Hearing comfort
In the section on hearing comfort, we look at how a hearing aid handles all the background noise. Comfortable noise management significantly contributes to a user liking and regularly wearing their hearing aids. With this Widex device, we only find the absolutely necessary features regarding hearing comfort. The regular noise suppression aims to mitigate uniform, rumbling background noises. In the Moment 110 BTE 13 D, we aren't exactly spoiled, but we can live well with simple noise suppression.
A pulse sound attenuator is unfortunately not included in the Moment 110 BTE 13 D. When the wind sweeps over the microphones outdoors, we wish for wind noise reduction. However, this is lacking here, and in some outdoor situations, it can significantly affect hearing comfort. Unfortunately, spatial hearing is not that well developed. While the hearing aids can focus forward, it doesn't help when trying to determine from which direction a car is approaching or where someone is calling from. We also find the low number of frequency channels not so optimal. The device only has 6 of them, which leaves little room for both initial programming and longer-term adjustments, and one has to accept some sound quality compromises.
The signal processing is based, among other things, on typical frequency patterns of speech and noise, but artificial intelligence is not yet in use here.

This way, you can enjoy the best possible TV understanding as if with a wireless headset, without having to completely forego conversation with others.
Operation & connectivity
The operation options for hearing aids today are as simple or as complex as one would like. The basic functions run fully automatically, of course. We wanted to know how a user can additionally access the Moment 110 BTE 13 D. For those who want to quickly and easily adjust the volume, there is a button on the device. One can also select additional programs for special hearing situations through it. Those who prefer not to touch their ear to adjust the volume will appreciate the optional remote control. This allows for comfortable and discreet changes to the hearing aid.
Some hearing aids can already be controlled by voice, but this one from Widex unfortunately cannot yet. It would be practical for those whose fingers are not as agile or for those who simply like smart gadgets. Some hearing aids can also be operated with a quick tap, without having to press a button. However, this feature is not yet implemented here.
As is now common, there is also a smartphone app for the Moment 110 BTE 13 D. This app includes solid basic functions and adds a few bonuses on top. We really enjoyed the direct, wireless streaming. This means that calls from the smartphone are transferred to the hearing aids without any additional accessories. This turns the hearing aid into a perfect hands-free system or wireless headphones. Listening to music or watching and hearing videos is incredibly comfortable.

We receive relatively little support from the automatic program of the Moment 110 BTE 13 D. Without a few individual hearing programs, one will probably struggle in a lively everyday life. A great feature of this hearing aid is the automatic acclimatization. Especially when someone has been hearing poorly for a long time and then wears a hearing aid for the first time, this is an enormous relief. The volume does not have to be raised immediately to the maximum. One can start at a lower level and gradually and almost imperceptibly increase the amplification toward the goal.
The Moment 110 BTE 13 D relies on power supply with batteries instead of rechargeable batteries. Advantage: Very long battery life. Unlike rechargeable solutions, one has to worry about the power supply only very rarely. Disadvantage: Waste is generated in the form of used batteries. This hearing aid uses a hearing aid battery size 13.
With an IP 68 certification, the hearing aid can withstand various adverse influences. Dust cannot penetrate, it also withstands longer immersion in water, and it is protected against contact as well.

A great additional benefit is the remote maintenance service. Through the app, users can contact their audiologist and describe their hearing problem. The audiologist can then adjust the settings accordingly and upload them to the hearing aids via the app. This is a fantastic service for people with little time or a long commute.
Tracking health data is a real added value in modern hearing aids. However, this Widex model lacks the sensors for this service. The device from Widex focuses on essential hearing functions and does not offer extras such as voice assistants or translation features. While that could have been fun, it is not necessary for a good hearing experience.
