This test report introduces you to the Nexia 7 60S-DRWC from the manufacturer ReSound. Brief model classification: The Nexia 7 60S-DRWC is a small, nearly invisible hearing aid that is worn behind the ear. It can compensate for moderate, more severe, and fluctuating hearing losses and is a hearing aid from the high-end category. The comfortable position of the speaker in the ear canal provides good sound quality.
Hearing comfort
Our first test category is listening comfort. We could also say sound comfort, because that is mainly what it’s about. Does the hearing aid sound very technical or beautifully natural? Are too many background noises amplified, or do they stay well in the background? In this device from ReSound, the manufacturer provides the customer with comprehensive sound management. The noise suppression is a very traditional feature; it filters out all ambient sounds that are chaotic and uniform, reducing their loudness. The Nexia 7 60S-DRWC includes significant and well-functioning noise reduction.
A decent wind management system helps suppress the small turbulence at the hearing aid microphones. For all outdoor enthusiasts, this feature is indispensable. Short and intense sounds are often annoying, but in this model, there is an adjustable impulse sound control. As a result, sounds like cutlery clattering, cabinet doors slamming, or newspaper rustling are no longer perceived as unpleasant. While the Nexia 7 60S-DRWC doesn’t have a lot of adjustable equalizer bands, the 14 should suffice for a good listening experience. Spatial hearing works very reliably. Directional hearing is supported, and the spatial impression is good.
Strategies based on artificial intelligence are not yet implemented in this hearing aid from ReSound.
Rating Hearing comfort: 2,1
Operation & connectivity
Since you probably don't have your audiologist by your side all the time, it's quite helpful to be able to make changes to the hearing aid yourself. There are various control options, and we’ll take a look at what the Nexia 7 60S-DRWC has to offer. First, we discovered a button directly on the hearing aid. This is very practical, as it is the simplest and quickest way to make a change. The volume can be adjusted with it, and different hearing programs can also be activated. If you prefer not to make any adjustments directly at the ear, you can of course also deactivate the button. A discreet way to change the hearing aid is the remote control. It fits in any pocket. If the person you're talking to speaks too quietly again, a click or two is enough to adjust the volume. Additional hearing programs for listening to music or for driving can also be activated with the remote control.
We always enjoy being surprised by a hearing aid with a great extra feature. For example, we would have liked to see voice control at this point. However, it is currently not available in the Nexia 7 60S-DRWC. A finger tap control requires that sensors are implemented in the hearing aid. This is actually the case here. You can simply tap on the ear shell with a few fingers or the flat of your hand to trigger a command. This could be, for example, the activation of a TV adapter or answering a phone call. Your audiologist will configure the exact settings with you.
We always have our smartphone with us, and with the Nexia 7 60S-DRWC, it's worth it because it can be individualized through an app. The app is also really fun and has a range of features that you wouldn’t expect in a hearing aid app. If you enjoy playing, this is the right place for you. You no longer need headphones here, as it has a wireless option and can transmit sounds from the smartphone directly to your ears – as long as the smartphone is equipped with 2.4 GHz LE technology.

Simplicity & security
In the next step, we want to address the topic of user-friendliness. Is the Nexia 7 60S-DRWC easy to handle? Is it weather-resistant? Do you have to do a lot to get used to it? Here are our answers: The automatic situation recognition has a high value in our test. The better it works, the easier it is for our hearing to get through the day. The Nexia 7 60S-DRWC performs confidently here and adapts to many situations. Some people find it hard to adjust, but this hearing aid makes it easy for us to cope with the new volume. There is a familiarization manager that gradually leads us to the required target amplification. The duration can be a few weeks or even several months; it is individually adjustable. The individual steps are so small that you don’t even notice that there has just been an increase in volume.
A charger is included with the Nexia 7 60S-DRWC, as it has built-in batteries. This is modern, user-friendly, and what we also expect from a modern hearing aid.
With IP 68 certification, the hearing aid can withstand various adverse conditions. Dust cannot penetrate, it stands up to prolonged immersion in water, and it is also protected against contact.

ReSound Nexia 7 60S-DRWC:
Extras
The finale is dedicated to the extras, which are small additional features that could earn the hearing aid some extra points: We particularly liked the optional tinnitus program. There are relatively many people who occasionally or frequently suffer from a ringing or buzzing in their ears. The tinnitus program in the Nexia 7 60S-DRWC is basically just a sound generator. It aims to produce broadband noises or sounds that gently and pleasantly stimulate all areas of hearing. The tinnitus becomes less noticeable and is no longer perceived as disturbing.
We are really pleased with the remote adjustment feature. It is especially helpful when you just want to change something minor in the hearing aid setting but do not want to make an extra trip to the audiologist. Instead, you can make contact through the app, and the hearing professional sends back a customized data package in the same way.
Tracking health data is a real added value in modern hearing aids. However, this ReSound model lacks the sensors for this service. The functionality in the Nexia 7 60S-DRWC is limited to regular hearing, which is perfectly fine. Additional features like fall alert or Siri connections provide some added value, but they are not relevant for good sound balance.
