It is, by the way, adjustable in stages. Additionally, there is a really strong impulse filter in here, which reduces all short, intense impulses as desired by the customer. For a precise, lifelike listening experience, the number of adjustable frequency bands is of great importance. With 24, this Bernafon device is a true top model and allows for differentiated fine-tuning over several years. The hearing aid earns a big plus point for its excellent 3D hearing. Flexible, highly adaptive directional microphones allow for various directional characteristics and automatically adjust to the requirements of each situation.
Artificial intelligence has also made its way into hearing aids, for example, here in the Alpha XT 9 MNR T R. This means there is much more data available to identify speech and noise. In our experience, the sound of hearing aids with AI is perceived as particularly precise and realistic.

We looked at the control options offered by the Alpha XT 9 MNR T R: For those who want to quickly and easily adjust the volume louder or quieter, there is a button on the device. You can also select additional programs for special hearing situations through this. We do like the small remote controls, and we found one for this model. This allows for discreet small adjustments to the volume or sound.
We do not yet find the modern way of controlling via voice command in the Alpha XT 9 MNR T R. Tap Control would have also been an interesting feature. With that, you can change the function with a quick tap on the ear. But this is not available in the Alpha XT 9 MNR T R yet.
The best way to adjust the Alpha XT 9 MNR T R is with the accompanying app. The first apps in the past only had a single screen, but this one offers far more than just the usual volume control. Clearly, this earns our praise. You no longer need headphones here, as it has a wireless option and can transmit sounds directly from the smartphone into the ears – provided the smartphone is equipped with 2.4 GHz LE technology.

The performance of the Alpha XT 9 MNR T R is exceptionally good in this regard. It has a multitude of typical hearing situations stored that the device autonomously recognizes and always generates the appropriate setting. A crucial aspect of simplicity for us is support during the acclimatization phase. Especially after hearing poorly for years, it can sometimes be challenging to perceive everything at a natural volume. Our test device has an acclimatization manager that helps us through the adjustment phase with very small volume adjustments. After a few weeks or months, we then reach the calculated amplification level.
The Alpha XT 9 MNR T R is rechargeable and no longer requires batteries. This is not only environmentally friendly but also very convenient to use and frees me from the burden of constantly thinking about battery replenishment.
The Alpha XT 9 is nearly dust and water-resistant and, with its IP 68 classification, is certainly well protected against external influences.

Lastly, we are interested in whether there are a few additional goodies: A special tinnitus program can be programmed into the Alpha XT 9 MNR T R upon request. This allows for the generation of stimulating, pleasant sounds that distract from tinnitus when it is particularly strong. We find this very useful and are happy to award extra points.
The ability to adjust settings remotely is something we really like. It is especially helpful when you only want to change a small detail in the hearing aid settings but don't want to go to the audiologist just for that. Instead, you make contact via the app, and the hearing professional sends a customized data package back through the same channel.
If Bernafon had integrated motion sensors into this hearing aid, individual health tracking could even be possible. However, this is not the case here. These points are lost for the Alpha XT 9 MNR T R in the rating. There are also a few lifestyle features that turn your hearing aid into a smart assistant. Connect with voice assistants like Siri, or discover what else the app has to offer. While this might not have much to do with actual hearing, it can be extremely useful.
