Ideally, everyone would only want to hear speech and block out all other sounds. However, it’s not that simple. Without noise, our lives would sound very thin and empty. With the Insio 5 IX CIC, the manufacturer provides customers with comprehensive noise management. The mandatory noise suppression is meant to respond to anything that has a somewhat consistent hum, such as the heating or the extractor hood. In the present device, we have quite decent noise suppression. It might be too weak if you often travel in traffic, but in regular daily life, it is manageable.
A multi-stage wind noise management system is also included. This ensures that listening outdoors is pleasant and free of disturbances. Impulsive noises are detected and tolerably reduced by this device as well. With the Insio 5 IX CIC, you do not need to reconstruct 3D hearing, as it remains perfectly intact. This is made possible by the deep fit in the ear canal. The Insio 5 IX CIC is one of the good hearing aids, at least in terms of the number of frequency bands. With 18 bands, it is well-equipped for precise adjustments to personal sound preferences.
The signal processing is based, among other things, on typical frequency patterns of speech and noise, but artificial intelligence is not yet employed here.

Basically, the hearing aids work fully automatically, and that is also the mode that most people prefer. However, sometimes it's quite useful to be able to switch to a different hearing program or simply adjust the volume in a difficult situation. Therefore, let's take a brief look at the control options of the Insio 5 IX CIC. First, we discovered a button directly on the hearing aid. This is very useful, as it is the simplest and fastest way to make changes. The volume can be adjusted through it, and different hearing programs can also be activated. If someone prefers not to adjust anything directly on the ear, they can also deactivate the button. The small remote control, which is available as an option, is very practical. For us, it is one of the most convenient ways to increase or decrease the hearing aid volume or switch to another hearing program. No one notices it; reaching for the ear is not necessary.
We are always pleased when a hearing aid surprises us with a great additional feature. For example, we would have liked to see voice control at this point. But it is not currently available in the Insio 5 IX CIC. Tap Control would also have been an interesting feature, as it allows you to change the function with a quick tap on the ear. But that is not yet available in the Insio 5 IX CIC.
The Insio 5 IX CIC can be controlled with an app. In our opinion, it is a bit rudimentary, but you definitely get the advantage of convenient handling. A wireless connection to a smartphone or laptop is not possible, as the corresponding hardware components are missing. You should carefully consider whether you can do without this feature, but why not give it a try.

Let’s continue with the test: How is the user-friendliness? Is it easy or complicated to handle the hearing aid? The Insio 5 IX CIC features an extensive set of saved hearing situations. If a typical pattern is recognized, the hearing aid automatically activates the correct setting. We are very pleased with the integrated acclimatization manager. It gradually increases the volume of the hearing device in tiny increments until our target amplification is reached. We can relax and gradually acclimate to the new auditory experiences.
The Insio 5 IX CIC gets its power from small disposable batteries that need to be changed every few days. While that is not rocket science, it should be considered especially for those with motor problems. A rechargeable battery would be much easier to handle.
The hearing aid has been rated to IP68 protection class. This guarantees comprehensive protection against dust ingress. Water also cannot easily harm the hearing aid. This makes it well-equipped for outdoor activities, where it can get wet and dirty. However, do not go swimming or bathing with the hearing aids. Bath additives or the salt content in seawater can alter the composition and ultimately cause damage.

Extras
Before we come to the end, let's take a look at the extras: Signia has integrated a noise generator that plays soothing sounds for those suffering from tinnitus. This can help distract from the tinnitus and provide a bit more relaxation.
An online contact with the audiologist through the app would be very useful. This is already quite common today and provides assistance with minor adjustment issues. Unfortunately, Signia doesn't offer this, and therefore doesn't earn any extra points.
Some hearing aids can track specific health data. However, this requires special sensors in the hearing aid that we unfortunately do not have in the Insio 5 IX CIC. The hearing aid also does without additional features such as special assistance systems, a fall alert, or language translators. This is not too bad, as it does not affect the important hearing functions.
