We tested a delicate, small hearing aid at the highest quality level this time. It is the Bernafon Viron 9 MNR T. It is worn behind the ear and is designed for both mild and more severe hearing needs. Hearing comfort

There is also wind management. We find this very good, as many people enjoy being outdoors. The reduction of wind noise occurs here at a moderate level.
The suppression of short, loud sound events has convinced us here; it is quite powerful. Directional hearing often needs a little support for hearing aid users. The Viron 9 MNR T provides this support confidently and allows for good spatial orientation. Those who want a hearing aid with many options will be well served with the Viron 9 MNR T. It has 16 frequency bands and thus offers great adjustment possibilities. The sound can be modified according to individual preferences, even after several years.
Sometimes we encounter hearing aids that successfully process data with the help of artificial intelligence, but this is not yet the case in this device.

Operation & connectivity
The majority of hearing aids automatically adjust to their environment. However, it is sometimes very practical to be able to make changes oneself. After all, the hearing aid doesn’t know how you are feeling at the moment. We have looked at the control options offered by the Viron 9 MNR T: There is a button directly on the hearing aid. With this, you can change the volume or activate additional hearing programs. It can be programmed according to customer preferences. Using it is, of course, optional. A remote control is available for the Viron 9 MNR T. It is quite handy, fits in your pocket, and offers a volume up-down option as well as various hearing programs.
In our test, we did not find a voice control option. This function is not necessarily required, but it would have pleased us nonetheless. If there are sensors in the hearing aid, a tap control could be feasible, which would trigger a specific function by tapping your fingers on your ear. However, this option is not available in the Viron 9 MNR T.
The app is definitely very useful. Anyone with a smartphone should download it. Even though the app is not one of our favorites, it is still a helpful addition to the Viron 9 MNR T. One of the best features of the hearing aid is the direct streaming function. This turns the hearing aid into a TrueWireless headphone and receives phone calls and other sounds directly in the ear. The prerequisite is a compatible smartphone that includes the 2.4 GHz technology. The biggest advantage is that you can hear phone calls not only in one ear but in both. Additionally, the sound can be adjusted to personal needs.

An important factor for the acceptance of a hearing aid is its practicality in everyday life. This includes, for example, automated functions as well as robustness and user-friendliness. With the Viron 9 MNR T, we experienced an effective situational automation that supports our hearing well. This already ensures that we do not have to constantly adjust the hearing aid. We are also very pleased about the integrated acclimatization manager. It gradually increases the volume of the hearing aid in tiny steps until our target amplification is eventually reached. We can relax and gradually get used to the new auditory impressions.
The Viron 9 MNR T gets its energy from small disposable batteries that need to be replaced every few days. While this is not rocket science, it should be considered, especially for those with motor skills issues. A rechargeable battery would be much simpler to handle.
We also take a look at the robustness of the housing and find the protection class IP 68 in the data sheet. This prevents dust from entering at all, and water only becomes dangerous after prolonged submersion. Protection against contact is also included.

Finally, let's take a quick look to see if there are any extras: A special tinnitus program can be programmed into the Viron 9 MNR T upon request. This can generate stimulating, pleasant sounds that distract from tinnitus when it is particularly strong. We find this very useful and happily award extra points.
A clever tool is the integrated remote maintenance service. Almost everyone has a smartphone, and time is a scarce resource. Therefore, such a remote maintenance service is absolutely appropriate. Those who need a new programming for their hearing aids can easily contact the acoustician via the app and describe their hearing preferences. Via a cloud service, the professional can then send an individual setting as a data package to the app. From there, it is loaded onto the hearing aid and can be tried out immediately. This definitely earns extra points in our test.
Some hearing aids can track certain health data. However, this requires special sensors in the hearing aid, which are unfortunately not present in the Viron 9 MNR T. We were particularly impressed by the additional functions that are included in the Viron 9 MNR T. Various assistants support your daily life beyond hearing and can be configured in the app. Hearing aids like this are hard to part with. By the way: These lifestyle features are often still being worked on, so it may be that they change depending on updates.
