The Quattro NEO 9 67-DWT from ReSound is a conventional hearing aid worn behind the ear. The customer receives a small mini hearing aid at a reasonable price from the upper mid-range, which can compensate for mild, moderate, and even strong hearing needs.

Hearing comfort

First, we assess the hearing comfort features. What types of noises does the hearing aid recognize? How does it handle them? Is the hearing aid suitable for a varied everyday life? Here, this test device provides the customer with comprehensive noise management. As in all hearing aids, we also find the typical noise suppression here. It is designed to reduce monotonous, noisy background sounds so that they are no longer at the forefront. With the Quattro NEO 9 67-DWT, it truly does this, and significantly more effectively than most other hearing aids.

With this hearing aid, we are impressed by how effectively wind noise is suppressed and how stable the device operates even in stronger winds. Impulsive sounds occur very often in everyday life. There’s the dishwasher that needs to be unloaded, or the set of keys that is placed on the table. The Quattro NEO 9 67-DWT features strong impulse sound management that makes these sounds bearable. The more bands the equalizer in the hearing aid has, the more reliably it can separate speech from background noise. The sound can also be shaped better. The Quattro NEO 9 67-DWT has 17 bands, making it one of the more powerful models. Spatial hearing is very important for orientation in space and recognizing directions and distances. With this hearing aid from ReSound, one can feel completely secure. It mimics the functionality of natural hearing and makes information from all directions accessible.

Other hearing aids already use artificial intelligence in their signal processing, but the Quattro NEO 9 67-DWT does not yet employ this strategy.

Operation & connectivity

Almost everyone of us has a smartphone, so it raises the question of whether it can be connected to the new hearing aid. Let's take a look at the connectivity and usability of the Quattro NEO 9 67-DWT. There is a button directly on the hearing aid. With it, you can adjust the volume or activate additional hearing programs. It can be programmed according to customer preferences. The use is, of course, optional. We do like the small remote controls, and we have found one for this model. This allows for discreet small adjustments to the volume or sound.

Voice commands are a fairly new way of operating hearing aids. However, in this model, we do not yet have this option. That's not too bad - as long as you can hear well. Tap Control would have also been an interesting feature. With it, you can change the function with a quick tap on the ear. But this is not available in the Quattro NEO 9 67-DWT yet.

For better usability, the manufacturer also provides us with an app for smartphones. The ReSound app for Quattro NEO 9 67-DWT is impressive: you can not only adjust the volume but also truly influence the sound and various noise parameters. The Quattro NEO 9 comes with a 2.4 GHz antenna and allows for binaural phone calls. This even gives us an advantage over normal hearing individuals. We find this good and are happy to give points.

Simplicity & security

We are also interested in how quickly one can get along with the Quattro NEO 9 67-DWT and how easy daily use is. A well-functioning situation recognition brings a lot of relaxation to everyday hearing. You don't have to constantly switch between settings and can easily indulge in automated adjustments. Some people find it difficult to get used to it, but this hearing aid makes it easy for us to cope with the new volume. There is a familiarization manager that gradually leads us to the required target amplification. The timeframe can last a few weeks or several months, and it is individually adjustable. The individual steps are so small that you don’t even notice that there has been a volume increase.

The Quattro NEO 9 67-DWT is not rechargeable. It operates with size 312 hearing aid batteries. Disadvantage: The batteries are disposed of after use. Advantage: Daily recharging of batteries is eliminated; the hearing aid runs continuously for several days on one battery.

The Quattro NEO 9 is nearly dustproof and waterproof, and with its IP 68 classification, it is certainly well protected against external influences.

Extras

Everyone appreciates a few extra features, so let's see if we can find some here: ReSound has integrated a sound generator that plays some soothing sounds for those suffering from tinnitus. This can distract from the tinnitus and provide a bit more relaxation.

A very good additional benefit is offered by the remote maintenance service. Through the app, you can contact your audiologist and describe your hearing problem. They can then adjust the settings accordingly and upload them to the hearing aids via the app. This is a great service for people with little time or a long commute.

Many hearing aids still come with a few health functions today. However, since the Quattro NEO 9 67-DWT does not have any special sensors for this, we cannot present any particular features here. The hearing aid also forgoes additional functions such as specialized assistance systems, a fall alarm, or speech translators. This is not a major drawback, as it does not affect the important hearing functions.
