The Audio Service BM7 6 HdO in review
Die Technik dieser Gerätefamilie ist bereits überholt. Wir haben die Bewertung deshalb mit einem Abschlag in der Gesamtnote versehen. Zur neuesten Chiptechnik des Herstellers geht es hier entlang: Audio Service G8
We are once again looking at a traditional hearing aid for mild to severe hearing loss: This model is called BM7 6 BTE and comes from the company Audio Service. It is worn behind the ear, and it is a discreet, small hearing aid. The BM7 6 BTE is a model from an affordable price range. Let's see if the pricing is justified.
Hearing comfort
In the category of hearing comfort, we look at how a hearing aid handles all the background noises. Comfortable noise management significantly contributes to a user liking and regularly wearing their hearing aids. With this audio service device, we find only the absolute essentials in terms of hearing comfort. The regular noise cancellation has the task of softening uniform, hissing background noises. In the BM7 6 RIC, your expectations shouldn't be too high. Street noise outside will certainly be adequately reduced, but what is loud will also remain loud.
Short, loud sounds can also be detected by this device. However, the attenuation is very low. Anyone who frequently has such impulsive noises in their surroundings should choose a different model. For active outdoor fans, we always find wind noise management useful. This device does have one, but it is not very powerful. It cannot be individually adjusted either. Unfortunately, spatial hearing is not very developed. The hearing aids can focus forward, but that doesn’t help when trying to determine from which direction a car is approaching or where someone is calling from. With 8 frequency channels, we are not entirely satisfied in the RIC, but for uncomplicated hearing curves, it should suffice. The sound will probably not be very natural with this setup.
Other hearing aids already use artificial intelligence in their signal processing, but this strategy is not yet present in the BM7 6 RIC.
Rating Hearing comfort: 4,7
Operation & connectivity
Although hearing aids are now very intelligent, they still cannot read the mind of the hearing aid user. Thus, the automation sometimes hits its limits. Individual adjustment options can be really useful, so let's take a quick look at the options available with the BM7 6 RIC: First, we discovered a button directly on the hearing aid. This makes a lot of sense, as it is the easiest and quickest way to make a change. The volume can be adjusted through this, and different hearing programs can also be activated. If someone prefers not to adjust anything directly at the ear, the button can of course be disabled. A remote control is available for the BM7 6 RIC. It's quite practical, fits in the pocket, and offers a volume up/down option as well as different hearing programs.
We are always pleased when a hearing aid surprises us with a great additional feature. For example, we would have liked to see voice control at this point. However, that is currently not available in the BM7 6 RIC. Some hearing aids can also be controlled with a quick tap of the finger, without needing to press an extra button. This feature has not yet been implemented here.
Audio Service offers a suitable app for easier operation. However, it is not particularly well equipped and hardly goes beyond the basic functions such as volume up/down and hearing programs. We really enjoyed the direct, wireless streaming. This means that calls from a smartphone are transmitted to the hearing aids without any additional accessories. The hearing aid thus becomes the perfect hands-free system or wireless headphones. Listening to music or watching and hearing videos is incredibly comfortable.

Simplicity & security
For the next chapter, we subjected the hearing aid to a small practical test. We wanted to know if it is easy to use and uncomplicated in everyday life. Typical hearing situations that everyone experiences in their environment are reliably recognized and adjusted through automatic settings. However, for more specific, recurring needs, one cannot avoid using the manual hearing programs. We give a big plus for the automatic acclimatization assistant. It raises the starting volume in very small steps until my hearing goal is reached. This greatly facilitates the adjustment to the new sound.
Unfortunately, BM7 6 HdO is not equipped with a battery, so you need to regularly use size 13 batteries for operation.
We experienced a carefree daily life in our test due to the IP-68 certification. This indicates that the hearing aid is particularly well protected against dust and water. We walked through the rain and then took out the hearing aids with wet hands - all no problem. However, the water resistance really only pertains to fresh, natural water and not soapy bathwater or saltwater.
Rating Simplicity & security: 2,3
Extras
We complete the test by looking to see if there are a few extras for you: Here we noticed the tinnitus option. Anyone who likes can have a special tinnitus program set up. This gently creates a soothing noise to distract from the annoying tinnitus if needed. The sounds can be designed according to personal hearing preferences.
A real added value is the remote maintenance service. For a change of the hearing aid settings, it's no longer necessary to go to the specialist store; instead, you can contact the audiologist directly through the app. You can then load the new data package into the hearing aids via a cloud service. This is exactly what we expect from a modern hearing aid.
If Audio Service had integrated motion sensors into this hearing aid, individual health tracking could even take place. However, that is not the case here. These points cost the BM7 6 HdO in the rating. Other hearing aids already offer a few extended options like a fall alarm or reminder functions. We do not find that here, and that's not so dramatic, as the normal hearing functions are still the most important.

Conclusion: Audio Service BM7 6 HdO
In the overall result, this test device ranks in the lower positions and lacks some features. We award a score of 3.88. This is acceptable for less demanding listeners, but for a very active lifestyle, we recommend a hearing aid with more extensive comfort features.
