The Philips HearLink 9030 MNR T R in review

Wenn der Hersteller neue Geräte auf den Markt bringt, versehen wir die alten mit einem Abschlag in der Gesamtnote. Einen Überblick über den Markt erhalten Sie in unserem großen Hörgerätevergleich.

Philips offers the HearLink 9030 MNR T R, a discreet hearing aid that is worn behind the ear. It is a hearing aid from the high-end category and is suitable for mild, moderate, and even severe hearing loss. By making the smart decision to place the speaker directly in the ear canal, it ensures that sound reaches the eardrum without loss.

Hearing comfort

In the section on hearing comfort, we look at how a hearing aid handles all the background noise. Comfortable noise management significantly contributes to a user liking and regularly wearing their hearing aids. For this Philips device, the manufacturer provides the customer with comprehensive sound management. The regular noise suppression aims to reduce uniform, rumbling background noises. In the HearLink 9030 MNR T R, the noise suppression can be adjusted to the customer's preference.

Quickly occurring, clattering sounds are noticeably and sufficiently dampened, which we find pleasant. A decent wind management helps to suppress the small turbulences at the hearing aid microphones. This feature is indispensable for all outdoor lovers. Spatial hearing is of great importance for orientation in space and recognizing directions and distances. With this hearing aid from Philips, you can feel completely secure. It mimics the functioning of natural hearing and makes information from all directions accessible. The number of frequency bands is very important for good speech-noise distinction. With 24, this hearing aid is among the best and offers excellent adjustment options.

Even hearing aids have embraced the use of artificial intelligence, as seen here in the HearLink 9030 MNR T R. This provides much more data to identify speech and noise. In our experience, the sound of hearing aids with AI is perceived as particularly precise and realistic.

Operation & connectivity

Most hearing aids automatically adjust to their surroundings. However, it can sometimes be very practical to make changes yourself. After all, the hearing aid doesn't know how you are feeling at the moment. We looked at the control options offered by the HearLink 9030 MNR T R: A very quick way to adjust the volume is the small button on the device. It is easy to feel, and you can raise or lower the volume in several steps. Additional programs for specific listening situations can also be activated with it. If you prefer not to use the button, it can simply be deactivated. If desired, there is a remote control for the hearing aid. This allows for effortless volume adjustment. The handling is not only child’s play, but no one will notice that you are currently adjusting your hearing aids.

Voice commands are a relatively new way to control hearing aids. However, this model does not have that option yet. This is not a big deal - the main thing is that you can hear well. There is no control of the hearing aids with a simple tap in this Philips model, as it would require specific sensors in the casing.

Our favorite tool for hearing aids is the app, and we really like this one. In addition to the obligatory volume controls, there are options for sound manipulation. This significantly expands the potential of the HearLink 9030 MNR T R and provides relief when listening becomes strenuous again. One of the best features of the hearing aid is the direct streaming function. This turns the hearing aid into a TrueWireless headphone and receives phone calls and other sounds directly in the ear. A prerequisite is a compatible smartphone that includes the 2.4 GHz technology. The biggest advantage is that you can hear phone calls not only in one ear but in both. Furthermore, the sound can be tailored to personal preferences.

Simplicity & security

Another point on our checklist is handling. Does everything work simply and reliably? What does the hearing aid offer to ensure safe use in everyday life? With top-class situation recognition, we are completely convinced by the HearLink 9030 MNR T R. The hearing aid seamlessly adapts to the acoustic environment and almost never requires our intervention. Hearing feels completely normal. A great feature of this hearing aid is the automatic acclimatization. Especially when you have been hearing poorly for a while and then wear a hearing aid for the first time, this is a huge relief. The volume doesn't have to be turned up all at once. You can start at a lower level, and gradually and almost imperceptibly, the amplification approaches the target.

The HearLink 9030 MNR T R is equipped with a rechargeable battery. We think this is very good because rechargeable hearing aids are absolutely up-to-date. You don't have to have batteries lying around everywhere, nor do you have to change the battery in the middle of a concert. The hearing aid is simply placed in the charging station overnight and has enough energy for the following day.

We also take a look at the robustness of the housing and find the protection class IP 68 in the data sheet. This means dust cannot penetrate at all, and water only becomes dangerous after longer submersion. Protection against contact is also included.

Extras

Finally, let's briefly check if there are any extras: We would have liked to discover a tinnitus program at this point, but unfortunately, there is none.

Philips is keeping up with the times and offers a forward-thinking feature with the remote setting service. Busy individuals with little time can contact their audiologist online and have their hearing aids reprogrammed. Hearing aid users who have a longer commute to the specialist shop also benefit from this special service.

This HearLink 9030 variant does not have sensors, so the popular health tracking cannot be offered. For example, steps taken throughout the day are counted. As mentioned, this hearing aid does not have that function on board. In conjunction with a smartphone, the HearLink 9030 MNR T R surprises us with a few nice lifestyle features. It is definitely worth getting thoroughly familiar with the app and using the offered assistance programs.
