The Signia Pure 1 AX 312 in review
Diese Technik ist bereits etwas veraltet und erhält daher einen Abzug in der Gesamtbewertung. Neuer und besser ist der aktuelle Signia IX-Chip.
Are you curious about this hearing aid from Signia? Let's see what we've discovered. The Pure 1 AX 312 has been designed for both mild and more severe hearing needs and is worn behind the ear. It is a small hearing aid at a lower price level.
Thanks to the comfortable position of the speaker in the ear canal, we have good, clear sound.
Hearing comfort
Good speech understanding is a given in modern hearing aids. Almost equally important is hearing comfort. Only when the ratio of speech transmission to the level of background noise is right will hearing be perceived as pleasant. That’s why we take a look at the comfort features: In the Pure 1 AX 312, we find only the bare essentials regarding hearing comfort. Normal environmental noises, such as street noise, vacuum cleaner sounds, or fan noise, are to be suppressed by classic noise cancellation. This Signia hearing device includes only a very slight noise reduction.
Points are deducted for the lack of impulse sound suppression. Normally, this dampens short, clattering sounds. But those who choose this hearing aid should not let that bother them. We searched in vain for wind management; there is no wind noise reduction here. This device lacks natural spatial hearing, which presents some difficulties in daily life. We can no longer reliably identify directions. Anyone with impaired vision should opt for a different hearing aid. The number of equalizer bands is very important for adapting to hearing needs. The 312 only provides 8 and does not allow for as many fine-tuning options in the long term.
Sometimes, the audiologist is not nearby when a hearing problem arises. The Pure 1 AX 312 assists you with its app, which features a special assistant that makes precise adjustments to your hearing moment based on artificial intelligence.
Rating Hearing comfort: 4,8
Operation & connectivity
“Can I make adjustments to my hearing aid myself?” “Is there possibly an app?” These and similar questions are becoming increasingly important when selecting a hearing aid, so let's take a look at the control and connectivity options. Usually, there is a button on the hearing aid, and we found one on the Pure 1 AX. It can be configured as a volume control or program selection button and can also be disabled if desired. A remote control for the hearing aid is available upon request. This allows for effortless volume adjustment. The handling is not only child’s play, but no one will notice that you are adjusting your hearing aids.
We are always pleased when a hearing aid surprises us with a great additional feature. For instance, we would have liked to see voice control at this point. However, that is not currently available in the Pure 1 AX 312. Some hearing aids can also be controlled with a quick tap of the finger, without needing to press a button. Unfortunately, this feature has not yet been implemented here.
In the App Store, we also find a suitable application from Signia. The app for the Pure 1 AX 312 is not one of our highlights, but it has everything needed for the hearing systems. Problems with phone calls on a smartphone are a thing of the past with this device. Phone calls, music, and other sounds are completely transmitted wirelessly to the hearing aids. Headphones become unnecessary. We tested the wireless transmission during longer phone calls as well as for listening to music while exercising. Everything worked smoothly and effortlessly. Only a compatible smartphone with 2.4 GHz wireless technology is required.
Rating Operation & connectivity: 2,0

Simplicity & security
An important factor for the acceptance of a hearing aid is its everyday usability. This includes, for example, automated functions as well as robustness and user-friendliness. We do not necessarily experience simple, comfortable hearing with the Pure 1 AX 312. In a quieter everyday life, it is manageable, but as soon as you have a varied hearing day, manual adjustments become inevitable. We are very pleased with the integrated acclimatization manager. It gradually increases the volume of the hearing aid in tiny steps until our target amplification is eventually reached. We can relax and gradually get used to the new hearing impressions.
The Pure 1 AX 312 is not rechargeable; it operates on hearing aid batteries. Unlike a rechargeable battery, there is no need to charge it daily, but the size 312 battery needs to be replaced after a few days.
We had a carefree everyday experience in our test due to the IP-68 certification. This means that the hearing aid is particularly well protected against dust and water. We marched through the rain and then took the hearing aids out with wet hands – it was no problem at all. However, the water resistance is really only applicable to fresh, natural water and not to soapy bath water or seawater.
Rating Simplicity & security: 2,8
Extras
Sometimes there are additional features in hearing aids that can be quite useful. Let's see how it is with this Signia device: Tinnitus is a topic for many people, but unfortunately, this hearing aid does not have a special tinnitus noise program. So we cannot award an extra point here.
A very good added benefit is the availability of remote support. Through the app, you can contact your hearing care professional and describe your hearing issue. They can then adjust the settings accordingly and load them into the hearing aids via the app. For people with little time or a long commute, this is a great service.
Some hearing aids can track specific health data. However, this requires special sensors in the hearing aid, which we unfortunately do not have in the Pure 1 AX 312. This Signia hearing aid has no further lifestyle options on board. Elsewhere, there are voice assistants or reminder functions, but you don't need those for good hearing. It would have just made the product a bit cooler.

Conclusion: Signia Pure 1 AX 312
In the overall result, this test device ranks in the lower positions and lacks some features. We give it a score of 4.14. For less demanding listeners, this is acceptable, but for a very active lifestyle, we recommend a hearing aid with more extensive comfort features.
