fulfills our wish and brings a 2.4 GHz wireless module with it. This allows you to send phone calls and sounds directly from the smartphone to the hearing aids.

However, once the acoustic conditions become more demanding, with various noise sources appearing simultaneously, you might have to make some adjustments to the hearing aid yourself. Some people struggle with the adjustment, but this hearing aid makes it easy for us to cope with the new volume. There is a fitting manager that gradually leads us to the required target amplification. The duration can last from a few weeks to several months, and it can be individually adjusted. The individual steps are so small that you hardly notice when there has been an increase in volume.
A major relief in everyday life is the integrated battery. With this, my Evolv AI 1200 R always has enough energy for the whole day, and I no longer have to worry that the batteries will suddenly run out in the middle of an event. Even for those with limited dexterity, a battery system is very helpful since it eliminates the need for inserting small button cells.
With IP 68 certification, the hearing aid can withstand various adverse conditions. Dust cannot penetrate it, it can withstand being submerged in water for a longer period, and it is also protected against touches.
