Normal environmental sounds like street noise, vacuum cleaner noise, or noise from a fan should be dampened by classic noise suppression. However, for more specific, recurring requirements, the use of manual hearing programs becomes necessary. A key aspect of simplicity is the support during the acclimatization process. Especially after having heard poorly for years, it can sometimes be difficult to perceive everything at a natural volume. In our test device, there is an acclimatization manager that helps us with very small volume adjustments throughout the adaptation phase. After a few weeks or months, we have then reached the calculated amplification level.
We regret that the Nexia 5 62-DRW does not have a rechargeable battery, but operates with size 13 hearing aid batteries. This is not a major issue, but one should remember to carry spare batteries. On the other hand, this hearing aid does not need to be charged daily; it can run for a longer time on a single battery.
With an IP 68 certification, the hearing aid can withstand various adverse influences. Dust cannot penetrate, it can withstand prolonged submersion in water, and it is also protected against touch.

The finale belongs to the extras, that is, small additional features that could earn the hearing aid a few extra points: We particularly liked the optional tinnitus program. There are quite a few people who are occasionally or frequently troubled by a ringing or buzzing in their ear. The tinnitus program in the Nexia 5 62-DRW is essentially just a sound generator. It aims to produce broad-spectrum noises or sounds that gently and pleasantly stimulate all areas of hearing. The tinnitus fades into the background and is no longer perceived as disturbing.
We find the remote maintenance service exciting, which can be utilized. If one has no opportunity to visit the hearing care professional, they can instead contact them via the app, briefly describe their hearing problem, and then receive a data package with a new hearing aid configuration. If it sounds good, they load it into their hearing aids.
Some hearing aids can track certain health data. However, this requires special sensors in the hearing aid, which we unfortunately do not have in the Nexia 5 62-DRW. It would have been nice to have a few lifestyle features, but those are not available in the Nexia 5 62-DRW.
