The Widex Allure 330 RIC in review
The purchase of a hearing aid requires careful consideration, after all, it comes with a significant price, and one wants to enjoy it for many years. Therefore, we look at various parameters and provide you with the results of our product tests. This test report is about the Allure 330 RIC from Widex. It is a small, hardly visible hearing aid from the premium segment and suitable for both mild and stronger hearing needs. It is worn behind the ear. Due to the deep placement of the speaker in the ear canal, it has quite good acoustic sound properties from the start.
The new Widex Allure offers an impressive focus on the naturalness of speech.
Hearing comfort
What is most bothersome for hearing aid users: Exactly, background noises. That's why we first look at the comfort features of the test device. With the Allure 330 RIC, we were impressed by the excellent sound management. Normal noise suppression is definitely present. It is designed to dampen constant noises like street noise or the sound of an air conditioning unit. In our test device from Widex, the manufacturer has not held back and provides us with a multi-stage, effective noise reduction.
Cracking, metallic noises have no chance in this hearing aid; they are significantly softened with a multi-stage tool. Wind can significantly affect hearing comfort outdoors when it rushes over the microphones. But the Allure 330 RIC has an efficient wind noise suppression system integrated. It works really well and will delight those who enjoy spending time outside. It can be adjusted to individual needs in several stages. While a few more frequency channels would be desirable, the existing 12 channels already provide good usability. Those with normal hearing usually don't think much about spatial hearing. With this hearing aid, we don't have to either. A sophisticated system of directional microphones and bilateral wireless networking generates a 3D effect that closely resembles natural hearing.
Sometimes, the hearing care professional is just not nearby when a hearing problem arises. The Allure 330 RIC helps you with its app, as it features a special assistant that uses artificial intelligence to make precise adjustments to your hearing situation.
Hear familiar sounds again without them sounding artificial: Widex PureSound makes it possible. Especially for mild to moderate hearing loss, the technology provides a completely pleasant listening experience – without distortion.
Rating Hearing comfort: 1,3
Operation & connectivity
Since you probably don’t have your hearing care professional by your side all the time, it’s quite helpful to be able to make adjustments to the hearing aid yourself. There are various operating options, and we will look at which ones the Allure 330 RIC has. There is a button directly on the hearing aid. With it, you can change the volume or activate additional hearing programs. It can be programmed according to the customer's wishes. Usage is, of course, optional. Very practical is the small remote control, which is available as an option. For us, it is one of the most convenient ways to make the hearing aid louder or quieter or to switch to another hearing program. No one notices it; reaching for the ear is not necessary.
We are always pleased when a hearing aid surprises us with a great additional feature. For example, we would have liked to see voice control here. But that is currently not available in the Allure 330 RIC. During our testing, we were quite taken with the tap control. Just tap your ear briefly, and your Widex hearing aid knows it needs to do something. We were already familiar with this sensor-controlled technology from wireless headphones, and it’s great that such a thing is now available in hearing aids too.
You can best adjust the Allure 330 RIC with the corresponding app. The first apps in the past had just a single screen, but this one offers far more than just the usual volume control. Here, we clearly give it points. You no longer need headphones because it has a wireless option and can transmit sounds directly from the smartphone to the ears – if the smartphone is equipped with 2.4 GHz LE technology.
With the manually adjustable focus direction via the app, you decide where your hearing aid "listens" – for example, forward during a conversation at the dining table or sideways when someone is speaking to you in the car. This way, you understand better what is important to you at the moment – even in loud or complex situations.
Rating Operation & connectivity: 1,5

Widex Allure 330 RIC: Use the Allure app also on your Apple Watch. Here, however, only the basic functions such as volume adjustment, channel switching, muting, and checking the battery status are available. All other functions can only be controlled via the smartphone.

Simplicity & security
In the next step, we want to address the topic of user-friendliness. Is the Allure 330 RIC easy to handle? Is it weatherproof? Do you have to do a lot to get used to it? Here are our answers: A well-functioning situation detection already creates a lot of relaxation in daily hearing. You don't have to constantly adjust the device and can easily indulge in the automated adjustment. We give a big plus point for the automatic acclimatization assistant. It increases the starting volume in very small steps until my hearing goal is reached. This significantly facilitates getting used to the new sound.
The Allure 330 RIC is rechargeable and does not require batteries anymore. This is not only environmentally friendly but also very convenient to handle and frees me from the burden of constantly thinking about battery supply.
We had a carefree everyday life during our test due to the IP-68 certification. This means that the hearing aid is particularly well protected against dust and water. We marched through the rain and then took out the hearing aids with wet hands - no problem at all. However, the water resistance really only refers to fresh, natural water and not to foamy bath water or saltwater.
Widex equips its hearing aids with a telecoil that receives direct audio signals – ideal for inductive systems in public spaces. Unlike Bluetooth, no additional device is required. The function is already prepared and can be conveniently activated via the hearing aid button in the future – however, it is not yet activated at present.
Rating Simplicity & security: 1,1

Widex Allure 330 RIC: The open desktop charger fully charges your hearing aids in 4 hours. The fast charging function provides an additional 4 hours of runtime in just 30 minutes.
Extras
The finale is reserved for the extras, which are small additional features that could earn a few extra points for the hearing aid: We noticed the tinnitus option here. If desired, one can have a special tinnitus program set up. This applies gentle white noise to the ears to distract from the annoying tinnitus. The sounds can be customized according to personal hearing preferences.
The remote adjustment feature is something we find really good. It is very helpful whenever you want to change just a small aspect of the hearing aid setting without having to visit the audiologist. Instead, you contact them via the app, and the hearing professional sends back a customized data package through the same route.
Some hearing aids can track certain health data. However, this requires special sensors in the hearing aid, which we unfortunately do not have in the Allure 330 RIC. The functionality in the Allure 330 RIC is limited to normal hearing, which is perfectly fine. Additional features like fall alerts or Siri connections do provide significant added value but are not relevant for good hearing balance.
