The Philips HearLink 7010 BTE PP in review
Die Technik dieser Geräte ist nicht mehr ganz aktuell und wurde daher mit einem Abschlag in der Gesamtnote bedacht. Neuere Geräte finden Sie in unserem großen Hörgerätevergleich.
The HearLink 7010 BTE PP from Philips is a traditional hearing aid that is worn behind the ear. The customer receives a small hearing aid from the premium price range, which can compensate for mild to severe hearing loss.
Hearing comfort
Hearing comfort determines whether someone enjoys wearing their hearing aids or not. That’s why we first looked at how the hearing aid deals with background noise. In this model, introduced by Philips, solid comfort programming by the audiologist is possible. Naturally, noise suppression is integrated to reduce tiring background noises. The HearLink 7010 BTE PP reliably recognizes ambient noise, but it is only moderately reduced. This device can detect wind and slightly minimize the sound.
There is also a so-called bang filter. It dampens short and loud noises a bit. This is a sensible feature, but we would have liked a bit more adjustment depth. An adaptive directional microphone helps with the separation of speech and noise, but we miss a true 3D experience. While the HearLink 7010 BTE PP does not have many adjustable equalizer bands, the 14 should be sufficient for a good listening experience.
An exciting topic in audiology is the use of artificial intelligence, but this is not yet applied in this Philips model.

Operation & connectivity
Almost every one of us owns a smartphone, so it's natural to wonder if it can be connected to the new hearing aid. Let's take a look at the connectivity and usability of the HearLink 7010 BTE PP. The simplest way to operate it is always a button directly on the hearing aid. This one has that as well. It can be programmed according to your wishes. Do you want a manual volume control? No problem, the button allows for gradual volume adjustment. Or do you need different special programs for your professional life or hobbies? These can also be activated via the button. If you want to leave everything in automatic mode, you can simply ignore the button or even have it disabled. The small remote control, which is available as an option, is very practical. For us, it's one of the easiest ways to increase or decrease the volume of the hearing aid or switch to another hearing program. No one notices; there's no need to reach for the ear.
We are always pleased when a hearing aid surprises us with a great additional function. For example, we would have liked to see voice control at this point. But there is none in the HearLink 7010 BTE PP at present. Another option for controlling the hearing aids is a tap control. You simply tap your fingers on your ear, which triggers a specific function. However, this possibility is not available in this Philips device.
It is very convenient to adjust the hearing aids via the app. There is also a free app for the HearLink 7010 BTE PP. In our opinion, the range of functions is mediocre, but mostly sufficient. It's best to try it out in demo mode beforehand. The HearLink 7010 comes with a 2.4 GHz antenna and allows us the pleasure of binaural phone calls. This even gives us an advantage over normal hearing individuals. We find that good and gladly give points.

Simplicity & security
Of course, we are also interested in how quickly one can get accustomed to the HearLink 7010 BTE PP and how easy daily use is. With the HearLink 7010 BTE PP, we experienced an effective situational automatic that well supports our hearing. This already ensures that we do not constantly have to adjust something on the hearing aid. We give a big plus point for the automatic acclimatization assistant. It raises the starting volume in very small steps until my hearing goal is reached. This significantly facilitates the adjustment to the new sound.
Zinc-air batteries provide power to the HearLink 7010 BTE PP. Changing the battery could become quite cumbersome for people with limited dexterity or vision. If you have concerns about that, it is better to look for a rechargeable model.
We also take a look at the robustness of the housing and discover in the data sheet the protection class IP 68. This means that dust cannot penetrate at all, and water only becomes a danger after longer submersion. Protection against contact is also included.

Philips HearLink 7010 BTE PP:
Extras
Sometimes hearing aids have additional features that can be quite useful. Let's see how this Philips device performs: First, we look for a special tinnitus program. Tinnitus is a troublesome issue for many people. However, we did not find an option for tinnitus relief in the HearLink 7010 BTE PP.
The remote fitting option is really great. It's very helpful when you just want to make a small change to the hearing aid settings, but don't want to drive to the audiologist. Instead, you can make contact through the app, and the hearing professional sends back a customized data package in the same way.
Some hearing aids can track certain health data. However, this requires special sensors in the hearing aid, which unfortunately we do not have in the HearLink 7010 BTE PP. You should take a closer look at the app of this Philips device. It contains a few extras that significantly expand the functionality of these hearing aids. We really like these additional features!
