However, sounds can be of various kinds and require very different tools for suppression. With the Signature Series 24 CIC NW, we were impressed by the excellent noise management. First, we look at noise suppression. This is designed to control everyday sounds like the noise of ventilation or refrigerators. In this Starkey model, it does this really well, and significantly better than in most other hearing aids. Popping, metallic noises have no chance in this hearing aid; they are noticeably attenuated with a multi-stage tool. Starkey should delight all outdoor fans with this device, as wind is not only pleasantly dampened, but speech understanding should also continue to function without any issues. One of the most important evaluation criteria in a hearing aid is the number of frequency bands, as they determine the fine-tuning options. The Signature Series 24 CIC NW is equipped with 24 bands, providing the best conditions for achieving a precise sound result. Even in the following years, one can continually make differentiated adjustments here. With the Signature Series 24 CIC NW, one does not need to reconstruct 3D hearing, as it remains completely intact. This is made possible by its deep placement in the ear canal. Artificial intelligence is also employed in the signal processing of the Signature Series 24 CIC NW. This enables a far more realistic analysis of the listening environment, and above all, clarity in noisy environments is significantly improved.

Occasionally, you find yourself in situations where it would be beneficial if the hearing aid was set differently. After all, we live in hectic times where the acoustic environment often changes. Most hearing aids have specific options for this purpose, allowing you to adjust the settings yourself. Here's how it works with the Signature Series 24 CIC NW: A very quick way to correct the volume is the small button on the device. It’s easy to feel, and you can adjust the volume in multiple steps, either louder or quieter. Additional programs for special hearing situations can also be activated with it. If someone prefers not to use the button, it can simply be disabled. We didn't find a remote control. That's a shame because we actually find this discreet control option quite nice.
Voice commands are a fairly new way to operate hearing aids. However, we have not found this feature in this model yet. That's not a big deal - the main thing is that you can hear well. If there are sensors in the hearing aid, a tap control could be possible, which would trigger a specific function by tapping your fingers on your ear. However, this option is not available in the Signature Series 24 CIC NW.
We find the app for the Signature Series 24 CIC NW to be somewhat sparse. It’s best to check the demo version before purchasing the hearing aid to see if it meets your needs. But we don't want to complain; the app is definitely useful. There is no option to connect to other audio sources here. That's a shame, as a wireless streaming function would have provided real added value.

A balanced automatic adjustment of the situation is the most important aspect we consider when it comes to simplicity. After all, no one wants to constantly fiddle with the hearing aid. The Signature Series 24 CIC NW has proven in tests that it accompanies us comfortably and reliably through our hearing daily life. With its excellent full automation, this device is a real highlight. Some people find it difficult to adjust, but this hearing aid makes it easy for us to cope with the new volume levels. There is a familiarization manager that gradually guides us to the required target amplification. The adjustment period can last a few weeks or even several months, and it is individually adjustable. The individual steps are so small that you don’t even notice that there has been an increase in volume.
The Signature Series 24 CIC NW is not rechargeable. It continues to get its power from size 10 disposable batteries, which need to be changed every few days.
The Signature Series 24 is virtually dust and waterproof, and with its IP 68 rating, it is certainly well protected against external influences.

Sometimes it's the little things that make a hearing aid perfect. That's why we're taking a quick look at the extras that might be included here: Are you among those afflicted by tinnitus? Then you could use the optional tinnitus program in the Signature Series 24 CIC NW. Soft, gentle sounds are tuned to your hearing and engage all areas of the inner ear. It's nothing more than a distraction technique, and it works surprisingly well. The tinnitus fades into the general noise and is no longer a nuisance. It's a simple yet effective tool and earns extra points from us.
An online contact with the hearing care professional through the app would be very useful. This is already quite common today and provides assistance with minor adjustment issues. Unfortunately, Starkey has opted out of this and therefore does not earn any extra points.
Some hearing aids can track certain health data. However, this requires special sensors in the hearing aid, which we unfortunately do not have in the Signature Series 24 CIC NW. The hearing aid also forgoes additional features like special assistance systems, a fall alarm, or speech translators. That's not a big deal, as it does not affect the important hearing functions.
