Ideally, everyone would only want to hear speech and drown out all other sounds. But it’s not that simple. Without noise, our lives would sound very thin and empty. With the Styletto 7 IX Slim RIC, we were impressed by its excellent sound management. The mandatory noise suppression is supposed to activate for anything that hums relatively uniformly, such as heating systems or exhaust hoods. With this device, you can be absolutely satisfied with the noise reduction. On the one hand, it has remarkable depth of control, which means it can significantly reduce sounds. On the other hand, it can be adjusted in several stages, as you don’t always need full attenuation. Here, the wind noise suppression is very solid and satisfactorily meets our daily needs. Short and sharp noises are usually annoying, but in this model, there is an adjustable impulse sound control. This makes sounds like cutlery clattering, slamming drawers, or rustling newspapers feel less unpleasant. Normal hearers usually don’t think about spatial hearing. With this hearing aid, we don’t have to either. A sophisticated system of directional microphones and binaural wireless networking generates a 3D effect that comes very close to natural hearing. We found an impressive 20 equalizer bands in the Styletto 7 IX Slim RIC. In each band, the hearing aid activates its sound management, picks out the disturbing parts, and retains important speech components. Sound changes can be targeted and precise. We are very satisfied with this. Especially with sharp or steeply falling hearing curves, such a hearing aid can be very useful. Despite modern comfort features, tricky hearing situations can still arise. For this, the Styletto 7 IX Slim RIC has an assistance mode in its app. Behind this is an artificial intelligence that analyzes the current environment and calculates a noticeably better setting.

Operation & connectivity
Buttons, switches, controls ... or would you rather have an app? Control elements can significantly expand the functionality of hearing aids. Is there something like that in the Styletto 7 IX Slim RIC? We checked. Unfortunately, we couldn't find a button, which is disappointing. Let's keep looking. We do like the small remote controls, and for this model, we found one. This allows discrete adjustments to volume or sound.
In the test, we found no voice control option. This feature isn't strictly necessary, but we would have appreciated it. Some hearing aids can be controlled with a quick tap, without having to press a button. However, this feature is not yet implemented here.

If you desire a comprehensive and powerful fully automatic feature in a hearing aid and want to adjust it as little as possible, this is a perfect choice. The adaptive algorithms untangle the individual sound events in the environment and present the soundscape clearly and precisely. We are very pleased with the integrated acclimatization manager. It gradually increases the volume of the hearing aid in tiny steps until our target amplification is eventually reached. We can comfortably and gradually get used to the new hearing impressions.
The Styletto 7 IX Slim RIC contains a rechargeable battery. We find this very good, as rechargeable hearing aids are absolutely up-to-date. You don’t have to have batteries lying around everywhere and also don’t need to change the battery in the middle of a concert. The hearing aid is simply placed in the charging station overnight and then has enough energy for the following day.
We also take a look at the robustness of the housing and discover in the data sheet the protection class IP 68. This means that dust cannot penetrate at all, and water only becomes hazardous after prolonged submersion. Protection against contact is also included.

There are quite a few people who are occasionally or frequently plagued by ringing or buzzing in their ears. The tinnitus program in the Styletto 7 IX Slim RIC is essentially just a sound generator. It’s about producing broadband noises or sounds that gently and pleasantly stimulate all hearing areas. The tinnitus is drowned out and is no longer perceived as disturbing.
We find the option for remote adjustment really great. It is very helpful when you only want to change something small in the hearing aid settings but don’t want to drive to the audiologist. Instead, you make contact through the app, and the hearing professional sends back a customized data package in the same way.
Special sensors in the Signia Styletto 7 IX Slim RIC provide entirely new insights into your health status. For example, at the end of a day, you can check how many steps you have taken. You don’t even need to have your smartphone with you while on the go. You only need to take a look at the app to read the data. This Signia hearing aid doesn’t have any other lifestyle options onboard. Other devices may offer voice assistants or reminder functions, but you don’t need that for good hearing. It would have just made the product a bit cooler.
