ReSound offers the Quattro NEO 7 62-DRW, a discreet hearing aid that is worn behind the ear. It is a hearing aid from the budget segment and is suitable for both mild and more significant hearing needs. The direct positioning of the speaker in the ear canal ensures that sound reaches the eardrum without losses.
Hearing comfort
Good speech understanding is a matter of course in modern hearing aids. Equally important is the hearing comfort. Only when the ratio of speech transmission to the level of background noise is right will hearing be perceived as pleasant. That’s why we take a look at the comfort features: The Quattro NEO 7 62-DRW allows for solid comfort programming by the hearing care professional. Normal background noises like street noise, vacuum cleaner sounds, or fan noise should be dampened by a classic noise suppression system. This ReSound hearing aid does this quite well. In a typical hearing environment, it certainly manages fine.
Short, loud sounds are quickly recognized and effectively reduced in the Quattro NEO 7 62-DRW, thanks to an adjustable impulse sound suppressor. For windy situations outdoors, ReSound has included wind noise reduction. This is certainly useful and is simply part of a contemporary comfort feature. 3D hearing is very important for a natural impression. The device leaves nothing to be desired in this respect and impresses us in this regard. The Quattro NEO 7 62-DRW has 14 adjustable frequency bands and thus operates in the mid-range. A good acoustician can certainly extract a reasonable sound from it.
An exciting topic in hearing acoustics is the use of artificial intelligence, but this is not yet applied in this ReSound model.

The operating options for hearing aids today are as simple or as complex as one wishes. The basic functions, of course, run fully automatically. We wanted to know how users can access the Quattro NEO 7 62-DRW beyond that. The simplest way to operate it is always a button directly on the hearing aid. This one has it as well. It can be programmed according to your preferences. Do you want a manual volume control? No problem, the button allows for step-by-step volume adjustments. Or do you need different special programs for your professional daily life or hobbies? These can also be activated via the button. Anyone who prefers to keep everything in automatic mode can simply ignore the button or even have it deactivated. The small remote control, which is available as an option, is very practical. For us, it's one of the most convenient ways to adjust the hearing aid louder or quieter or switch to another hearing program. No one notices anything; reaching for the ear is not necessary.
We don't find the modern form of operation via voice command in the Quattro NEO 7 62-DRW yet. If there are sensors in the hearing aid, a tap control might be conceivable, which would trigger a specific function by tapping the ear with your fingers. However, this option is not available in the Quattro NEO 7 62-DRW.
Smartphone apps are now frequently offered to improve the operability of hearing aids. The app from ReSound is, in our assessment, one of the better ones, as it offers a good set of adjustment options. We really enjoyed the direct, wireless streaming. This means that calls from the smartphone are transmitted to the hearing aids without any additional accessories. This turns the hearing aid into the perfect hands-free device or wireless headphones. Listening to music or watching and hearing videos is incredibly comfortable.

Let's continue with the test: How is the user-friendliness? Is it easy or complicated to handle the hearing aid? The automatic situational recognition has a high value in our test. The better it functions, the easier it is for our hearing to get through the day. The Quattro NEO 7 62-DRW works confidently here and adapts to many situations. We give a big plus point for the automatic acclimatization assistant. It raises the starting volume in very small steps until my hearing goal is achieved. This significantly eases the adjustment to the new sound.
Quattro NEO 7 62-DRW relies on battery power instead of rechargeable batteries. Advantage: Very long runtime with one battery. Unlike rechargeable solutions, one rarely has to deal with the power supply. Disadvantage: There is waste in the form of used batteries. This hearing aid uses a hearing aid battery of size 13.
With IP 68 certification, the hearing aid can withstand various adverse influences. Dust cannot penetrate, it can withstand prolonged submersion in water, and it is also protected against contact.

Extras
Before we come to the end, let's take a look at the extras: We were really impressed by the optional tinnitus program. There are quite a few people who are occasionally or frequently troubled by a ringing or hissing in their ears. The tinnitus program in the Quattro NEO 7 62-DRW is basically just a sound generator. It aims to create broad-spectrum sounds or noises that gently and pleasantly stimulate all hearing areas. The tinnitus is masked and is no longer perceived as disturbing.
We find the remote maintenance service interesting that can be utilized. If there is no opportunity to visit the hearing specialist, one can instead contact him via the app, briefly describe their hearing problem, and then receive a data package with a new hearing aid configuration. If it sounds good, they can upload it to their hearing aids.
If ReSound had integrated motion sensors into this hearing aid, it could even enable individual health tracking. However, that is not the case here. These points are lost in the evaluation of the Quattro NEO 7 62-DRW. This ReSound hearing aid does not have any additional lifestyle options on board. Elsewhere, there are voice assistants or reminder functions, but for good hearing, that is not necessary. It would have just made the product a bit cooler.
