Signia presents the Active Pro ITC, a model from the upper mid-range. It can compensate for moderate hearing losses. It is a discreet hearing aid that provides good sound quality through the slightly visible but very comfortable wearing area directly in the ear. It is worn in the ear.
Signia has made a foray into a new type of form factor with the Active series. While they are considered in-the-ear hearing aids just like conventional hearing aids, they differ significantly from traditional hearing aids in this category because the technology is very visible and, similar to Bluetooth headphones, sits on the outer ear.
Hearing comfort
The listening comfort determines whether someone enjoys wearing their hearing aids or not. That's why we first looked at how the hearing aid handles background noise. For this model, which Signia presents, the manufacturer provides the customer with comprehensive noise management. Of course, noise suppression is integrated to reduce tiring background noises. In the Active Pro ITC, the noise suppression can be adjusted to the customer's preference. A fairly solid wind management system is available in the Active Pro ITC and should suffice for everyday use.
Impulse sounds occur very frequently in daily life. There's the dishwasher that needs to be unloaded, or the keys being placed on the table. The Active Pro ITC features strong impulse sound management that makes these sounds bearable. Spatial hearing works very reliably. Directional hearing is supported, and the spatial impression is good. For a precise and realistic listening experience, the number of adjustable frequency bands is of great importance. With 20, this Signia device is a true top model and allows for nuanced fine-tuning over several years.
An additional tool to enhance listening comfort can be found in the Signia app. Here, artificial intelligence utilizes the preferences of thousands of other hearing aid users to generate a tailored setting for a specific listening situation.

Operation & connectivity
Most hearing aids automatically adapt to their environment. However, it is sometimes very practical to be able to make adjustments yourself. After all, the hearing aid doesn't know how you are feeling at the moment. We looked into what control options the Active Pro ITC has to offer: We couldn't find a button, which is a pity. Let's see what else we can find. A very practical feature is the small remote control, which is available as an option. For us, this is one of the most comfortable ways to adjust the hearing aid volume or switch to another hearing program. No one notices, and reaching for the ear is not necessary.
The modern method of control via voice command is not yet found in the Active Pro ITC. Another option to control the hearing aids is a tap control. This involves simply tapping your fingers on the ear, which triggers a specific function. However, this feature is not available in this Signia device.
The app is definitely very useful. Anyone with a smartphone should download it. Even though the app is not one of our favorites, it is still a valuable addition to the Active Pro ITC. One of the best features of the hearing aid is the direct streaming function. This turns the hearing aid into a TrueWireless headphone and allows you to receive calls and other sounds directly in your ear. A compatible smartphone that supports 2.4 GHz technology is required. The biggest advantage is that you can hear calls in both ears, not just one. Additionally, the sound can be tailored to personal preferences.

Now let's take a look at how the usage plays out in everyday life. Is the handling easy? Do I get a safe device? In the Active Pro ITC, we experienced an effective situational automation that supports our hearing well. This ensures that we don't constantly need to adjust the hearing aid. Some people find it difficult to get used to it, but this hearing aid makes it easy for us to cope with the new volume. There is a familiarization manager that gradually guides us to the required target amplification. The duration can range from a few weeks to several months, and it can be individually adjusted. The individual steps are so small that one hardly notices that there has been an increase in volume.
The Active Pro ITC is rechargeable and no longer requires hearing aid batteries. This is environmentally friendly, as there are no old batteries to dispose of. At the same time, it is also extremely convenient, as no spare batteries need to be carried. The hearing aids simply go into the charging station in the evening and are ready for use the next morning.
We had a carefree everyday life in our test due to the IP-68 certification. This indicates that the hearing aid is particularly well protected against dust and water. We marched through the rain and then took out the hearing aids with wet hands - all no problem. However, the water resistance really only applies to fresh, natural water and not to foamy bath water or saltwater.
The charging station can be charged via Qi surfaces. It also features a power bank, making it modern and suitable for everyday use.

Finally, we want to know if the hearing aid perhaps offers any specials: Are you one of the tinnitus sufferers? Then you could use the optional tinnitus program in the Active Pro ITC. Soft, gentle sounds are tailored to your hearing and engage all areas of the inner ear. It’s nothing more than a distraction technique, and it works surprisingly well. The tinnitus fades into the general noise and no longer bothers you. It’s a simple but effective tool and earns extra points from us.
Signia keeps up with the times and provides a forward-looking feature with the remote adjustment service. Busy people with little time can contact their audiologist online and have their hearing aids reprogrammed. Hearing aid users who have a longer commute to the specialist store also benefit from this special service.
If Signia had integrated motion sensors into this hearing aid, individual health tracking could even take place. However, this is not the case here. These points are lost for the Active Pro ITC in the rating. The hearing aid forgoes additional features like special assistance systems, a fall alert, or language translators. This is not a big issue, as it does not affect the important hearing functions.
