The Audio Service BP7 6 HdO in review
Die Technik dieser Gerätefamilie ist bereits überholt. Wir haben die Bewertung deshalb mit einem Abschlag in der Gesamtnote versehen. Zur neuesten Chiptechnik des Herstellers geht es hier entlang: Audio Service G8
Today we have a hearing aid, as known from the past, called BP7 6 BTE on our test agenda. The manufacturer Audio Service has designed it for moderate, more severe, and fluctuating hearing losses and for wearing behind the ear. In terms of price, it is a model at a rather affordable price. So, let's take a look:
Hearing comfort
First, we assess the hearing comfort features. What types of sounds does the hearing aid recognize? How does it handle them? Is the hearing aid suitable for a varied daily life? Here with this test device, we find only the absolute essentials regarding hearing comfort. As with all hearing aids, we also find the typical noise cancellation here. It is intended to reduce monotonous, noisy background sounds to the point where they are not so prominent. With the BP7 6 HdO, we shouldn't expect too much. Speech and sounds are quite close together here. But in acoustically simple situations, this should be sufficient.
This hearing aid can detect wind noise, but the reduction is hardly noticeable. According to the manufacturer, impulse sound suppression is integrated, but we could hardly feel it. Let's briefly look at the equalizer: With 8 bands, it is not particularly flexible. With a few more channels, we would certainly have achieved a nicer, more natural sound experience. But at least we can already reasonably adjust the sound to our hearing preferences. A natural spatial hearing is lacking in this device, which poses some difficulties in daily life. We can no longer reliably determine directions. Those with limited vision should opt for a different hearing aid.
Sometimes we encounter hearing aids that successfully process data using artificial intelligence, but that is not yet the case with this device.
Rating Hearing comfort: 4,7
Operation & connectivity
Basically, the hearing aids operate fully automatically, which is also the mode preferred by most people. However, it can be quite useful to switch to a different hearing program or simply adjust the volume in a difficult situation. Therefore, let's take a quick look at the control options of the BP7 6 HdO. There is a button directly on the hearing aid that allows you to change the volume or activate additional hearing programs. It can be programmed according to customer preferences. The use of this feature is, of course, optional. If desired, there is a remote control for the hearing aid, making it easy to adjust the volume. Handling it is not only child’s play, but no one will notice that you are adjusting your hearing aids.
The modern form of operation via voice command is not yet available in the BP7 6 HdO. There is no control of the hearing aids with a simple fingertip in this Audio Service model, as it would have required specific sensors in the housing.
Audio Service offers a suitable app for easier operation. However, it is not particularly well-equipped and hardly goes beyond basic functions such as loud/quiet and hearing programs. Problems with phone calls on smartphones are a thing of the past with this device. Phone calls, music, and other sounds are completely transmitted wirelessly to the hearing aids. Headphones become unnecessary. We tested the wireless transmission during longer phone calls and while listening to music during sports. Everything worked simply and smoothly. Only a suitable smartphone with 2.4 GHz wireless technology is needed.
Rating Operation & connectivity: 2,2

Simplicity & security
Continuing with the test: How is the user-friendliness? Is it easy or complicated to handle the hearing aid? The built-in situation recognition in the BP7 6 HdO is more in the mid-range. The most important loud and quiet situations are recognized and adapted. However, for acoustically more complex moments, this is not quite sufficient, as you cannot avoid additional manual adjustment options. The integrated acclimatization manager can be a great help when entering the world of hearing aids. Its task is to gradually increase the volume of the hearing aid in tiny steps until the target volume is reached. This way, you can relax and gradually get used to the new hearing experiences. More information on acclimatization and additional hearing aids with this feature is summarized here: Acclimatization to hearing aids.
The BP7 6 HdO is not rechargeable. It continues to get its energy from size 13 disposable batteries, which need to be replaced every few days.
The data sheet certifies the Audio Service device with an IP protection class 68 certification. This makes it one of the most resilient hearing aids on the market. Dust has no chance, and water does not penetrate the housing as long as it does not submerge deeper than 1.5 m. However, still be cautious. Shampoo, for example, alters the surface tension of water. You should also avoid saltwater. In daily life, however, you can behave completely carefree.
Rating Simplicity & security: 2,3
Extras
As there is increasingly more storage space in apps or in the hearing aids themselves, it is worth taking a look at possible extra features. Here’s what it looks like: The tinnitus program is definitely worth mentioning. Those troubled by annoying ear noises will benefit from it. Pleasant, soft sounds are set in such a way that they gently accompany the tinnitus. In the end, the tinnitus fades into the soundscape and is no longer disturbing at all.
A clever tool is the integrated remote maintenance service. Almost everyone has a smartphone, and time is a precious commodity. Therefore, such a remote maintenance service is absolutely appropriate. Anyone needing a new programming of their hearing aids can easily get in touch with the audiologist via the app and describe their hearing preferences. Through a cloud service, the professional can then send a custom setting as a data package to the app. From there, it is loaded onto the hearing aid and can be tried out immediately. This definitely deserves extra points in our test.
If Audio Service had integrated motion sensors into this hearing aid, individual health tracking could even be possible. However, that is not the case here. These points are lost for the BP7 6 HdO in the rating. It would have been nice to have some lifestyle features, but they are not available in the BP7 6 HdO. Other hearing aids can score with language translators or fall alarms, but here it remains with the usual range of functions.
Rating Extras: 2,5
Conclusion: Audio Service BP7 6 HdO
In the overall results, this test device ranks towards the bottom and is missing some features. We give it a grade of 3.88. For listeners with modest needs, this is acceptable; however, for a very active lifestyle, we recommend a hearing aid with more comprehensive comfort features.
