The Phonak Audeo Marvel 30 RT in review
Die Marvel-Serie ist inzwischen in die Jahre gekommen, die Gesamtnote erhält deshalb von uns eine Abwertung. Das ist die Nachfolge-Modellreihe: Phonak Paradise
Phonak launches its Audeo Marvel 30 RT, which features direct speaker orientation in the ear canal, at a price point slightly above the average. It is a small hearing aid for mild to severe hearing loss and is worn behind the ear.
Hearing comfort
The comfort features determine how pleasant hearing is experienced in everyday life. With this hearing aid, we find only the absolute essentials regarding hearing comfort. A classic noise suppression is meant to reduce annoying background noises to a bearable level. In the Audeo Marvel 30 RT, we had hoped for a bit more adjustment depth, but – well. Unfortunately, this hearing aid does not yet have wind noise suppression. A shame.
A filter for rattling, popping noises is not present here – unfortunately, no points for that. The device detects whether the microphones should transmit everything or should be directed forward. This can help in conversation situations, but it does not replace real spatial hearing. With 8 frequency bands, we are not entirely satisfied with the RT, but for uncomplicated hearing curves, it should be sufficient. The sound is probably not entirely natural with this.
The signal processing is based among other things on typical frequency patterns of speech and noise, but artificial intelligence is not yet utilized here.
The operating system used in this hearing aid is AutoSense 3.0. There is a newer version 4.0 that is used in the hearing aids of the Phonak Paradise family.
Rating Hearing comfort: 5,3
Operation & connectivity
How can one fully exploit the potential of hearing aids in everyday life? We found out what access options are available with the Audeo Marvel 30 RT. For those who want to quickly and easily adjust the volume, there is a button on the device. Additional programs for special listening situations can also be selected through it. Those who are not keen on touching their ear to increase the volume will appreciate the optional remote control. This allows for comfortable and discreet adjustments to the hearing aid.
In our test, we found no option for voice control. This feature is not necessarily required, but we would have appreciated it nonetheless. Some hearing aids can be controlled with a quick tap of the finger, without needing to press a button. However, this feature is not implemented here yet.
For better usability, the manufacturer also provides an app for smartphones. The Phonak app for Audeo Marvel 30 RT is impressive: not only can you change the volume, but you can truly influence the sound and various noise parameters. You no longer need headphones, as it has a wireless option and can transfer sounds directly from the smartphone to the ears – provided the smartphone is equipped with 2.4 GHz LE technology.
This hearing aid has a T-mode. Behind it is a telephone coil. This component can, when activated by the user, receive inductive signals wirelessly. This allows sound to be transmitted free of charge and comfortably in concert halls, churches, train stations, or public administrations.

Simplicity & security
Of course, we are also interested in how quickly one gets used to the Audeo Marvel 30 RT and how easy daily use is. Typical hearing situations that everyone experiences in their environment are reliably recognized and adjusted through automatic settings. However, for more specific, recurring needs, one cannot avoid using the manual hearing programs. The device supports the acclimatization to the new hearing experience with a fully automatic acclimatization manager. It adjusts the amplification in barely noticeable steps until my hearing loss is fully compensated. I don't have to do anything other than regularly wear my hearing aids.
The Audeo Marvel 30 RT is rechargeable and does not require batteries anymore. This is not only environmentally friendly but also very convenient to handle and frees me from the burden of constantly thinking about battery replacements.
We also take a look at the robustness of the casing and discover in the datasheet the protection class IP 68. This means that dust cannot penetrate at all, and water only becomes a danger after prolonged submersion. Protection against contact is also included.

Extras
Finally, let's take a quick look at any additional features: We noticed the tinnitus option here. Those who wish can have a special tinnitus program set up. This gently masks the annoying tinnitus with soft background noise to provide a little distraction. The sounds can be tailored to personal hearing preferences.
A very good added benefit is the offer of remote maintenance. Through the app, one can contact their audiologist and describe their hearing problem. The audiologist can then adjust the settings accordingly and upload them to the hearing aids via the app. For people with little time or a long commute, this is a great service.
Some hearing aids can track specific health data. However, this requires special sensors in the hearing aid, which we unfortunately do not have in the Audeo Marvel 30 RT. The hearing aid forgoes additional features such as special assistance systems, a fall alarm, or a speech translator. This is not a major issue, as it does not affect the essential hearing functions.

Conclusion: Phonak Audeo Marvel 30 RT
In the overall assessment, this device ranks towards the lower end and provides us with little more than a solid basic configuration. Of course, you can understand speech with the device, just like with all hearing aids, but not much is done to reduce listening effort. Our overall rating: 4.54. Please always consider this rating in relation to the price range of this hearing aid.
