The Phonak Audeo Paradise 70 13 T in review
Phonak offers the Audeo Paradise 70 13 T, a small hearing aid that is worn behind the ear. It is a hearing aid from the upper price segment and is suitable for almost any hearing need. The speaker position in the ear canal, close to the eardrum, ensures that sound reaches the eardrum without loss.
Hearing comfort
What is most bothersome for hearing aid users: Exactly, background noise. Therefore, let's first take a look at the comfort features included in the test device. The Audeo Paradise 70 13 T allows for solid comfort programming by the hearing care professional. A normal noise cancellation feature is definitely present. It is designed to dampen constant noises like street noise or the hum of an air conditioner. In our test device from Phonak, the noise cancellation can be adjusted to the customer's preference.
Unfortunately, an impulse sound suppressor is not included in the Audeo Paradise 70 13 T. The Audeo Paradise 70 13 T is equipped with an incredibly good wind detection system, so nothing stands in the way of a walk by the sea. One of the most important evaluation criteria for hearing aids is the number of frequency bands, which determine the fine-tuning possibilities. The Audeo Paradise 70 13 T has the best conditions for achieving a precise sound result with its 20 bands. Even in the following years, users can continue to make differentiated adjustments here. Spatial hearing works very reliably. Directional hearing is supported, and the spatial impression is good.
Sometimes we encounter hearing aids that successfully process data with the help of artificial intelligence, but this device has not reached that level yet.

Phonak Audeo Paradise 70 13 T:
Operation & connectivity
The operation options for hearing aids today are as simple or as complex as anyone would like them to be. The basic functions run fully automatically, of course. We wanted to know how users can further access the Audeo Paradise 70 13 T. There is a button directly on the hearing aid. This can be used to change the volume or activate additional listening programs. It can be programmed according to customer preferences. The use is, of course, optional. Those who prefer not to touch their ear to adjust the volume will appreciate the optional remote control. This allows for convenient and discreet adjustments to the hearing aid.
In our test, we found no option for voice control. This feature is not necessarily required but would have pleased us nonetheless. Some hearing aids can also be controlled with a quick tap of the finger, without needing to press a button. However, this feature has not yet been implemented here.
Adjusting volume or special functions via an app is already widespread today, and the Audeo Paradise 70 13 T follows this trend by providing us with an app. This app offers far more than just hearing aid functions and gives us a glimpse of what hearing aids could be used for in the future—beyond just good hearing. Headphones are no longer needed here, as it has a wireless option and can transmit sounds directly to the ears from a smartphone—provided the smartphone is equipped with 2.4 GHz LE technology.

Simplicity & security
User-friendliness is the next aspect we want to address. It's about everyday practicality and the question of how easy and safe it is to live with the hearing aid. Typical hearing situations that everyone encounters in their environment are reliably detected and adjusted through automatic settings. However, for more specific, recurring needs, one cannot avoid using the manual hearing programs. We give a big plus point for the automatic acclimatization assistant. It raises the starting volume in very small steps until my hearing goal is reached. This greatly facilitates the adjustment to the new sound.
We regret that the Audeo Paradise 70 13 T does not have a rechargeable battery but is powered by hearing aid batteries size 13. This is not particularly problematic, but one should remember to carry spare batteries. On the other hand, this hearing aid does not need to be charged daily; it runs for a longer time on a single battery.
We also take a look at the robustness of the housing and find the protection class IP 68 in the data sheet. This means that dust cannot penetrate at all, and water only becomes dangerous after prolonged submersion. Touch protection is also included.
Rating Simplicity & security: 2,3
Extras
Sometimes there are additional functions in hearing aids that can be quite useful. Let's see how it is with this Phonak device: Phonak has integrated a noise generator that plays some soothing sounds for those suffering from tinnitus. This can distract from the tinnitus and provide a bit more relaxation.
The possibility for remote adjustment is something we really like. It is very helpful whenever you only want to change a small detail in the hearing aid setting but don't want to drive to the audiologist. Instead, you make contact via the app, and the hearing professional sends back an adjusted data package in the same way.
If Phonak had integrated motion sensors into this hearing aid, individual health tracking could even be possible. However, this is not the case here. These points lead to a loss of value for the Audeo Paradise 70 13 T. Other hearing aids already offer a few extended options like a fall alarm or reminder functions. We do not find that here, and it is not that dramatic, because the normal hearing functions are still the most important.
