Phonak offers the Audeo Paradise 50 R, a small hearing aid that is worn behind the ear. It is a mid-range hearing aid suitable for mild to severe hearing losses. By the smart decision to place the speaker directly in the ear canal, it ensures that sound reaches the eardrum without loss.
Hearing comfort
Firstly, we looked at the comfort features. The better these are, the easier and more pleasant the listening experience becomes. With this hearing aid, we found only a few options for comfort enhancement. The traditional noise suppression works to reduce uniform, unimportant sounds slightly. The Audeo Paradise 50 R includes a remarkable, well-functioning noise reduction system. Unfortunately, this hearing aid does not yet have wind noise suppression. That's a pity.
An impulse sound suppressor is unfortunately not included in the Audeo Paradise 50 R. The adjustable microphones help to detect certain directions and can also assist in noise cancellation, but the room sound was not very natural. The Audeo Paradise 50 R is one of the good hearing aids, at least in terms of the number of frequency bands. With 16 bands, it is well-equipped for precise adjustment to personal sound preferences.
Strategies based on artificial intelligence have not yet been implemented in this hearing aid from Phonak.

It can be configured as a volume control or program selection button and can also be disabled if desired. We do like the small remote controls, and we have found one for this model. This allows for discreet adjustments to the volume or sound.
The modern form of operation via voice command is not yet found in the Audeo Paradise 50 R. If there are sensors in the hearing aid, a tap control could be conceivable, which would trigger a specific function by tapping the ear with your fingers. However, this option is not available in the Audeo Paradise 50 R.
Setting loudness or special functions via an app is already widespread today, and the Audeo Paradise 50 R also takes this route and provides us with an app. This app offers much more than just hearing aid functions and gives us a hint about what hearing aids could be used for in the future - besides good hearing. For our digital everyday life, a streaming option would not be bad. The device at hand fulfills our wish and comes with a 2.4 GHz radio module. This allows phone calls and sounds to be sent directly from the smartphone to the hearing aids.

The Audeo Paradise 50 R is capable of differentiating between quiet and loud environments on its own, but there is not much more to the automatic program. One can hardly do without manual adjustment options here. We are very pleased with the integrated acclimatization manager. It gradually increases the volume of the hearing device in tiny steps until our target amplification is eventually reached. We can comfortably and gradually get used to the new auditory impressions.
A major relief in everyday life is the integrated battery. This ensures that my Audeo Paradise 50 R always has enough power for the whole day, and I no longer have to worry about the batteries suddenly running out in the middle of an event. Even with limited dexterity, a battery system is very helpful because there is no need to insert small button cells.
We also take a look at the robustness of the housing and discover the IP 68 protection class in the data sheet. This means that dust cannot penetrate at all, and water only becomes dangerous after prolonged submersion. Protection against contact is also included.

A very good additional benefit comes from the remote maintenance service. Through the app, you can contact your hearing care professional and describe your hearing problem. They can adjust the settings accordingly and upload them to the hearing aids via the app. For people with little time or a long commute, this is a great service.
Do you sometimes use your smartphone to track your daily steps? This has now become not only easier but also more accurate. The Audeo Paradise 50 R from Phonak has integrated sensors that make tracking very precise. Other health data can also be recorded - in our view, this is a real added value. It would have been nice to have a few lifestyle functions, but those are not available in the Audeo Paradise 50 R. Other hearing aids can score points with language translators or fall alarms, but here it remains within the usual range of functions.
