The Widex Moment 220 CIC in review
Widex offers the Moment 220 CIC, a small mini hearing aid that is worn behind the ear. It is an affordable hearing aid from the upper mid-range and is suitable for moderate, more severe, and fluctuating hearing losses. The wearing position directly in the ear canal ensures that sound reaches the eardrum without losses.
Hearing comfort
The listening comfort determines whether someone likes to wear their hearing aids or not. That's why we first looked at how the hearing aid handles background noise. With this model that Widex presents to us, solid comfort programming by the hearing aid acoustician is possible. Of course, noise suppression is integrated to mitigate tiring background noises. In the Moment 220 CIC, we shouldn't expect too much. Speech and sounds are quite close together here. However, in acoustically simple situations, this should be sufficient. Those who enjoy being outdoors will like this Widex device. Normally, wind noises can be somewhat bothersome, but here they are not an issue because the ear cup offers good mechanical protection.
The impulse sound management is relatively straightforward; it slightly dampens loud short sounds, which is acceptable. With the Moment 220 CIC, there is no need to reconstruct 3D hearing, as it remains completely intact. This is made possible by the deep fit in the ear canal. We also look at the number of equalizer bands: Widex provides 10. We are not really satisfied with this; the possibilities for sound shaping are quite limited. But for good speech understanding, it is sufficient.
Other hearing aids already use artificial intelligence in their signal processing, but the Moment 220 CIC does not yet employ this strategy.

Widex Moment 220 CIC:
Operation & connectivity
“Can I adjust something on my hearing aid myself?” “Is there perhaps an app?” These and similar questions are becoming increasingly important when choosing a hearing aid, so let's take a look at the control and connection options. There are no controls directly on the hearing aid. For space reasons, a button is sometimes omitted. A remote control is available for the Moment 220 CIC. It's quite practical, fits in your pocket, and offers a volume control option as well as various hearing programs.
Some hearing aids can already be controlled by voice, but this one from Widex unfortunately cannot yet. It would be practical for those whose fingers are not very mobile or for those who simply like smart gadgets. Tap Control would also have been an interesting feature. With that, you could change the function with a quick tap on the ear. However, this is not yet available in the Moment 220 CIC.
There is a free app available in the app stores that can be used if desired. We tried it out and were relatively quick to go through it. The range of functions is rather modest. Nevertheless, it is a convenient and discreet way to temporarily adjust the Moment 220 CIC. In the test, we also tried a small add-on tool, a streamer. This connects the hearing aids wirelessly with all kinds of mobile devices. This wireless transmission function was one of the most useful elements in this hearing aid. We were able to make phone calls wonderfully and heard the conversation in both ears. Also, we could easily listen to music while jogging or enjoy a podcast during our lunch break at our desired volume without bothering other people.

The best alternatives to the Moment 220 CIC
Our database contains 1 reviews of hearing aids with similar technical features to this one (i.e., in sehr kompakter Bauform in Size "", not rechargable, geeignet für Hörverlust-Grad leicht, mittel & stark). Here are the top 0 (Redaktionsstand 02.10.2025):
Simplicity & security
User-friendliness is the next aspect we want to focus on. It’s about practicality for everyday use and the question of how easy and safe it is to live with the hearing aid. Hearing is significantly enhanced by good situational awareness. In the Moment 220 CIC, we have found a fairly solid automatic system that handles most common listening situations well. This could be sufficient if the acoustic conditions are not too challenging. We give a big plus point for the automatic acclimatization assistant. It gradually increases the starting volume in very small steps until my hearing goal is reached. This greatly facilitates getting used to the new sound.
The Moment 220 CIC is not rechargeable. It continues to get its energy from disposable size 10 batteries, which need to be replaced every few days.
We also take a look at the robustness of the casing and discover in the datasheet the protection class IP 68. This means dust cannot penetrate at all, and water only becomes dangerous after longer submersion. Protection against contact is also included.

Widex Moment 220 CIC:
Extras
Finally, we want to know if the hearing aid perhaps offers any specials: Here we noticed the tinnitus option. Anyone who wants can have a special tinnitus program set up. It applies a gentle noise to the ears if needed, to distract a little from the annoying tinnitus. The sounds can be customized according to personal hearing preferences.
A clever tool is the integrated remote service. Almost everyone has a smartphone, and time is a precious commodity. Therefore, such a remote service is absolutely appropriate. Those who need a new programming for their hearing aids can easily contact the acoustician via the app and describe their hearing wishes. Through a cloud service, the professional can then send an individual setting as a data package to the app. From there, it is loaded onto the hearing aid and can be tried out immediately. This definitely earns extra points in our test.
If Widex had integrated motion sensors into this hearing aid, individual health tracking could even be carried out. However, this is not the case here. These points are lost for the moment 220 CIC in the evaluation. The hearing aid does without additional features such as special assistance systems, a fall alarm, or language translators. This is not a major problem, as it does not affect the important hearing functions.

Conclusion: Widex Moment 220 CIC
With a final grade of 2.8, this model holds its ground in the mid-range category. It has a decent level of comfort features on board, which suffices for typical everyday moments and provides a satisfactory listening experience.
