The Unitron V Moxi 3 312 in review
This test report presents the V Moxi 3 312 from the manufacturer Unitron. Brief model classification: The V Moxi 3 312 is a discreet, small hearing aid that is worn behind the ear. It can accommodate almost any hearing needs and is a hearing aid from a solid mid-range price category. The comfortable position of the speaker in the ear canal ensures good sound quality.
Hearing comfort
First, we evaluate the hearing comfort features. What types of noise does the hearing aid recognize? How does it handle them? Is the hearing aid suitable for a varied daily life? In this test device, solid comfort programming by the hearing care professional is possible. As with all hearing aids, we also find the typical noise reduction feature here. It aims to reduce monotonous, noisy background sounds so that they are not as prominent. With the V Moxi 3 312, we had hoped for a bit more control depth, but – well.
Wind noise is always a topic when the hearing aid microphones are somewhat exposed. With the V Moxi 3 312, this is not a problem at all, as it has intelligent, effective wind noise reduction. This not only mitigates the audible turbulence but also preserves speech understanding. Loud, metallic noises stand no chance in this hearing aid; they are significantly dampened with a multi-stage tool. With 12 frequency bands, one can achieve a pretty good sound. A passionate musician may not be completely satisfied with this, but for normal hearing and sound needs, this number is perfectly sufficient. We miss a good spatial sound, but the automatic focus can be quite helpful in situations with multiple people.
Even in hearing aids, the use of artificial intelligence has been established, for example, here in the V Moxi 3 312. This provides much more data to identify speech and noise. In our experience, the sound of hearing aids with AI is perceived as particularly precise and realistic.
Rating Hearing comfort: 2,5
Operation & connectivity
Occasionally, one finds themselves in situations where it would be beneficial if the hearing aid were set differently. After all, we live in hectic times, where the acoustic environment often changes as well. Most hearing aids have specific options for adjusting the settings on your own. This is how it looks with the V Moxi 3 312: First, we discovered a button directly on the hearing aid. This is very practical, as it is the simplest and quickest way to make a change. The volume can be adjusted through this button, and different hearing programs can also be activated. If you prefer not to adjust anything directly on the ear, the button can of course be deactivated. We do like small remote controls, and for this model, we found one. This allows for discreet adjustments to the volume or sound.
Voice control is an operating option that is becoming increasingly popular. Unitron has recognized this and provides us with this feature in its V Moxi 3 312. We believe this is the fastest way to adjust the volume or switch the hearing program. Some hearing aids can also be controlled with a quick tap of the finger, without needing to press a button. However, this feature is not yet implemented here.
It is very convenient to adjust the hearing aids via the app. There is also a free app for the V Moxi 3 312. In our opinion, the range of functions is mediocre, but mostly sufficient. It’s best to try it out in demo mode beforehand. Problems with making phone calls using a smartphone are a thing of the past with this device. Calls, music, and other sounds are transmitted completely wirelessly to the hearing aids. Headphones become unnecessary. We tested the wireless transmission during longer phone calls as well as for listening to music while exercising. Everything worked simply and smoothly. Only a compatible smartphone with 2.4 GHz wireless technology is needed.
Rating Operation & connectivity: 1,7

Simplicity & security
The test continues: How is the user-friendliness? Is it easy or complicated to handle the hearing aid? When it comes to simplicity in hearing, we do not make compromises. We expect the hearing aid to function fully automatically in the background without constantly having to press any buttons. We are somewhat disappointed with the V Moxi 3 312 in this regard. Only the basic situations are recognized automatically. This means that we cannot really get by without manual controls. We give a big plus point for the automatic acclimatization assistant. It raises the starting volume in very small steps until my hearing goal is reached. This greatly eases the adjustment to the new sound.
We regret that the V Moxi 3 312 does not have a rechargeable battery, but rather operates with hearing aid batteries of size 312. This is not particularly problematic, but one should remember to carry spare batteries. On the other hand: This hearing aid does not need to be charged daily; it runs for a longer time on a single battery.
We had a carefree everyday life during our test due to the IP-68 certification. This indicates that the hearing aid is particularly well protected against dust and water. We marched through the rain and then removed the hearing aids with wet hands – no problem at all. However, the water resistance refers only to fresh, natural water and not to soapy bath water or saltwater.

Extras
Now we have looked at the main features of the hearing aid. But before we come to the end, we want to know if there are any additional features worth mentioning: The tinnitus program is definitely noteworthy. Those who are plagued by annoying ear noises will benefit from it. Pleasant, quiet sounds are set to gently surround the tinnitus. In the end, the tinnitus fades into the background noise and is no longer disturbing at all.
A clever tool is the integrated remote maintenance service. Almost everyone has a smartphone, and time is a precious resource. Therefore, such a remote maintenance service is absolutely appropriate. Anyone needing a new programming for their hearing aids can easily contact their audiologist via the app and describe their hearing wishes. Through a cloud service, the professional can then send an individual setting as a data package to the app. From there, it is loaded onto the hearing aid and can be tried out immediately. This definitely earns extra points in our test.
Tracking health data is a real added value in modern hearing aids. However, this Unitron model lacks the sensors for this service. Other hearing aids already offer some extended options like a fall alert or reminder functions. We do not find that here, and that is not so dramatic, because the normal hearing functions are still the most important.
