The Signia Insio 7 IX CIC in review
Once again, we find ourselves in the test laboratory, and this time we had a product from Signia in our hands or rather, in our ears. The full product name is Insio 7 IX CIC, and it is classified among the devices of excellent quality. Due to the barely noticeable placement in the ear canal, it has good acoustic properties. The Insio 7 IX CIC is worn in the ear, and it is a thin, small hearing aid for mild and moderate hearing loss.
Hearing comfort
Hearing aids are not only meant to deliver speech to the ear but also to sound pleasant. So, let's first take a look at the comfort features. What types of noise does the hearing aid recognize? Are they dampened or transmitted unchanged? Is the hearing aid suitable for a lively everyday life? Here, with this test device, the manufacturer provides customers with comprehensive noise management. Like in every hearing aid, this one also includes typical noise cancellation. It is designed to reduce uniform, hissing background noises to a level where they no longer dominate. With the Insio 7 IX CIC, we are satisfied with the effectiveness of the noise cancellation. It can not only be turned on or off, but also adjusted in stages.
This device features really good wind management, making outdoor activities enjoyable. There is also a so-called impulse filter here. It somewhat cushions brief, loud noises. This is a useful function, but we would have liked a bit more depth in the settings. With 20 channels, the number of frequency bands in the Insio 7 IX CIC is very high. This allows the hearing aid to be perfectly adjusted to any hearing profile and provides great long-term tuning options. The Insio 7 IX CIC impresses us with its natural, spatial hearing. The outer ear maintains its function, creating a 3D feeling as if one were not wearing a hearing aid at all.
An exciting topic in audiology is the use of artificial intelligence, but this feature is not yet implemented in this Signia model.
Rating Hearing comfort: 1,6
Operation & connectivity
The operating options for hearing aids today are as simple or as complex as anyone likes. The basic functions, of course, operate fully automatically. We wanted to know how a user can additionally access the Insio 7 IX CIC. For those who want to adjust the volume quickly and easily, there is a button on the device. You can also select additional programs for special hearing situations through it. For those who don't like to touch their ear to adjust the volume, the optional remote control will be a welcome feature. This allows for comfortable and discreet adjustments to the hearing aid.
For some time now, there has been a trend to adjust the volume of hearing aids using voice commands. The idea is really good, but Signia is not yet at that stage with this device. Don't worry about it; this feature would be nice, but it is not essential. Some hearing aids can also be controlled with a quick tap of a finger, without having to press a button. However, this feature is not yet implemented here.
The app is not one of our highlights. But at least – there is one. And in times when nearly every hearing aid user also owns a smartphone, that is definitely useful. A wireless connection to a smartphone or laptop is not possible, as the necessary hardware components are lacking. You should think carefully about whether you can do without this feature, but just give it a try.

Simplicity & security
Next up in the test: What about user-friendliness? Is it easy or complicated to use the hearing aid? Ideally, the hearing aid should operate largely independently. The performance of the Insio 7 IX CIC is exceptionally good in this regard. It has a vast number of typical hearing situations stored, which the device recognizes on its own and always generates the appropriate setting. A great feature of this hearing aid is the automatic acclimatization. Especially for those who have been hearing poorly for a long time and then wear a hearing aid for the first time, this is a significant relief. The volume does not have to be immediately set to maximum. You can start at a lower level and gradually, almost imperceptibly, the amplification approaches the target.
The Insio 7 IX CIC is not rechargeable; it operates with hearing aid batteries. Unlike a rechargeable battery, it does not need to be charged daily, but the size 10 battery has to be replaced after a few days.
We take a look at the robustness of the housing and find in the datasheet that it has a protection rating of IP 68. This means that dust cannot penetrate at all, and water only becomes a danger after prolonged submersion. Protection against contact is also included.
Rating Simplicity & security: 1,8
Extras
We complete the test by checking if there are a few extras for you: Signia has integrated a sound generator that plays soothing sounds for those suffering from tinnitus. This can distract from tinnitus and provide a bit more relaxation.
An online contact with the audiologist through the app would be very useful. This is quite common today and helps with minor adjustment issues. Unfortunately, Signia does not offer this and therefore does not earn any extra points.
If Signia had integrated motion sensors into this hearing aid, it could even enable individual health tracking. However, that is not the case here. These points are lost in the assessment of the Insio 7 IX CIC. The hearing aid also does without additional features such as special assistance systems, a fall alarm, or language translators. This is not a big deal, as it does not affect the important hearing functions.
