The Phonak Naida Paradise 70 UP in review
Mit der Einführung der Phonak Lumity-Familie gelten diese Hörgeräte als überholt. Die Gesamtnote erhält daher eine Abwertung.
Once again, we focus on a hearing aid from the company Phonak. This time it is a traditional behind-the-ear hearing aid called Naida Paradise 70 UP. It is a well-shaped, compact hearing aid, and it is priced in the upper range. It can be used for moderate as well as stronger hearing needs. Let's take a look at what the interior has to offer:
Hearing comfort
In the Hearing Comfort section, we look at how a hearing aid handles all the background noise. Comfortable noise management significantly contributes to a user liking and regularly wearing their hearing aids. In this Phonak device, the manufacturer provides the customer with comprehensive sound management. The regular noise cancellation aims to reduce uniform, noisy background sounds. In the Naida Paradise 70 UP, we find a truly strong noise cancellation that makes listening extremely pleasant.
Once you've experienced impulse sound suppression in a hearing aid, you don't want to give it up. The Naida Paradise 70 UP has such a feature and can thus effortlessly handle all short and intense sound events. This includes, for example, the clattering of dishes in the kitchen or footsteps on a hard floor. Phonak is likely to impress all outdoor enthusiasts with this device, as wind is not only pleasantly dampened, but speech understanding should continue to work flawlessly. Spatial hearing in this model is almost realistic. A sophisticated directional microphone technology allows for good directional hearing and creates a genuine 3D effect. With 20 channels, the frequency band count in the Naida Paradise 70 UP is very high. This allows the hearing aid to be perfectly tuned to any hearing ability and offers good long-term tuning options.
Other hearing aids are already using artificial intelligence in their signal processing, but this strategy is not yet present in the Naida Paradise 70 UP.

Phonak Naida Paradise 70 UP:
Operation & connectivity
“Can I adjust something on my hearing aid myself?” “Is there perhaps an app?” These and similar questions are becoming increasingly important when choosing a hearing aid, so let's take a look at the operating and connection options. The simplest method of operation is always a button directly on the hearing aid. This one has it as well. It can be programmed according to your wishes. Do you want a manual volume control? No problem, the button allows for step-by-step volume adjustment. Or do you need different special programs for your professional life or your hobbies? These can also be activated via the button. Anyone who wants to leave everything in automatic mode can simply ignore the button or even have it deactivated. A remote control is available for the Naida Paradise 70 UP. It's quite handy, fits in your pocket, and offers a volume up and down option as well as various listening programs.
Voice commands are a rather new way of operating hearing aids. However, we do not have this option in this model. That's not a big deal – as long as you can hear well. This Phonak model does not have control with a simple tap of the finger, as that would have required specific sensors in the housing.
Apps for hearing aids are widely available today. This one for the Naida Paradise 70 UP has awakened our playful side. It's fun to use this app because it expands the functionality of the hearing aid with some very useful tools. You no longer need headphones here, as it has a wireless option and can transmit sounds directly from the smartphone to your ears – provided the smartphone is equipped with 2.4 GHz LE technology.

Simplicity & security
Ease of use is the next aspect we want to address. This is about everyday practicality and the question of how easily and safely one can navigate life with a hearing aid. The situation recognition integrated in the Naida Paradise 70 UP is rated in the middle range. The most important loud and quiet situations are recognized and adapted. However, for acoustically more complex moments, this is not quite sufficient, and one cannot avoid additional manual adjustment options. Very important for us in terms of simplicity is the support during the acclimatization process. Especially after having heard poorly for years, it can sometimes be challenging to perceive everything at a natural volume. Our test device features an acclimatization manager that helps us through the adjustment phase with very small volume adjustments. After a few weeks or months, we have then reached the calculated amplification level.
Zinc-air batteries power the Naida Paradise 70 UP. Changing the batteries could become quite challenging for people with limited dexterity or vision. If you have concerns about this, it's better to look for a rechargeable model.
With an IP 68 certification, the hearing aid can withstand all sorts of adverse effects. Dust cannot penetrate, it can withstand extended submersion in water, and it is also protected against contact.

Extras
Finally, we want to know if the hearing aid offers any specials: Are you among the tinnitus sufferers? If so, you could use the optional tinnitus program in the Naida Paradise 70 UP. Soft, gentle sounds are tailored to your hearing and engage all areas of the inner ear. It is nothing more than a distraction maneuver, and it works surprisingly well. The tinnitus fades into the general noise and no longer bothers you. This is a simple yet effective tool and earns bonus points from us.
We find the remote maintenance service exciting, which can be utilized. If someone has no opportunity to visit the hearing care professional, they can contact them via the app, briefly describe their hearing issue, and then receive a data package with a new hearing aid configuration. If it sounds good, they upload it to their hearing aids.
A new trend in the hearing aid industry is integrated sensors that can track a few personal health data, for example. However, the Naida Paradise 70 UP does not offer this feature. Other hearing aids already have a few advanced options like a fall alert or reminder functions. We do not find this here, and that is not too dramatic, as the normal hearing functions are still the most important.
