The Serene 6 63-DRW allows for solid comfort programming by the hearing care professional. A normal noise suppression is definitely present. It is sufficient if you do not live in a very noisy environment.

The Serene 6 63-DRW has 12 adjustable frequency bands, placing it in the midfield. A good acoustician can certainly extract reasonable sound from it. Spatial hearing requires a bit of practice with the Serene 6 63-DRW. However, the adaptive microphone system provides quite good support in social settings.
An exciting topic in hearing acoustics is the use of artificial intelligence, but this Beltone model does not employ it yet.

The control options for hearing aids today are as simple or as complex as anyone would like. The basic functions are of course fully automatic. We wanted to know how users can further access the Serene 6 63-DRW. Usually, there is a button on the hearing aid, and we found one on the Serene 6 as well. It can be configured as a volume control or program selection button and can also be disabled if desired. A discreet way to change the hearing aid is with the remote control. It fits in any pocket. If the person opposite speaks too softly again, one or two clicks are enough to adjust the volume. Additional hearing programs for music listening or driving can also be activated with the remote control.
In our test, we did not find any option for voice control. This feature is not necessarily required, but we would have appreciated it. Another option for controlling the hearing aids is a tapping control. You simply tap your fingers on your ear, which triggers a specific function. However, this option is not available in this Beltone device.
Adjusting loudness or special functions via an app is already widespread today, and the Serene 6 63-DRW follows this trend by providing us with an app. This app offers far more than just hearing aid functions and gives us a glimpse of what hearing aids could be used for in the future - besides good hearing. A streaming option would not be bad for our digital everyday life. The device in question meets our desire and comes with a 2.4 GHz radio module. This allows you to send calls and sounds directly from your smartphone to the hearing aids.

In the Serene 6 63-DRW, we found a fairly solid automatic function that handles the most common hearing situations well. This could be sufficient if the acoustic conditions are not too challenging. We are very pleased with the integrated acclimatization manager. It gradually increases the volume of the hearing aid in tiny steps until our target amplification is eventually reached. We can relax and slowly get used to the new hearing impressions.
The Serene 6 63-DRW relies on battery power instead of rechargeable batteries. Advantage: Very long runtime with a single battery. Unlike rechargeable solutions, you hardly ever have to worry about the power supply. Disadvantage: It generates waste in the form of used batteries. This hearing aid uses a hearing aid battery of size 312.
The data sheet certifies the Beltone device to an IP protection class of 68. This makes it one of the most robust hearing aids on the market. Dust has no chance, and water cannot penetrate the housing unless submerged deeper than 1.5 m. However, do be cautious. Shampoo, for example, alters the surface tension of water. You should also avoid saltwater. In everyday life, though, you can behave completely carefree.

It's nothing more than a distraction technique, and it works remarkably well. The tinnitus fades into the general noise and no longer bothers you. This is a simple yet effective tool, and it earns extra points from us.
A true added value is offered by the remote maintenance service. For a change in hearing aid settings, one no longer has to go to the specialty store, but can directly contact the audiologist via the app. Through a cloud service, the new data package can then be loaded into the hearing aids. This is precisely what we expect from a modern hearing aid.
Tracking health data is a real benefit in modern hearing aids. However, this Beltone model lacks the necessary sensors for this service. It would have been nice to have a few lifestyle features, but those are not available in the Serene 6 63-DRW.
