The Unitron V Stride 9 UP in review
Could this hearing aid from the Unitron program be the right one for you? In our test report on the V Stride 9 UP, we have highlighted the key aspects. We have a reasonably sized hearing aid at the best quality level that is worn behind the ear. The traditional hearing aid lays the foundation for good hearing success, as the sound has only a very short distance to travel to the eardrum. This ensures that all sounds reach where we want them to.
The V Stride 9 UP provides sufficient amplification for moderate to severe hearing loss.
Hearing comfort
Right from the start, we are dealing with the topic of listening comfort. By this, we mean all the features that ensure a thoroughly pleasant, rich, and trouble-free sound. In the V Stride 9 UP, we were impressed by the excellent sound management.
The classic noise suppression is, of course, also present here. Its purpose is to detect and slightly dampen simple sounds from the environment. This Unitron model incorporates a highly effective and adjustable noise reduction. This keeps listening very comfortable even in challenging environments. Impulse sound suppression is a very important element in the comfort features of a hearing aid. It dampens sounds like banging and clattering noises. In the V Stride 9 UP, this damping occurs in several stages, which definitely earns some extra points.
Wind can significantly restrict listening comfort outdoors when it sweeps over the microphones. However, the V Stride 9 UP has an efficient wind noise suppression feature. It really works well and will delight people who enjoy being outside. It can be adjusted in several stages to suit individual needs. Spatial hearing in this model is nearly lifelike. An advanced directional microphone technology allows for good directional hearing and creates a genuine 3D effect. For a precise, realistic listening experience, the number of adjustable frequency bands is of great importance. With 20, this Unitron device is a true top model and allows for differentiated fine-tuning over several years. It is interesting that artificial intelligence also plays a role in signal processing. The sound is thus not only analyzed based on typical frequency patterns. Particularly intense, noisy situations are perceived as more realistic and pleasant.

Operation & connectivity
Occasionally, one finds themselves in situations where it would be good if the hearing aid were set differently. After all, we live in hectic times where the acoustic environment frequently changes. Most hearing aids have specific options for this purpose, allowing users to influence the settings themselves. This is how it works with the V Stride 9 UP: A very quick way to adjust the volume is the small button on the device. It's easy to feel, and you can set it louder or quieter in several stages. Additional programs for special hearing situations can also be activated with it. If someone wants to do without the button, they can simply have it deactivated. A discreet way to change the hearing aid is the remote control. It fits in any pocket. If the person across from you is speaking too quietly again, one or two clicks are enough to adjust the volume. You can also activate additional hearing programs for listening to music or driving with the remote control.
In our test, we found no option for voice control. This function is not necessarily required, but we would have appreciated it nonetheless. Tap Control would have been an interesting feature as well. With this, you could change the function with a quick tap on your ear. However, this is not available in the V Stride 9 UP yet.
The app is definitely very useful. Anyone with a smartphone should download it. Even though the app is not one of our favorites, it is still a helpful addition to the V Stride 9 UP. We really enjoyed the direct, wireless streaming. This means calls from the smartphone are transmitted to the hearing aids without any additional accessories. This turns the hearing aid into the perfect hands-free system or wireless headphones. Listening to music or watching and listening to videos is incredibly comfortable as well.

Simplicity & security
In the next step, we want to address the topic of user-friendliness. Is the V Stride 9 UP easy to handle? Is it weather-resistant? Do you have to do much to get along with it? Here are our answers: With top-notch situation recognition, the V Stride 9 UP has completely convinced us. The hearing aid seamlessly adapts to the acoustic environment and almost never requires our intervention. Hearing feels completely normal. The adjustment to the new hearing experience is supported by this device with a fully automatic adjustment manager. It adjusts the amplification in hardly noticeable steps until my hearing loss is completely compensated. I only need to wear my hearing aids regularly.
We regret that the V Stride 9 UP does not have a rechargeable battery but is powered by hearing aid batteries size 675. This is not really problematic, but one should remember to carry spare batteries. On the other hand: This hearing aid does not need to be charged every day; it can run for a longer time on a single battery.
The hearing aid has been rated to IP protection class 68. This guarantees comprehensive protection against dust ingress. Water also cannot easily damage the hearing aid. It is therefore well-equipped for outdoor activities where it can get wet and dirty. However, do not necessarily go bathing or swimming with the hearing aids. Bath additives or the salt content in seawater can alter the composition and ultimately cause damage.

Extras
Everyone loves a few extra features, so let's see if we can find some here: A special tinnitus program can be programmed on request in the V Stride 9 UP. This allows for the generation of stimulating, pleasant sounds that distract from tinnitus when it is particularly strong. We find this very useful and gladly award extra points.
We really appreciate the remote adjustment feature. It's very helpful when you only want to change a small thing in the hearing aid setting but don't want to make a trip to the audiologist. Instead, you make contact through the app, and the hearing professional sends back an adjusted data package in the same way.
This V Stride 9 variant does not have sensors, so popular health tracking cannot be offered. For example, steps are counted throughout the day. As mentioned, this hearing aid does not have this function on board. The hearing aid also forgoes additional features such as special assistance systems, a fall alarm, or language translators. This is not a big deal, as it does not affect the important hearing functions.
