Right from the start, we address the topic of hearing comfort. By this, we mean all the features that ensure a completely pleasant, rich, and interference-free sound. In the S Moxi 9 R, we were impressed by the excellent sound management.
The classic noise suppression is, of course, present here as well. Its task is to recognize and slightly mitigate simple sounds from the environment. In this Unitron model, the manufacturer has not been stingy and provides us with a multi-level, effective noise reduction. Extremely useful is the impulse noise suppression. It captures all rattling, banging, and crackling sounds and reliably reduces them.
Wind noise is always a topic when the hearing aid microphones are somewhat exposed. With the S Moxi 9 R, this is not a problem at all, as it features intelligent, effective wind noise suppression. A very quick way to adjust the volume is the small button on the device. It is easy to feel, and you can increase or decrease the volume in several steps. Additional programs for special hearing situations can also be activated with it. If you want to do without the button, you can simply have it disabled. Those who are not keen on touching their ear to adjust the volume will appreciate the optional remote control. This allows you to make changes to the hearing aid conveniently and discreetly.
Voice control is a modern way of operating hearing aids. Unitron has integrated this function into its model, saving us from having to feel for a small button. Now it gets really modern: With tap control, the Unitron hearing aid can be easily switched. Sensors in the housing detect the touch when you tap your ear briefly with your fingers. And what happens next can be determined together with your hearing care professional. You can, for example, activate voice control or switch to a special program.
As expected, we find a suitable application for smartphones. Here we are dealing with a powerful app that expects a lot from its user and provides a comprehensive toolbox. You no longer need headphones, as it has a wireless option and can transfer sounds from the smartphone directly to your ears – provided the smartphone is equipped with 2.4 GHz LE technology.

We continue the test with a brief assessment of how easy everyday usage will be. Is it complicated? Do I have to be especially careful? Or do I not have to worry about anything? With an exceptionally well-functioning situational automation, the S Moxi 9 R scores points in terms of everyday performance. The finely tuned recognition of the acoustic environment allows us to effortlessly navigate through different listening environments without having to manually readjust. This is exactly what we wish for in a hearing aid. The adjustment to the new hearing sensation is supported by this device with a fully automatic acclimatization manager. It adjusts the amplification in barely noticeable steps until my hearing loss is completely compensated. I have to do nothing but wear my hearing aids regularly.
The S Moxi 9 R has a battery. We find this very good, as rechargeable hearing aids are absolutely up to date. There’s no need to have batteries lying around everywhere, and you also don’t have to change the battery in the middle of a concert. The hearing aid is simply placed in the charging station overnight and has enough energy for the following day.
We also take a look at the durability of the casing and discover the protection class IP 68 in the datasheet. This means that dust cannot penetrate at all, and water only becomes dangerous after prolonged submersion. Protection against contact is also included.

It contains a few extras that significantly expand the functionality of these hearing aids. We really think these additional features are great!
