What is most bothersome for hearing aid users: Exactly, the background noise. Therefore, let's first take a look at the comfort features of the test device. With the HearLink 5010 MNR T, we found very few options for comfort adjustment. Normal noise suppression is definitely available. It is supposed to dampen constant sounds like street noise or the humming of the air conditioner. In our test device from Philips, we are not exactly pampered, but we can manage well with basic noise suppression.
The impulse sound management is relatively simple; it dampens short loud noises a bit, which is okay. There is a basic wind noise reduction. Outside, this is quite useful, but it is actually insufficient for stronger autumn winds. The HearLink 5010 MNR T may not have many adjustable equalizer bands, but the 12 should be enough for a good listening experience. We miss a good spatial sound, but the automatic focus can be quite helpful in situations with multiple people.
Sometimes we encounter hearing aids that successfully process data using artificial intelligence, but this device has not reached that level yet.

The majority of hearing aids automatically adjust to their surroundings. However, it is sometimes very practical to be able to make some changes yourself. After all, the hearing aid does not know how you are currently feeling. We looked into the control options offered by the HearLink 5010 MNR T: First, we discovered a button directly on the hearing aid. This is very sensible, as it is the easiest and fastest way to make an adjustment. The volume can be adjusted through it, and different hearing programs can also be activated. If you prefer not to change anything directly at the ear, you can of course deactivate the button. If desired, there is a remote control available for the hearing aid. This allows for effortless volume control. Not only is it extremely easy to use, but no one will notice that you are currently adjusting your hearing aids.
We always appreciate it when a hearing aid surprises us with a great additional feature. For example, we would have liked to see a voice control option here. However, this is not available in the HearLink 5010 MNR T at present. The ability to control the hearing aids with a simple touch of a finger is not available in this Philips model, as it would require specific sensors in the housing.
It is very convenient to adjust the hearing aids via the app. There is also a free app available for the HearLink 5010 MNR T. In our opinion, the range of functions is mediocre but usually sufficient. It’s best to try it out in demo mode beforehand. For our digital everyday life, a streaming option would be nice. The current device meets our wish and comes with a 2.4 GHz wireless module. This allows you to send calls and sounds directly from your smartphone to the hearing aids.

Some people find it difficult to get used to it, but this hearing aid makes it easy for us to cope with the new volume. There is a familiarization manager that gradually leads us to the required target amplification. The period can last a few weeks or several months; this is individually adjustable. The individual steps are so small that you hardly notice that there has just been a volume increase.
The HearLink 5010 MNR T is not rechargeable. It is powered by hearing aid batteries size 312. Disadvantage: The batteries are disposed of after use. Advantage: The daily charging of batteries is unnecessary; the hearing aid runs continuously for several days with one battery.
With IP 68 certification, the hearing aid can withstand various adverse influences. Dust cannot penetrate, it can withstand prolonged immersion in water, and it is also protected against contact.

This is exactly what we expect from a modern hearing aid.
A new trend in the hearing aid industry is integrated sensors that can track personal health data, for example. However, the HearLink 5010 MNR T does not offer this. There are also some lifestyle functions that turn your hearing aid into a smart assistant. Connect with voice assistants like Siri, or discover what else is available in the app. While this may not have much to do with actual hearing, it can be extremely useful.
