The Phonak Virto Paradise 50 10 NW O in review
Mit der Einführung einer neuen Hörgerätetechnologie durch Phonak sind diese Geräte nun veraltet, was sich in einer Abwertung in der Gesamtbenotung widerspiegelt.
This test report is about the Virto Paradise 50 10 NW O. It was developed by Phonak and covers轻, moderate, and stronger hearing needs. This variant is worn in the ear. The Virto Paradise 50 10 NW O is a discreet, slim-shaped hearing aid from a price range slightly above average. The clear sound transmission is achieved by the inconspicuous wearing position in the ear canal.
Hearing comfort
First, we evaluate the hearing comfort features. What types of sounds does the hearing aid recognize? How does it handle them? Is the hearing aid suitable for a varied daily life? With this test device, we found very few options to influence comfort. As in all hearing aids, we also find the typical noise cancellation here. It is supposed to reduce monotonous, noisy background sounds so much that they are no longer in the foreground. In the Virto Paradise 50 10 NW O, it really does this, and significantly more effectively than in most other hearing aids.
We sorely missed a wind noise cancellation. Those who spend a lot of time outdoors might find the clearly audible wind noises quite bothersome. Points are deducted for the lack of impulse sound cancellation. Normally, this dampens short, clattering noises. However, those who choose this hearing aid should not let that bother them. The Virto Paradise 50 10 NW O is one of the good hearing aids, at least regarding the number of frequency bands. With 16 bands, it is well-equipped for precise adjustment to personal sound preferences. In the Virto Paradise 50 10 NW O, you don't have to reconstruct 3D hearing because it remains perfectly intact. This is made possible by its deep fit in the ear canal.
Strategies based on artificial intelligence have not yet been implemented in this hearing aid from Phonak.
Rating Hearing comfort: 3,5
Operation & connectivity
Sometimes it's not so bad when you can adjust the volume of the hearing aid a little, for example when the neighbor is mowing the lawn loudly or someone is speaking very softly to you. Many models therefore have special control functions. You can use them, but you don't have to. We looked at this with the Virto Paradise 50 10 NW O: There is a button directly on the hearing aid. With this, you can change the volume or activate additional hearing programs. It can be programmed according to the customer's wishes. The use is of course optional. We really like the small remote controls, and for this model, we found one. This allows you to discreetly make small adjustments to the volume or sound.
For some time now, there has been a trend to adjust hearing aids louder or quieter using voice commands. The idea is really good, but Phonak has not yet implemented this feature in this device. Don't worry about it, this feature would be nice, but it's not essential. Control of the hearing aids with a simple tap is not available in this Phonak model, as it would have required specific sensors in the housing.
If you are looking for an app, unfortunately, you won't find one here. The Virto Paradise 50 10 NW O has to do without smart control functions. This point is lost. A possibility to connect to other audio sources is not provided here. That's a shame, as a wireless streaming function would have offered real added value.
Rating Operation & connectivity: 3,2

Simplicity & security
For the next chapter, we subjected the hearing aid to a small practical test. We wanted to know if it is easy to use and uncomplicated in everyday life. Unfortunately, there is no powerful automatic situation mode in the Virto Paradise 50 10 NW O. We have to make do with a few standard settings. Active hearing aid users will certainly encounter limitations here. Some people have difficulty getting used to it, but this hearing aid makes it easy for us to adjust to the new volume. There is a familiarization manager that gradually leads us to the required target amplification. The period can last a few weeks or even several months, and this is individually adjustable. The individual steps are so small that you hardly notice that there was a volume increase.
Many hearing aids today have a rechargeable battery, but the Virto Paradise 50 10 NW O still operates with disposable batteries. This is somewhat cumbersome to handle and also has an environmental impact.
With an IP 68 certification, the hearing aid can withstand various adverse influences. Dust cannot penetrate, it withstands prolonged submersion in water, and it is also protected against contact.
Rating Simplicity & security: 2,5
Extras
Sometimes, hearing aids have additional functions that can be quite useful. Let's see what this Phonak device offers: We really liked the optional tinnitus program. There are quite a few people who are occasionally or frequently plagued by a ringing or buzzing in their ears. The tinnitus program in the Virto Paradise 50 10 NW O is essentially just a sound generator. It aims to produce broad-spectrum noises or sounds that gently and pleasantly stimulate all areas of hearing. The tinnitus becomes less noticeable and is no longer perceived as disruptive.
What about remote support? Such online services save a trip to the specialist store because you can directly contact an acoustic professional via the app. Unfortunately, we could not find anything like that for the Virto Paradise 50 10 NW O. It's a shame, as it would have been a great additional tool.
This variant of the Virto Paradise 50 does not have sensors, so popular health tracking cannot be offered. For example, steps are counted throughout the day. As mentioned, this hearing aid does not have this feature. Other hearing aids do offer some extended options, such as a fall alarm or reminder functions. We do not find that here, and that's not so dramatic, because the regular hearing functions are still the most important.

Conclusion: Phonak Virto Paradise 50 10 NW O
This test device ranks in the lower positions in the overall results and lacks some features. We award a score of 3.84. This is acceptable for less demanding listeners, but for a very active lifestyle, we recommend a hearing aid with more extensive comfort features.
