The ReSound Savi 4 60-DRWC in review
In this test report, we take a look at the Savi 4 60-DRWC. It was developed by ReSound and addresses mild, moderate, and even severe hearing needs. This version is worn behind the ear. Savi 4 60-DRWC is a very small hearing device at a moderate price. The clean sound transmission is achieved through the comfortable position of the speaker in the ear canal.
ReSound Savi impresses as an entry-level model with well-thought-out technology and an attractive price-performance ratio.
Hearing comfort
Good speech understanding is a given in modern hearing aids. Equally important is listening comfort. It is only when the ratio of speech transmission to the level of background noise is right that hearing is perceived as pleasant. That’s why we take a look at the comfort features: The Savi 4 60-DRWC allows for solid comfort programming by the audiologist. Normal background noises such as traffic noise, the sound of a vacuum cleaner, or that from a fan should be diminished by classic noise suppression. In this ReSound hearing aid, we are not dealing with the most powerful variant, but in everyday life, the noise suppression should suffice.
Quick, sharp sounds are detected here, but only moderately reduced. Those who enjoy spending time outdoors will appreciate the wind noise suppression. It may not dampen as much, but it is definitely useful. We cannot create a real 3D sound space with the current test device. Especially outdoors, one should often look around to locate individual sound sources. However, focusing on a specific speaker works quite well thanks to the integrated directional microphones. A solid basis for programming the Savi 4 60-DRWC is provided by the 12 equalizer bands. As sound junkies, we would wish for a few more, but for the typical situations we encounter in our daily lives, a quite reasonable sound image can certainly be created from them.
ReSound does not yet use artificial intelligence in this version.
The Binaural Directionality III from ReSound helps you to understand conversations more clearly, even in noisy environments - without fading out important background sounds. This way, you maintain a natural hearing impression and orientation at all times.

Operation & connectivity
The majority of functions of this ReSound model are activated automatically. However, it is sometimes very useful to be able to expand the functionality a little bit. In the test, we found out what options we have here. The simplest way to operate is always a button directly on the hearing aid. This model has one as well. It can be programmed according to your wishes. Do you want a manual volume control? No problem, the button allows for a gradual adjustment of the volume. Or do you need different special programs for your professional life or hobbies? These can also be activated using the button. Anyone who wants to keep everything in automatic mode can simply ignore the button or even have it deactivated. Those who prefer not to touch their ear to adjust the volume will appreciate the optional remote control. This allows for convenient and discreet changes to the hearing aid.
For some time now, there has been a trend to adjust hearing aids louder or quieter using voice commands. The idea is really good, but ReSound has not implemented this feature in this device yet. Don't worry, this feature would be nice, but it is not essential. Tap Control would also have been an interesting function. With it, you can change the function with a quick tap on the ear. But this is not available in the Savi 4 60-DRWC yet.
The operation of the Savi 4 60-DRWC is relatively easy through the associated app. It comes with a lot of additional functions and impressed us quite a bit. We particularly enjoyed using the equalizer during the test. As a normally hearing person, one might almost be envious, as you don't find something like this even in wireless headphones yet. One of the best features of the hearing aid is the direct streaming function. This turns the hearing aid into a true wireless headphone, directly receiving phone calls and other sounds in your ear. A compatible smartphone that contains 2.4 GHz technology is required. The biggest advantage is that you can hear phone calls not just in one ear, but in both. Additionally, the sound can be tailored to personal preferences.
With ReSound, you can enjoy state-of-the-art connectivity technology at every technology level – including LE Audio with Auracast and direct streaming to compatible devices. For wireless listening without compromises.

Simplicity & security
Now let's briefly discuss everyday usability. Is the Savi 4 60-DRWC user-friendly and easy to handle? Does it have water protection? Here are our findings: We receive relatively little support from the program automation in the Savi 4 60-DRWC. Without a few individual hearing programs, one will likely struggle in a lively everyday life. We give a big plus for the automatic acclimatization assistant. It gradually increases the starting volume in very small steps until my hearing goal is reached. This significantly facilitates the adjustment to the new sound.
The Savi 4 60-DRWC has a battery. We find this very good, as rechargeable hearing aids are absolutely up-to-date. You don't have to have batteries lying around everywhere, nor do you need to change the battery in the middle of a concert. The hearing aid is simply placed in the charging station overnight and has enough energy for the following day.
We had a carefree everyday life in our test due to the IP-68 certification. This indicates that the hearing aid is particularly well protected against dust and water. We walked through the rain and then took out the hearing aids with wet hands - no problem at all. However, the water resistance really only applies to fresh, natural water and not to bubbly bathwater or saltwater.
The hearing aid is available with either a rechargeable battery or a standard battery – for maximum flexibility. Our article Battery or Rechargeable? Decision Aid for Hearing Aid Users offers assistance in making your selection.

Extras
We are almost at the end, but perhaps this device still has a few gifts in the form of extra features? Let's take a look: One noteworthy aspect is the tinnitus program. This will benefit all those plagued by annoying ear noises. Pleasant, quiet sounds are set up to gently surround the tinnitus. In the end, the tinnitus fades into the background noise and is no longer disturbing.
A real added value is the remote maintenance service. For a change in the hearing aid settings, you no longer have to go to the specialist shop; instead, you can directly contact the audiologist through the app. Via a cloud service, you can then load the new data package into the hearing aids. This is exactly what we expect from a modern hearing aid.
There are no sensors in this Savi 4 variant, so popular health tracking cannot be offered. For example, steps are counted throughout the day. As mentioned - this hearing aid does not have this function on board. It would have been nice to have a few lifestyle features, but these are not available in the Savi 4 60-DRWC. Other hearing aids can score points with speech translators or fall alarms, but here it remains within the usual range of functions.
ReSound relies on interchangeable microphone filters that you can change yourself – for more control, longer lifespan, and consistent sound quality.
