The Nexia 9 88 DWC is a discreet hearing aid from the premium category. We achieve clean sound transmission through the hearing aid in the traditional sense.

That’s why we take a quick look at the operation options of the Nexia 9 88 DWC. The simplest operation option is always a button directly on the hearing aid. This one has it too. It can be programmed according to your preferences. Do you want manual volume control? No problem, the button allows for step-wise adjustment of the volume. Or do you need different special programs for your professional life or hobbies? These can also be activated via the button. Anyone who wants to keep everything in automatic mode can simply ignore the button or even have it deactivated. If desired, there is a remote control for the hearing aid. With it, the volume can be easily adjusted. The handling is not only child’s play, but no one will notice that you are just adjusting your hearing aids.

Problems when talking on the smartphone are a thing of the past with this device. Phone calls, music, and other sounds are transmitted completely wirelessly to the hearing aids. Headphones become unnecessary. We tested the wireless transmission during long phone calls and when listening to music while exercising. Everything worked simply and smoothly. Only a compatible smartphone with 2.4 GHz wireless technology is required.

Now let's briefly talk about everyday usability. Is the Nexia 9 88 DWC user-friendly and easy to handle? Does it have water protection? Here are our findings: With top-notch situation recognition, the Nexia 9 88 DWC has completely convinced us. The hearing aid adapts seamlessly to the acoustic environment and requires almost no intervention from us. Listening feels completely normal. We are very pleased with the integrated acclimatization manager. It gradually increases the hearing aid's volume in tiny increments until our target amplification is eventually reached. We can relax and slowly get used to the new hearing impressions.

The Nexia 9 88 DWC is equipped with a rechargeable battery. We find this very good, as rechargeable hearing aids are certainly up to date. You don't have to have batteries lying around everywhere, and you don't have to change the battery in the middle of a concert. The hearing aid is simply placed in the charging station overnight and has enough energy for the following day.

The data sheet certifies the ReSound device with an IP protection class of 68. This makes it one of the most durable hearing aids on the market. Dust doesn’t stand a chance, and water does not penetrate the casing unless it submerges more than 1.5 m deep. Nonetheless, be careful. Shampoo, for example, alters the surface tension of water. You should also avoid saltwater. However, in everyday life, you can behave completely carefree.

Sometimes hearing aids have additional features that can be quite useful. Let's see how this ReSound device measures up: Notable is the tinnitus program. Those plagued by annoying ear noises will benefit from it. Pleasant, soft sounds are set to gently surround the tinnitus. In the end, the tinnitus blends into the background noise and doesn't become bothersome anymore.

A clever tool is the integrated remote servicing feature. Almost everyone has a smartphone, and time is a scarce resource. Therefore, such a remote service is absolutely appropriate. Anyone needing a new programming for their hearing aids can easily contact the audiologist via the app and describe their hearing preferences. Through a cloud service, the professional can then send a personalized setting as a data package to the app. From there, it is loaded onto the hearing aid and can be tried out immediately. This definitely deserves extra points in our test.

Some hearing aids can track certain health data. However, this requires specific sensors in the hearing aid, which unfortunately, we do not have in the Nexia 9 88 DWC. The hearing aid forgoes additional features such as special assistance systems, a fall alarm, or language translators. That's not a big deal, as it doesn't affect the important hearing functions.
