What exactly can the Bolero Marvel 50 M from the manufacturer Phonak do? First of all, it is a conventional hearing aid that sits behind the ear. It covers mild to moderate hearing loss. This model is a delicate, small hearing aid from the upper mid-range. What can it offer in everyday hearing? What comfort features does it come with? We took a closer look at it.

Hearing comfort

Good speech comprehension is a given in modern hearing aids. Equally important is listening comfort. Only when the ratio of speech transmission to the level of background noise is right can hearing be perceived as pleasant. That's why we take a look at the comfort features: In the Bolero Marvel 50 M, we find only the absolute essentials regarding hearing comfort. Normal background noises such as street noise, vacuum cleaner sound, or that from a fan should be suppressed by classic noise cancellation. In this Phonak hearing aid, there is a somewhat functioning noise reduction.

A well-functioning situation recognition already creates a lot of relaxation in everyday hearing. One does not have to constantly adjust the device and can easily indulge in the automated adjustment. We are very pleased with the integrated acclimatization manager. It gradually increases the volume of the hearing aid in tiny steps until our target amplification is eventually reached. We can relax and gradually get used to the new hearing impressions.

The Bolero Marvel 50 M is not rechargeable. It continues to get its energy from disposable batteries size 312, which need to be changed every few days.

Phonak provides us with a robust hearing aid that is completely dust-tight and also protected against touch and occasional submersion.

The option for remote adjustment is something we really like. It is very helpful whenever you want to make just a small change to the hearing aid settings but do not want to drive to the audiologist. Instead, you can get in touch through the app, and the hearing professional sends back an adjusted data package in the same way.

If Phonak had integrated motion sensors into this hearing aid, individual health tracking could even be possible. However, that is not the case here. These aspects result in a loss of points for the Bolero Marvel 50 M in the rating. The hearing aid also forgoes additional features such as special assistance systems, a fall alert, or language translators. This is not too concerning, as it does not affect the important hearing functions.
