The ReSound Nexia 4 60S-DRWC in review
Diese Technik wurde im Februar 2025 von den ReSound Vivia abgelöst ist daher nicht mehr ganz aktuell . Aus diesem Grund nehmen eine Abwertung in der Gesamtnote vor.
Here we take a look at a hearing aid at a reasonable price from the upper mid-range, designed to be worn behind the ear. It is called Nexia 4 60S-DRWC and comes from the manufacturer ReSound. It can be used by anyone with mild to severe hearing loss who desires a small mini hearing aid. Thanks to the cleverly chosen placement of the speaker in the ear canal, it has very good sound qualities.
Hearing comfort
What is most annoying for hearing aid users: Exactly, the background noise. That's why we first look at which comfort features the test device includes. With the Nexia 4 60S-DRWC, solid comfort programming by the hearing care professional is possible. A normal noise suppression is definitely present. It is supposed to dampen constant noises like street noise or the sound of the air conditioning. In our test device from ReSound, there is a reasonably well-functioning noise reduction.
Quick, sharp sounds are indeed detected here, but only moderately reduced. Wind noise can sometimes become a problem outside. Therefore, a moderate wind noise management is integrated here. A few more frequency channels would be desirable, but the existing 12 channels are already quite effective. The adjustable microphones help in recognizing certain directions and can also assist in noise cancellation, but the spatial sound was not very natural.
Strategies based on artificial intelligence are not yet implemented in this hearing aid from ReSound.
Rating Hearing comfort: 2,9
Operation & connectivity
Every person has their own specific hearing needs. It is advantageous if one can customize their hearing aids beyond the automatic functions. In the test, we discovered the following access options: First, we found a button directly on the hearing aid. This is very useful, as it is the simplest and quickest way to make a change. The volume can be adjusted through it, and different hearing programs can also be activated. If one prefers not to make adjustments directly on the ear, the button can certainly be deactivated. We do like the small remote controls, and we found one for this model. This allows for discreet small adjustments to the volume or sound.
In the test, we did not find any option for voice control. This feature is not necessarily required, but we would have appreciated it. We are particularly excited about the Tap control. A quick tap with the fingers on the ear, and the hearing aid switches to another mode. Here, ReSound is a significant step ahead with its model. In our opinion, the Tap control is not only modern but also extremely convenient.
The operation of the Nexia 4 60S-DRWC is relatively simple via the corresponding app. It comes with a lot of additional functions and has impressed us quite a bit. We particularly enjoyed using the equalizer in the test. As someone with normal hearing, one might feel a bit envious since such features are not yet found in wireless headphones. One of the best features of the hearing aid is the direct streaming function. This turns the hearing aid into a true wireless headphone, receiving phone calls and other sounds directly in the ear. A compatible smartphone that contains 2.4 GHz technology is required. The biggest advantage is that you can hear phone calls not just in one ear, but in both. Additionally, the sound can be tailored to personal needs.

Simplicity & security
Another point on our checklist is handling. Is everything easy and reliable? What does the hearing aid offer to ensure safe application in everyday life? When it comes to adjusting to changing hearing situations, we have to limit ourselves to the manual options with the Nexia 4 60S-DRWC. An automatic situation recognition would definitely make life easier, but it is not available here. Very important for us in terms of simplicity is the support during the acclimatization process. Especially after having heard poorly for years, it can sometimes be difficult to perceive everything at a natural volume. In our test device, there is an acclimatization manager that helps us with very small volume adjustments throughout the familiarization phase. After a few weeks or months, we then reach the calculated amplification level.
The Nexia 4 60S-DRWC is rechargeable and no longer requires hearing aid batteries. This is environmentally friendly, as there are no old batteries to dispose of. At the same time, it is also extremely convenient, as no spare batteries need to be carried. The hearing aids simply go into the charging station at night and are ready for use the next morning.
The hearing aid has been classified in IP protection class 68. This guarantees comprehensive protection against dust ingress. Water also cannot easily harm the hearing aid. This makes it perfectly equipped for outdoor activities where it can get wet and dirty. However, you should not necessarily bathe or swim with the hearing aids. Bath additives or the salt content in seawater alter the composition and could ultimately cause damage.

ReSound Nexia 4 60S-DRWC:
Extras
Sometimes it's the little things that make a hearing aid perfect. That's why we take a quick look at the extras that might be included: ReSound has integrated a noise generator that plays some soothing sounds for those suffering from tinnitus. This can help distract from the tinnitus and provide a bit more relaxation.
The option for remote adjustment is really great. This is very helpful whenever you want to make just a small change to the hearing aid settings but don't want to drive to the hearing care professional. Instead, you can get in touch via the app, and the hearing expert sends back a tailored data package the same way.
Tracking health data is a real added value in modern hearing aids. However, this ReSound model lacks the sensors for this service. The functionality of the Nexia 4 60S-DRWC is limited to regular hearing, which is absolutely fine. Additional features like fall alarms or Siri connections have their own considerable value, but they are not relevant for balanced hearing.

With a final grade of 2.68, this model holds its own in the middle range. It has quite a decent level of comfort equipment on board, which is sufficient for typical everyday moments and creates a satisfying listening experience.
