The ReSound Vivia 7 60S-DRWC in review
Here we take a look at a hearing aid from the high-end category that is worn behind the ear. It is called Vivia 7 60S-DRWC and comes from the manufacturer ReSound. It can be used by anyone with almost any hearing needs who wants a small, barely visible hearing aid. By placing the speaker directly in the ear canal, it has very good sound characteristics.
With the ReSound Vivia, the technical features of the predecessor models are slipping into new areas.
By the way: You might also be interested in a look at the sister models. In the premium variant "9" with the design "60S" (here's a direct link to the test report), a second AI chip is at work. In the video, we explain how the new AI-supported noise suppression works and what advantages it offers:
Hearing comfort
In the first chapter, we assess the quality of sound management. We call this listening comfort, as these features determine how pleasant the hearing aid wearer perceives the sound of their devices. However, noises can be of various kinds and require very different tools for suppression. The manufacturer provides the customer with comprehensive sound management in the Vivia 7 60S-DRWC. First, we look at noise suppression, which is designed to tame everyday sounds like the noise of ventilation or refrigerators. In this ReSound model, there is one of the most powerful noise suppression systems on the market. The suppression of short, loud sound events has convinced us here; it is indeed quite effective. Wind is another issue that can limit listening comfort outdoors. But the Vivia 7 60S-DRWC handles this confidently and activates wind noise suppression in such situations. By the way, this can be adjusted in stages. A solid basis for programming the Vivia 7 60S-DRWC is provided by the 14 equalizer bands. As sound junkies, we would prefer a few more, but for the typical situations we encounter in our daily lives, a reasonable sound profile can be created from these. Normal hearers usually do not have to think about spatial hearing. With this hearing aid, we don't have to either. A sophisticated system of directional microphones and bilateral wireless networking generates a 3D effect that closely resembles natural hearing. The signal processing is based, among other things, on typical frequency patterns of speech and noise, but artificial intelligence is not yet employed here.
The hearing aids intelligently adapt to the environment, ensuring that speech remains clearly understandable while environmental sounds are still perceived. This keeps hearing relaxed and natural, as the brain can highlight the relevant sounds itself. In particularly difficult listening conditions, a focus program can be activated that directs the microphones specifically forward. With the narrower focus angle compared to the more affordable device variant, speech from an individual person is captured even more precisely, further enhancing understanding.

Operation & connectivity
Although hearing aids are now very intelligent, they still cannot read the thoughts of the wearer. Therefore, the automation sometimes reaches its limits. Individual adjustment options can be really useful, which is why we will briefly look at the options for the Vivia 7 60S-DRWC: A very quick way to adjust the volume is the small button on the device. It is easy to feel, and you can increase or decrease the volume in several steps. Additional programs for specific listening situations can also be activated with it. If someone prefers not to use the button, they can simply have it deactivated. Those who are not keen on touching their ear to adjust the volume will appreciate the optional remote control. This allows for convenient and discreet adjustments to the hearing aid.
In the test, we did not find any voice control options. This feature is not necessarily needed, but we would have been pleased to have it. We were quite impressed with the tap control during the test. Just tap your ear briefly, and your ReSound hearing aid knows it should do something. We were already familiar with this sensor-controlled technology from wireless headphones, and it’s great that there is now something similar in hearing aids.
Hearing aid apps are becoming increasingly popular. With the Vivia 7 60S-DRWC, we are in luck: there is a suitable app. This app completely impressed us. Not only are there numerous options to customize the hearing aids to your personal hearing preferences, but the app also offers a wealth of lifestyle features. We really enjoyed the direct, wireless streaming. This means that calls from the smartphone can be transmitted to the hearing aids without any additional accessories. This turns the hearing aid into the perfect hands-free system or wireless headphones. Listening to music or watching and hearing videos is incredibly comfortable as well.
The ReSound Smart 3D App expands its features with the new Auracast Assistant. This free addition turns your smartphone into a universal receiver, regardless of the built-in technology. With a simple tap on the icon on the home screen, you get an overview of all available audio sources and can connect instantly – for an optimal sound experience.
Rating Operation & connectivity: 1,1

ReSound Vivia 7 60S-DRWC: With the elegant TV Streamer+, you can enjoy the TV sound directly in your hearing aids – clear, understandable, and without distractions from background noise. The compact device can be discreetly placed behind the television. Personal settings can be made via the ReSound Smart 3D app or a public Auracast stream can be activated.

Simplicity & security
Another point on our checklist is handling. Does everything work simply and reliably? What does the hearing aid offer to ensure safe use in everyday life? With its exceptionally well-functioning situational automatic, the Vivia 7 60S-DRWC excels in everyday performance. The finely tuned detection of the acoustic environment allows us to effortlessly move through different hearing situations without having to manually readjust. This is exactly what we expect from a hearing aid. The adjustment to the new hearing sensation is supported by an automatic acclimatization manager. It gradually adjusts the amplification until my hearing loss is completely compensated. I don't have to do anything except wear my hearing aids regularly.
The Vivia 7 60S-DRWC is rechargeable and no longer requires batteries. This is not only environmentally friendly but also very convenient to handle, freeing me from the burden of constantly thinking about battery supplies.
We had a carefree everyday experience in our test thanks to the IP-68 certification. This indicates that the hearing aid is particularly well protected against dust and water. We marched through the rain and then took out the hearing aids with wet hands - no problem at all. However, the water resistance really only applies to fresh, natural water and not to soapy bathwater or saltwater.
With two practical battery chargers, ReSound offers flexible charging solutions for hearing aids. The premium charging cradle allows for up to three charges without a socket thanks to the integrated power bank – ideal for on the go. The desktop charger ensures fast and safe charging at home. This way, the hearing aids are always ready for use.
Rating Simplicity & security: 1,0

ReSound Vivia 7 60S-DRWC: Whether traveling or in everyday life – the premium charging case offers maximum flexibility. Thanks to the integrated power bank, the RIC hearing aids can be charged up to three times without needing a power outlet. LED indicators reliably display the charge level, while the magnetic lid securely stores the hearing aids. A practical and elegant solution for unrestricted hearing comfort on the go.
Extras
Before we come to the conclusion, let's take a look at the extras: Are you among the tinnitus sufferers? Then you might use the optional tinnitus program in the Vivia 7 60S-DRWC. Soft, gentle sounds are tuned to your hearing and engage all areas of the inner ear. It is nothing more than a distraction maneuver, and it works surprisingly well. The tinnitus disappears in the general noise and is no longer annoying. This is a simple but effective tool and earns extra points from us.
A clever tool is the integrated remote maintenance service. Nearly everyone has a smartphone, and time is a scarce resource. Therefore, such a remote maintenance service is absolutely appropriate. If someone needs a new programming for their hearing aids, they can easily contact the audiologist via the app and describe their hearing preferences. Through a cloud service, the professional can then send a custom setting as a data package to the app. From there, it is loaded onto the hearing aid and can be tested immediately. This definitely deserves extra points in our test.
If ReSound had integrated motion sensors into this hearing aid, individual health tracking could even be possible. However, this is not the case here. These points are lost for the Vivia 7 60S-DRWC in the ranking. This ReSound hearing aid does not have any additional lifestyle options on board. Elsewhere, there are voice assistants or reminder functions, but you don't need that for good hearing. It would have just made the product a bit cooler.
With the new interchangeable microphone filters from ReSound, your hearing aids maintain clear and uninterrupted sound quality at all times. The filters protect against dust and moisture, thereby extending their lifespan. You can easily and quickly change them yourself – without any additional effort or visit to a specialist retailer. This way, you always enjoy the best hearing.
