The Widex Moment 220 ITE 312 XP in review
The Moment 220 ITE 312 XP from Widex is a small hearing aid that is worn behind the ear. Thanks to its placement in the front part of the ear canal, very good sound transmission is possible. The Moment 220 ITE 312 XP is a hearing aid from a still moderate price category and is suitable for mild, moderate, and also profound hearing losses.
Hearing comfort
First, we looked at the comfort features. The better these are, the easier and more pleasant the listening experience becomes. This hearing aid allows for solid comfort programming by the hearing care professional. The traditional noise suppression ensures that uniform, unimportant sounds are slightly reduced. With the Moment 220 ITE 312 XP, you shouldn’t have too high expectations. Street noise outside will surely be sufficiently diminished, but what is loud will also remain loud. This model can do without wind noise management. The hearing aid sits so far in the ear canal that wind noise doesn't even become a problem.
At least, the Moment 220 ITE 312 XP includes a so-called impulse filter. But is that always enough? Spatial hearing needs to be trained a bit with these hearing aids. Although the movable microphones help, their position on top of the ear shell means that the spatial sound is not like that of a normal hearing person. However, after a short adjustment period, spatial hearing works quite well. An important point in our tests is the number of frequency bands. This plays a role in the precise programming of the hearing aids. It is also crucial for distinguishing between speech and sounds. Here we have 10 bands. There could certainly have been a few more, as this means we unfortunately cannot make such fine adjustments. However, those who do not place a high value on a brilliant sound experience could manage quite well with the Moment 220 ITE 312 XP.
The signal processing is based, among other things, on typical frequency patterns of speech and noise, but artificial intelligence is not yet in use here.

Operation & connectivity
Almost every one of us owns a smartphone, so the question arises whether it can be connected to the new hearing aid. Let's take a look at the connectivity and operability of the Moment 220 ITE 312 XP. Often there is a button on the hearing aid, but we couldn't find one on this model. Sometimes, to favor a smaller design, this control element is omitted. That's not too dramatic since most functions in the hearing aid operate automatically anyway. Those who don't like to touch their ear to adjust the volume will appreciate the optional remote control. This allows for convenient and discreet changes to the hearing aid.
Some hearing aids can already be controlled by voice, but this one from Widex cannot yet. It would be practical when fingers aren't as agile or if one simply enjoys smart gadgets. Besides buttons or remote controls, some hearing aids also have tap control. This means you can just tap your ear briefly, and the device will switch. However, we don't have that here at Widex; it would have required specific sensors.
An appropriate app is also provided. In everyday life, the app should suffice, but it doesn't offer much more than a volume function and accessing various hearing programs. In our tests, we also tried a small additional tool, a streamer. It connects the hearing aids wirelessly to all kinds of mobile devices. This wireless transmission function was one of the most useful elements in this hearing aid. We could make phone calls wonderfully and heard the conversation in both ears. We could also enjoy music while jogging or a podcast during our lunch break at our desired volume, without disturbing other people.

Widex Moment 220 ITE 312 XP:
Extras
In conclusion, we want to know if the hearing aid perhaps offers any specials: Here we noticed the tinnitus option. If desired, one can set up a special tinnitus program. This applies a gentle noise to the ears if needed to distract from the annoying tinnitus. The sounds can be customized according to personal hearing preferences.
Widex keeps up with the times and provides a future-oriented feature with the remote adjustment service. Working individuals with little time can contact their audiologist online and have their hearing aids reprogrammed. Hearing aid users who have a longer commute to the specialist shop also benefit from this special service.
At this moment, the 220 variant does not have sensors, so the popular health tracking cannot be offered. For example, daily steps are counted. As mentioned - this hearing aid does not have this function. It would have been nice to have some lifestyle features, but there are currently none in the 220 ITE 312 XP. Other hearing aids can score with a language translator or fall alarm, but here it remains with the usual range of features.
