The Phonak Virto Marvel 70 Titanum in review
Hinweis: Die Marvel-Serie ist schon ein wenig aus der Mode und entspricht nicht mehr dem aktuellen Stand der Technik. Daher hat die Gesamtnote eine Abwertung erhalten
Phonak presents the Virto Marvel 70 Titanium, a model from the high-price segment. It can compensate for mild to moderate hearing losses. It is a lightweight, hardly noticeable and perceptible hearing aid that delivers good sound due to its ideal wearing position far back in the ear canal. It is worn in the ear.
Hearing comfort
First, we evaluate the hearing comfort features. What types of noise does the hearing aid recognize? How does it handle them? Is the hearing aid suitable for a varied everyday life? Here with this test device, a solid comfort programming by the hearing care professional is possible. As with all hearing aids, we also find typical background noise suppression here. It is supposed to reduce monotonous, noisy ambient sounds to the extent that they no longer stand out. The Virto Marvel 70 Titanium includes a considerable, well-functioning noise reduction.
However, users of the Virto Marvel 70 Titanium must deal with the wind that sweeps through the microphones. There is no wind noise reduction here. There is also a so-called impulse filter. It slightly dampens short and loud noises. This is a useful function, but we would have liked a bit more adjustment depth. The 16 adjustable equalizer bands provide enough room to create a reliable, custom hearing experience. The Virto Marvel 70 Titanium impresses us with its natural, spatial hearing. The ear cup retains its function, making the 3D sensation just like not wearing any hearing aid at all.
An exciting topic in hearing acoustics is the use of artificial intelligence, but this is not yet applied in this Phonak model.
The software that this Phonak hearing aid uses is called AutoSense 3.0. There is already a new version 4.0, which is used in a different hearing aid family: Phonak Paradise hearing aids.

Phonak Virto Marvel 70 Titanum:
Operation & connectivity
Almost every one of us owns a smartphone, which raises the question of whether it can be connected to the new hearing aid. Let’s take a look at the connectivity and usability of the Virto Marvel 70 Titanium. First, we are interested in whether there is a button on the device. Unfortunately, we will be disappointed with the Titanium, as there is no immediate setting option. A remote control is available for the Virto Marvel 70 Titanium. It is quite practical, fits in your pocket, and offers a volume option as well as various hearing programs.
For some time now, there has been a trend to adjust hearing aids louder or softer using voice commands. The idea is really good, but Phonak is not there yet with this device. Don’t worry, this feature would be nice, but it’s not essential. Tap Control would have been an interesting feature as well. With that, you could change the function with a quick tap on your ear. But that is not yet available in the Virto Marvel 70 Titanium.
We searched in the app store in vain for an app for further adjustments; we wished it were different. If you were looking forward to wireless streaming, we unfortunately have to disappoint you, as a wireless module has unfortunately not been integrated here.
Rating Operation & connectivity: 3,5

Simplicity & security
An important factor for the acceptance of a hearing aid is its practicality in everyday life. This includes, for example, automated functions as well as robustness and user-friendliness. The situational automation of the Virto Marvel 70 Titanium includes nearly everything one might encounter in daily life. It provides me with the perfect setting at all times without me having to actively do anything. Especially during varied phases, this is extremely convenient and makes me almost forget the hearing aid is in my ear. We are very pleased with the integrated acclimatization manager. In the background, it increases the volume of the hearing aid in tiny steps until our target amplification is eventually reached. We can gradually and comfortably get used to the new hearing impressions.
The Virto Marvel 70 Titanium is not rechargeable. It continues to draw its energy from disposable batteries of size 10, which need to be replaced every few days.
We also take a look at the robustness of the housing and discover in the data sheet the protection class IP 68. This ensures that dust cannot penetrate, and water only becomes a danger after prolonged submersion. Protection against contact is also included.
Rating Simplicity & security: 1,8
Extras
Before we come to the end, let's take a look at the extras: Phonak has integrated a noise generator that plays soothing sounds for those suffering from tinnitus. This can help distract from the tinnitus and provide a bit more relaxation.
Online services are becoming increasingly common. There is often a remote support service available for hearing aids as well. However, Phonak has not yet provided this for its Virto Marvel 70 Titanium. Therefore, you have to go to the specialist store each time you want to have your hearing aid reprogrammed. No extra point for that.
Some hearing aids can track certain health data. However, this requires special sensors in the hearing aid, which we unfortunately do not have in the Virto Marvel 70 Titanium. The function range in the Virto Marvel 70 Titanium is limited to normal hearing, which is perfectly fine. Additional features like fall alerts or Siri integrations do offer considerable added value but are not relevant for good hearing balance.

Conclusion: Phonak Virto Marvel 70 Titanum
In the overall result, this test device ranks in the lower positions and is missing some features. We give it a score of 4.43. This is acceptable for less demanding listeners, but for a very active lifestyle, we recommend a hearing aid with more extensive comfort features.
