The Phonak Audeo Marvel 30 13 T in review
Die Marvel-Serie ist inzwischen in die Jahre gekommen, die Gesamtnote erhält deshalb von uns eine Abwertung. Das ist die Nachfolge-Modellreihe: Phonak Paradise
Phonak introduces its Audeo Marvel 30 13 T, bringing the deep placement of the speaker in the ear canal from a solid mid-range price point to the market. It is a small hearing aid suitable for mild, moderate, and severe hearing needs, and it is worn behind the ear.
Hearing comfort
The comfort features determine how pleasant hearing is perceived in everyday life. In this hearing aid, we find only the bare essentials when it comes to hearing comfort. A classic noise suppression aims to reduce annoying background noise to a bearable level. The Audeo Marvel 30 13 T has a rather simple form of noise suppression that should be sufficient for normal environments. However, users of the Audeo Marvel 30 13 T have to deal with the wind sweeping over the microphones. There is no wind noise reduction here.
Unfortunately, the Audeo Marvel 30 13 T does not include an impulse sound suppressor. We miss a good room acoustics, but the automatic focus can be quite helpful in situations with multiple people. The 8 frequency channels are okay. However, it might be that the programming to individual hearing needs is not quite as precise, and one may have to make some compromises in terms of sound quality.
An exciting topic in audiology is the use of artificial intelligence, but this is not yet applied in this Phonak model.

Operation & connectivity
“Can I adjust something on my hearing aid myself?” “Is there maybe an app?” These and similar questions are becoming increasingly important when selecting a hearing aid, so let's take a look at the controls and connectivity options. Usually, there is a button on the hearing aid, and we found one on the Audeo Marvel 30 as well. It can be configured as a volume control or program selection button and can also be deactivated if desired. We do like the small remote controls, and we found one for this model. This allows you to discreetly make small adjustments to the volume or sound.
In the test, we did not find any option for voice control. This feature is not necessarily required, but we would have appreciated it nonetheless. Some hearing aids can also be controlled with a quick tap of the finger, without having to press a button. However, this feature has not yet been implemented here.
As expected, we find a suitable application for the smartphone. Here we are dealing with a powerful app that trusts its user and provides an extensive toolbox. You don't need headphones anymore, as it has a wireless option and can transmit sounds directly from the smartphone to the ears – if the smartphone is equipped with 2.4 GHz LE technology.
Rating Operation & connectivity: 1,7

Simplicity & security
Now let's take a look at how usage works in everyday life. Is the handling easy? Do I receive a secure device? Typical hearing situations that everyone experiences in their surroundings are reliably recognized and adjusted through automatic controls. However, for more specialized, recurring requirements, one cannot avoid using the manual hearing programs. We are very pleased with the integrated acclimatization manager. It gradually increases the volume of the hearing device in tiny steps until our target amplification is eventually reached. We can relax and gradually get used to the new hearing impressions.
We regret that the Audeo Marvel 30 13 T does not have a battery but operates with hearing aid batteries of size 13. This is not a major problem, but one should remember to carry spare batteries. On the other hand: This hearing aid does not need to be charged daily; it runs for a longer time on one battery.
With an IP 68 certification, the hearing aid can withstand various adverse influences. Dust cannot penetrate, it withstands prolonged submersion in water, and it is also protected against contact.

Phonak Audeo Marvel 30 13 T:
Extras
Lastly, we are interested in whether there are a few goodies on top: Here we noticed the tinnitus option. Those who wish can set up a special tinnitus program. This gently places a soft noise in the ears to distract from the annoying tinnitus. The sounds can be tailored to personal hearing preferences.
A very good additional benefit is provided by the remote maintenance service. Through the app, you can contact your audiologist and describe your hearing problem. They can adjust the settings accordingly and upload them to the hearing aids via the app. For people with little time or a long commute, this is a great service.
If Phonak had integrated motion sensors into this hearing aid, individual health tracking could even take place. However, this is not the case here. These points are a disadvantage for the Audeo Marvel 30 13 T in the ranking. The hearing aid forgoes additional functions such as special assistance systems, a fall alert, or language translators. This is not a major issue as it does not affect the important hearing functions.

Conclusion: Phonak Audeo Marvel 30 13 T
In the overall view, this device ranks in the lower positions and provides us with hardly more than a solid basic equipment. Of course, one can understand speech with the device, just like with all hearing aids, but not much is done to reduce the listening effort. Our overall rating: 4.72. Please always consider this rating in relation to the price range of this hearing aid.
