Once again, we are focusing on a hearing aid from the company Widex. This time, it is a classic behind-the-ear hearing aid called Moment 330 BTE R D. It is a compact hearing aid, and it is priced in the business class. It can be used for mild, moderate, and even severe hearing needs. Let’s take a look at what the interior has to offer:
Hearing comfort
First, we assess the hearing comfort features. What types of sounds does the hearing aid recognize? How does it manage those sounds? Is the hearing aid suitable for a varied daily life? Here with this test device, a solid comfort programming by the audiologist is possible. As in all hearing aids, we also find typical background noise suppression here. It aims to reduce monotonous, noisy ambient sounds to the point that they no longer dominate. The Moment 330 BTE R D offers a fairly well-functioning noise reduction.
Unfortunately, this hearing aid does not yet have wind noise suppression. Too bad. Short, loud sounds are quickly recognized and effectively reduced by the Moment 330 BTE R D, thanks to a controllable impulse sound suppressor. A solid foundation for programming the Moment 330 BTE R D is provided by the 12 equalizer bands. As sound enthusiasts, we do wish for a few more, but for the typical situations we encounter in our daily lives, a quite decent sound profile can be created from them. Directional hearing often needs a little support for hearing aid users. The Moment 330 BTE R D provides this support confidently and allows for good spatial orientation.
Despite modern comfort features, tricky hearing situations can still arise. For this, the Moment 330 BTE R D has an assistant mode in its app. It utilizes artificial intelligence to analyze the current environment and calculate a noticeably better setting.

Operation & connectivity
Most hearing aids automatically adjust to their environment. However, it is sometimes very practical to be able to change something yourself. After all, the hearing aid does not know how you are feeling at the moment. We have looked at the control options that the Moment 330 BTE R D has to offer: There is a button directly on the hearing aid. This allows you to change the volume or activate additional hearing programs. It can be programmed according to the customer's wishes. Using it is, of course, optional. If desired, there is a remote control for the hearing aid. This allows you to easily adjust the volume. The handling is not only child’s play, but no one will notice that you are adjusting your hearing aids.
For some time now, there has been a trend to adjust hearing aids louder or quieter using voice commands. The idea is really good, but Widex has not yet integrated this feature into this device. Don't worry, this feature would be nice, but it is not essential. Another option for controlling the hearing aids is a tap control. You simply tap your ear with your fingers, which triggers a specific function. However, this option is not available in this Widex device.
As expected, we find a suitable app for the smartphone. Here we have a powerful app that trusts its users and provides an extensive toolbox. One of the best features in the hearing aid is the direct streaming function. This turns the hearing aid into a TrueWireless headset and receives phone calls and other sounds directly in the ear. The prerequisite is a compatible smartphone that includes 2.4 GHz technology. The biggest advantage is that you hear phone calls not just in one ear, but in both. Additionally, the sound can be tailored to personal needs.

A reliable automatic situation detection gives the Moment 330 BTE R D important points in terms of simplicity. Most hearing situations are well recognized, so manual readjustment is rarely necessary. We give a big plus point for the automatic acclimatization assistant. It gradually increases the starting volume in very small steps until my hearing goal is reached. This significantly eases the acclimatization to the new sound.
The Moment 330 BTE R D is rechargeable and no longer requires batteries. This is not only environmentally friendly but also very convenient to handle and frees me from the burden of constantly needing to think about battery supply.
The Moment 330 is almost dust and water-resistant and with its IP 68 rating is certainly well protected against external influences.

Before we reach the end, let's take a look at the extras: A special tinnitus program is currently programmable on the Moment 330 BTE R D upon request. This allows for the generation of stimulating, pleasant sounds that distract from the tinnitus when it is particularly strong. We find this very useful and are happy to award extra points.
A clever tool is the integrated remote service. Almost everyone has a smartphone, and time is a scarce resource. Therefore, such a remote service is absolutely appropriate. Those who need a new programming for their hearing aids can easily contact the audiologist through the app and describe their hearing preferences. Through a cloud service, the professional can then send an individual adjustment as a data package to the app. From there, it is loaded onto the hearing aid and can be tried out immediately. This definitely earns extra points in our test.
There are no sensors in this Moment 330 variant, so the popular health tracking cannot be offered. This would involve counting steps throughout the day, for example. As mentioned, this hearing aid does not have this function onboard. This Widex hearing aid does not include any additional lifestyle options. Other products offer voice assistants or reminder functions, but you don't need that for good hearing. It would have just made the product a bit cooler.
